I'm against daylight savings time. The detrimental effects on my health from changing my sleep patterns by far outweighs any benefit that I get from the little bit of light after work. We need to stop this…

DST is pretty much pointless anymore with most things having photocells & motion detectors. Like my dad told me years ago that DST was for people to be able to play golf later in the afternoon in the warmer months. (you know he might have something there) The other reason why it was never done away with is most people didn't want roofers and other contractors working at 6am when it is already daylight. 9 to 5's want to sleep in because they don't get up till 8am.

In Scotland this is even more useless because most places close at 6pm so it's a ghost town for 4 hours until the sun finally sets at 10pm which is too late considering our society is obsessed with getting up at 7am.

Shifting 1 hour 2 times a year is bad for sleep, instead the clock should shift 30 minutes 4 times a year: for example; first shift forward in early March, second shift forward in early May, first shift back in early September and second shift back in early November cuz it really won’t affect our sleep we can adjust our sleep schedule gradually 15 minutes for 2 days during the weekend

    • @shellyblanchard5788

@@darrenmiles-morland8038 You can't get them understand that. They run the clock up in the spring to get more what they is day light, when actually they are just getting up earlier. I don't go by it because it is a waste of time. They change their clocks here. After they change back the body goes back to it's regular routine.

People keep talking about making it permanent, but we're still changing our clocks.
I actually don't care, and hope it doesn't become permanent. (the same with standard time becoming permanent, which most people would prefer)
Where I live, this is what things are like now.
    Winter months::
    8:01 AM
    Thursday, December 21, 2023 (EST)
    5:05 PM
    Thursday, December 21, 2023 (EST)
If daylight saving time was permanent:
    9:01 AM
    Thursday, December 21, 2023 (EST)
    6:05 PM
    Thursday, December 21, 2023 (EST)
I don't know about the evenings, but 9:01 is too late for sunrise, imo.
    Summer months:
    5:58 AM
    Wednesday, June 21, 2023 (EDT)
    9:16 PM
    Wednesday, June 21, 2023 (EDT)
If standard time was permanent: (which is what most people would rather have)
    4:58 AM
    Wednesday, June 21, 2023 (EDT)
    8:16 PM
    Wednesday, June 21, 2023 (EDT)
I don't know about the evenings, but 4:58 is too early for sunrise, imo.
I say stick to changing our clocks, even if it's a hassle. It's the only way to get the right amount of daylight in the mornings all year round. The only part of the world that shouldn't have to worry about that is everywhere closest to the equator.

My childhood use to think daylight savings was something like the earth slows down a day or freezes etc when it turned out its just clock set forward or backwards which still makes me dont get why we care..

In Japan we didn’t have daylight savings time. It is very confusing and needs to be figured into business calls. Better to do business with countries with the intelligence to refuse this antiquated agrarian system of time.

Government doesn't tell me what my clock says. If we the people refuse to do what Gubberment says and DO NOT turn our clocks forward or backward, then the gubberment has to follow suit. There are more of we the people then senators and representatives never forget that.

Most people doesn't here doesn't care. One reason is because they are up all hours of the night anyway. Policemen have to be on patrol 24 -7, so how does it benefit them. It is crazy.

I still am not understanding how "setting the clock forward" 'or "backward" makes the sun either stay an hour longer or go away an hour faster. I recognize a regular day to be when it starts to get dark outside around 8pm. How is the sun disappearing earlier than usual? I don't get it! & what national clock are we simultaneously using to "set time" with here? Someone explain!

In Hong Kong they also do not observe daylight saving time either.
    For Example:
    In the Summer:
    When it's 11:00 a.m. in Vancouver.
    It's 2:00 a.m. in Hong Kong.
    Or. In the Winter:
    When it's 11:00 a.m. in Vancouver.
    It's 3:00 a.m. in Hong Kong.

      In winter
Hong Kong is 16 hours later than Vancouver BC
      8am Tuesday in Vancouver
      12am Wednesday in Hong Kong
      In summer
Hong Kong is 15 hours later than Vancouver
Hong Kong uses GMT+8 all year
Vancouver is GMT -8 in winter
      And-7 in summer

It's time to end this practice! They stopped it in Jamaica for example and the world did not end. One thing I like about Jamaica is no Halloween and no Valentine's Day. Even Japan has adapted Halloween for some odd reason, I think because they are godless.
