Thanks for watching. Yes all the flow from the filter goes through the ASHP. I have a bypass installed too so in the Spring, Summer & Autumn I can bypass the ASHP. Having said that. A couple of times the water hit 27 degrees so I had the ASHP cooling down to 25 to help

Hi very interesting videos. Any idea on the cost per 24 hours? I would like to know how efficient this unit would be when temperatures are near freezing? I am setting up a 750 gallon EZ Pond that is insulated with 45mm Celotex and will be covered with 35mm polycarbonate. I was going to use a 2KW Cloverleaf heater, but I'm now wondering if it might be worth investing in a heat pump such as the Remora 6KW output?
Yes I can tell you exactly. I put a logger on the live supply of the heater for a two week period. The logger recorded the usage every 6 seconds for the two weeks. I also placed the logger back on from the 22/12 for a 30 day log. Once it is completed I will upload the results. The main pond is 2,200 Gallons and the ASHP uses just under 2kW when running 100% to produce 12kW of output temp but on Smart Mode it would never use anything near that unless it is heating the water up to a high temperature or from scratch. It is sat at 17 Degrees
Great video, ive just purchased the i15 after looking around, found these have a 3yr and 7yr warranty and at a great price, it says 1"1/2 connections but looks like your pipework is 2" did you have to reduce it dowm?
Cheers for watching and Hope you find the unit as easy and reliable as mine. Yes it comes with a 50mm/1 1/2" Union Adapter. All my pipework is 1 1/2" except the Bottom Drains. The Pumps etc are reduced from 2" to 1 1/2". Possibly wish I had run everything in 2" but maybe that's another Project.
The rain cover will be put over it this week but like all ASHP there needs to be clearance of 300mm behind, 700mm at the sides, 500mm on the top and 2500 in front.
Hi Kev, nice set up keeps it out of sight, what's the pipe coming out the front below fan is it for condensation run off, I bet it blows cold in front off that fan, can it also cool the water if we ever get a blazing hot summer, stay safe. Rob.
Cheers rob, yes it can cool & Heat anything between 5 Degrees & 40 Degrees so yes in Summer if it gets above 24 Degrees again I could cool the water a little. You can come and have a good look after Xmas. Stay Safe mate
I will take you up on that offer Kev, have you seen the sand filters at AES they look same build as bead filters and seem a good price, I was wondering if they would run same with k1 micro in, units come empty as you have to buy sand separate which obviously wouldn't need anyway. Rob.
@@barrykoikeepercooper8052 did you get yours from AES what size did you go for and how many litres of k1 micro does it hold, also where did you get your blower from and was it easy enough to add it, I'm roughly pricing it to get a idea of total cost, I have the same filter as Kev, the Oase premium compact drum filter which my bottom drain will feed to and also my skimmer which connects into pipework from a mid water 3" feed which will go to the Oase as well but could go to a bead filter instead, at the moment it's on hold until spring, the pond itself is built but no liner or pipework is installed. I was going to sell it but a friends said what if the ASHP fails and then I noticed the unions were nearly identical so for the sake of 2 minutes unscrewing the unions it will fit in there. Maybe a later Mod will see it on the skimmer line or the return line.
I am in exactly the same situation as you have an Inline electric heater and I’m currently working out it’s cost. Having said that I only keep my fish at 13 degrees over winter. And I’m fully covered like you. So it’s a tricky one wether the further expense is reallyworth it.

I'm not entirely sure exactly what you mean as Gravity Fed refers to the Filter set up. My ASHP is set up on a Gravity Fed set up but I still need a Pump to push the water back through the ASHP and to the Pond return. If you mean can you fit the ASHP before the Filter I would say NO and would definitely not recommend it as pre filtered water will contain Algae and waste likely to coat or line the pipework of the Heat Exchange. Having said that I would ask the Manufacturer or supplier before purchasing a unit.

@@bearcatkoi I get it now. I would say it may be a little more difficult with your set up with the filter outlet being Gravity return and the fact of having a waterfall. If you want better clarity I would speak with @Simon Ward at AES Ltd or the technical department of the supplier you choose.

Standard setting on the Remora is a four degree swing but you can set them at two degree, not sure if it is more cost efficient but it would be better for the fish.
Cheers fr commenting. I have the details about that Parameter but at the moment the temperature has only moved between 16 Degrees & 17 Degrees according to my Temp logger so I'm not too worried yet
The degree swing is the maximum allowed before the unit will switch off and then back on. In reality this doesn’t happen if correctly sized on an inverter as it’s changing its speed to match the heat loss. For this reason it will normally hover plus or minus 0.5 degrees from the set point. Hope this helps
There are a few Videos in my Library of how much they cost to use. One from Feb 2019, one from March 2019 and one from three weeks ago and YES they are good and did the job nicely. They can be programmed to come on at different times. Over the three videos it works out at an average of around £2.50 per day

Yes mate. The sequence was Bottom Drain - Oase Filter - Pump - UV - ASHP - Pond

Useful things those big concrete slabs but they are very heavy
