The "If matt oriley leaves" caveat with engels is typical with this board, why not forward plan and get him now, knowing that MOR will leave in Jan or next summer in best case, he's 20, will need time to settle so give him some minutes this season, ready to kick on when MOR leaves. Could do with a LB in soon too, Lund from Palermo would have been the one, shame they are saying he isnt for sale.
I think we've missed a trick not recruiting from the SPFL. Doig, Lewis Ferguson, Miovski etc we've probably underrated these players at the time. Considering how little it'll cost it might be worth having McCowen in the squad but would be disappointed if it was him instead of Engels

We need a couple more Scottish trained player for UCL purposes. Right now we have the bare minimum and we really only have 5 guys (CalMac, Forrest, Taylor, Ralston, Bain) that don’t worry me in a UCL roster. Right now Mikey Johnston, Welsh, and Montgomery make t he roster due to lack of other option. Luke Mckowen allows you to drop one of them. I don’t think he would be a top end guy for us, but I trust him as a sub/squad player and he provides flexibility. We should be looking to add two Scottish guys that will be squad players or better. Plus they’d be relatively cheap.
The atmosphere at old firm games is pure Bile. Nothing redeemable in having that shower come to wreak havoc at Celtic Park under any circumstances. We don’t need them there in order to generate a home ground atmosphere, where kids are safe to enjoy Celtic, Glasgow.
The signing of Engels shouldnt be remotely dependent on ORiley moving, we know ORiley is going sooner or later, the chance to get a good 21yo prospect from the Bundesliga should be taken regardless. And lets be honest, ORiley will be an Atalanta player at the end of the window, its not like its in any doubt.
Also, agree on the striker front. The modern game required two first team strikers that can freely rotate or else play together if the match requires it.
Koopmeiners and Engels are with the same agency. With the Koopmeiner move to Juve relying on O’Rileys switch to Atalanta, maybe we can apply some pressure on the agency to get us Engels.

Seems to boss games every time I see him . Real box to box qualities think he would be a great addition.
Luke’s a Greenock bhoy, Celtic have done well out of players from that area, Davie Provan, Mick Conroy, Owen Archdeacon, Stevie Fulton and Greg Taylor, just saying 😊
mcregor hatate and o Riley in midfield is by far good enough for a club like us and what u talking about pace 😂 maeda and Kuhn are rapid , Forrest offers experience and he keeps the ball so well

We can and should be doing better in terms of recruitment. Europe is the benchmark not the dross we play in Scotland. We have a manager and the nucleus of a team which can improve but the board have to match that ambition.
Celtic have a track record for being a stepping stone to Premier League clubs. He'd be able to showcase himself and get exposure in Europe. I don't think it'll happen due to the price tag but it'd be a good career move for him if he's not already getting better offers. Makes much more sense than staying at Augsburg
