1946 Belsaw Sawmill and 1932 Farmall Regular

- This is my father running his 1946 Belsaw Sawmill with my brother's 1932 Farmall Regular tractor. Dad starts the tractor by wrapping a strap around the pully and pulling it with a 6x6 Polaris instead of using the hand crank.
The videos were taken in different years, but they are linked together here in the order of operation - from starting the tractor to cutting lumber on the mill.

Better put a splitter bar after the saw so the board won't come flying at you like a rocket. Saw needs hammered or maybe more rpm so it stands up straight.

I Like the video. Im 70 myself and we have a old M 14 bellsaw. I keep thinking I need to get it set up and saw some lumber. I once owned a Regular mine had steel wheels. We have a lot of Farmalls and I think one of our M,s would power a Bellsaw Ok.
Ours original had steel wheels.
@@rainebrown3502 When I was 7 years old I started driving tractor. It was a 37 John Deere B. Originally it had steel wheels. However the spokes had been torched off and rims welded on to convert it to rubber tires. We did own a regular with steel wheels on the rear. However I never drove it.

Pull start by the PTO I've never thought of that.
Can’t help but notice that it’s got nice painted wheels and new tires in the beginning, and towards the end must be old footage with the old tires still on it

Is that mill set up to be “portable”? Like do u pull it to job sites, or it’s set up on tires but stationary?
It is portable, though it hasn't been moved in years, on an old school bus frame. We used to take it and the Farmall to gas engine shows.
Raine Brown about what is the LEAST horsepower you would run? Foley Belsaw instructions say at least 30hp. Do u agree?
@@GShepardLover That's a question beyond my skill set. I'd have to ask my father and see what he says. I'm pretty much just the video editor for this video! :-)
@@GShepardLover Hi Ryan, Stan Brown here. The Farmall probably puts out at least 25 HP on the PTO and the mill saws pine great. Can saw oak and maple and cherry a bit slower. We did run the mill once at a show with a 22HP single cylinder Whitt engine and it did alright..

Yes! He cut some of the pine we used for the siding and all the black Cherry for the kitchen cabinets and countertops, and also the stairs!
