Fun fact`: The licensed scooter taxi drivers (win) in orange or red wests are working directly with the royal Thai police as extra eyes/ears/witnesses against crimes/accidents and have often first eyes on a accident or crime. They are literally everywhere latest numbers shows that there are about +90000 drivers and 5,564 motorcycle taxi stations in Bangkok's different districts total.. That's one of the less unknown reasons why bangkok and Thailand is so safe to be in.. apart from all the police, locals and cameras that are everywhere too=)
Thanks heaps for this context. Yeah, it's really interesting. While we were there I was reading about Thailand's volunteer tourist police made up of foreign nationals. A lot of farangs frequently visit, so not a bad idea to give a bit of 'buy in' to make sure order is kept. I'm looking forward to going back at some point to explore the social and cultural aspects when possible.
Also HUGE congrats to your wife for earning her PhD, what a powerhouse! I hope she knows just how big of a deal that is and she should be INCREDIBLY proud of herself. Enjoy you two!
Cheers bro. I'll definitely pass that along and know it will be appreciated. Things are unfolding and I think she's starting to realise the scale of her achievement. Done in a second language even. Meanwhile all I learn are curse words...in any language.
My wife and I went to Thailand in 2017. What an awesome experience. The only bad part was that it ruined food for me… forever… it was THAT good. Ahhh, I still dream about the curry there.

The food is seriously good. Thai food is up there as one of if not my favourite cuisines.
