Originally slated for a Halloween release last year (in the Orson Welles tradition), and then _this_ year, and now running two to three weeks late. The Long 2020 and its Rabid Bullshit continue unabated, but you knew that. If you see any problems with the vid, shoot me a PM or something. I've forgotten how this site works.
As a history buff this book is phenomenal. The fact that this was written in the 1890’s is insane when you truly understand how London at the time was dull and gray due to newfangled factories, so the level of imagination needed to produce such an out-of-this-world novel is insane.
The book is less "out of this world" when you notice that the technology the Martians use were already being discussed and theorized by that time. Flying machines, legged machines and heat rays were things already being passed around by then. Funnily enough, people at the time weren't impressed by the technology described or the violence, but that the Martians were advanced but weren't humanlike...
@@hyperion3145 That is understandable. I do think that the Martians essentially being living brains that construct machines as their bodies is an amazing concept that really got lost in basically every adaptation :(
The fact that the guy who wrote this could even imagine futuristic beings with literally no visuals to go off of like we have, it's just completely amazing. It's like this guy came to the 2000s and came back to write this book, lol.
I temember my grandad telling me many years ago about a book written long ago. Unfortunately, I can't remember who wrote it, but it talked about the weightlessness of the moon in it. It's amazing just how inventive science fiction writers can be and are often on the mark before the scientists
I can’t help but feel sad for the martians, they were unknowingly signing their own death certificate when they opened the cylinders that housed them, they were essentially sent away to earth to die slowly.
My goodness, thank you so much for recording this, this is stellar. I've looked around RUclips for an audiobook version of this novella and sampled maybe seven different ones, and only yours is exactly what I hoped to find. You have a great reading voice, just the right English accent for this story, and I also really appreciate that you did the full, unabridged novella. This deserves way more than just 21 likes. Would you be interested in making this available as a series of MP3 downloads as well?
Magnificent rendering of this classic! Your audio version brings it alive and grants an understanding of period and setting in a way mere print could not do.
Please - why has this been overlooked!?! This is easily the best reading of “The War of the Worlds” on the internet… Way better than - say - David Tennant’s version on Audible…
Many thanks -- I can promise there will never be any generative "AI" content on this channel. Stephen King is a bit trickier, though. H. G. Wells' work is in the public domain, as is the poetry that I've read on here; currently-living authors' published works are (rightly) copyright- and trademark-protected, and are thus off-limits for this kind of production.
This narration is superb!!! Sooo many audiobooks I just cannot listen too due to the readers jarring voices - this includes well known actors who narrate on Audible….Have you a list of books you have read?
@@Tom-sd9jb I have read only the last book of the trilogy...That Hideous Strength. It's not at all childish or written for children. It's quite absorbing. ruclips.net/video/iyW4QkhAmIA/видео.html

The best most pleasant audiobook version here on RUclips
The reading of this classic is just divine! I am loving listening to this while I paint miniatures.

The best reading. I listened to all
The narration for this story was so enthralling. A wonderful listen. Thank you so much!
“You’ll hear more yet” is such a funny line
Fantastic, Beautifully read. Grew up in Woking and had never read the book before. Thank you.
Excellent rendition and wonderful reading voice. Made War of the Worlds come to life
Can't believes im enjoying a book this short. Am I the only one who reads while listening the the audio?
Probably
I sometimes do it if I have a physical copy of the book
Yes. Yes, you are 🫢

This has becomed one of my favourite books ever
This is simply marvellous.
Great reader/narrator.
Pretty good delivery. Like the inflections of disgust when discussing the Martians' methods of feeding.
Nicely done.

WOW all the same here that is mad. I did the same.
Same here aswell , being from England myself I have to be very picky of whomever I grace my ears with. Silver spoon and what not 😂

Almost as if I was reading it myself. Well done.

The most listenable, all in one run, reading on RUclips. Fair play and thanks for not being American. It just sounds wrong to my ears.
Ouch. But i get it 😂 im American and i really like this guys voice. It fits the story very well
*whistle* bold project (length and iconicness) to take on. Power to ya for pulling it off ✊
This is fantastic i love your voice and your pacing and how you emote. Beautiful reading thank you so much ❤

Thankyou, good sir.
Thank you! I needed to read this for school and was not fast enough, now to listen to the last two hours. Splendid
Brilliant narrative. Your voice reminds me of the actor "Ioan Gruffud"

Amazing voice
I LOVE THIS
Thank you for not being AI! Beautifully narrated. Would you read Stephen King?

Here is a tip. Check for videos older than 2 years. They won't use robots, or if they do, they will be the rudimentary kind.
I ❤ this book
