Honestly the most important thing is to stay in budget, you'll enjoy yourself more. There are tons of good starter printers like Neptune (large build plate), Ankermake M5C ( fast+full metal hotend) and if you are okay with a little tinkering a classic Ender.
Something that I've been doing with great success is using white PETG as the support interface for PLA prints (or vice versa). You treat the supports as if they are soluble with zero contact distance and you make sure you purge the hell out of it so your model isn't brittle. If everything works out the supports just come right off with a perfect surface finish
There's an innovative revolution going on in regards of colorful 3d printing, too. Switching filaments makes a mess, too much waste and it's complicated. There is something so much better no one has thought about. Now I am building it
Roundabout 100W per hour, but it depends on the Material you are Printing because of the different Temperatures you need. And by the way: this wasn’t a silly question.
There are calculators out there that can help you figure out the exact price per hour of power. Your power company should be able to give you your wattage/hr price and based on what wattage your printer runs at and the time will help you get more exact numbers.
For some reason, the support material on this one is reminding me of the Shroob Forest. Theres an idea, print a shroob tree, but leave the support intact.

I haven't noticed any raise in electricity bills, so probably not much. Would be a cool experiment to measure just one printer.

That whole build plate was probably about 4 days. This machine is known more for quality than speed. Its not slow, but its not fast either.
