this was such a fun video to watch omg. i myself only ever buy an album if i love all the songs AND i like the album design. i just realized that i share many of the same preferences u do. wayv's album, as well as neozone, have been on my to buy list for a while, and now i have a couple more to add on. also, completely agree on the slip cover thing. i was mind blown by the first (and only...for now) slip cover album i owned, onf's you complete me. i feel like u would really enjoy bang yong guk's self titled album. it's this spiral bound book with a scrapbook/journal concept, even including the notes byg made while writing the album. being a self titled album, it fits the concept so well to have us see his process as a musician reflect his development as an artist and human. the whole album feels really personal and intimate. flipping through it is almost as if i'm holding byg's notebook in my hands. the visual design also fits the music thematically. the pages are printed to look distressed on purpose, and heavily leans into the vintage film/polaroid aesthetic. the notes and drawings look frenzied and in disarray, while many of the photos are more somber. this juxtaposition perfectly captures the kinds of tracks on this album, constantly fluctuating between softer jazzy hip hop vs. hard hitting diss tracks. the album itself is also very well made. the spiral binding makes it easy to flip through. the paper quality itself is nice, heavy enough that i don't have to worry about accidentally ripping or creasing it. altho i was disappointed that the front cover was not hard (could fold/bend easily), the back cover is a super thick, durable and sturdy cardboard, which protects the cd very well. the cd itself is in a protected pouch inside the back cover (which u mentioned u like!). i'm by no means a graphic designer, but even i can see the evidently huge amount of time and care put into creating this album (not to even mention the music itself). sorry i wrote a whole essay, lol. byg is my all time ult and i may be a little biased, but i was genuinely so proud and impressed with his first solo album.

They tend to put a bit thicker paper in their photobooks and glue them all together at the end, and they end up being very 'rough' to flip through. You can't really open a page fully without worrying if the page is going to loosen up a bit and even maybe fall out, and also you can'y look at the pictures quite properly when you can't open the album fully. Got an idea for a video :) Since you now have been in the collector community for a little while, and you must have learned a lot about collecting and trading at this point. What about a new video on how to start collecting, where you find your cards (channels), advice for collecting such as pricing, have patience, how to keep up with your collection etc :)
no because i literally bought an ode because of how pretty the envelope was LMAOOO but I feel u about the whole damaging thing cause mine came slightly bent in the post ): the whole aesthetic is so pretty but I wish they made it more practical.
I've never clicked so fast! I have a close friend who has schooling in graphic design, and I love hearing about albums from the angle of design. Taste is taste but there are certain principles of design that elevate an album, as a physical object. (Ugh, Take Over the Moon is SO good, my friend loved it as well.)
This was really fun to watch just to see what someone in the graphic design field thinks of kpop album packaging! If you ever decide to do more or even ones like what you would do differently for certain albums I would definitely watch!
this is the first time ive heard someone say that they love slip packaging. personally for me, it's really difficult to get the contents back in to the slip cover and the corners end up folding/ripping (especially with the neo zone album)
Yeah I find the oval weird too. Seems like it doesn't fit in the concept. Weird placement too. Looks like a child made it. 🙃 I prefer Lyrics book like the Monsta X Follow. I'm actually disapointed with the Neo zone N version concept. Wish I would have waited for the T. Even if I hate bag Packaging too 😅 pictures just seems better 👍
Or when Rainbow released two parts of their studio album and the parts were packaged extremely different. Or when APRIL released "The Ruby" and the album was this weird foldout thing. I can't look at the photobook without taking the disc out first. xd
The album packaging that I hate the most will always be jewel case. That’s why when Red Velvet released their albums like tprv, pv, i wasn’t too happy about it 😔😔😔
i mean, i don't even really stan nct/wayv, but the take over the moon album really is one of my favorite albums in terms of design
literally so gorgeous!
you should stan them 🥺
I'm a graphic designer and I personally dig ateez albums, I'm not sure why I like simple images that can be expressed in just a couple of colors

ahh thank you so much for such a detailed comment haha! I'm glad I was able to entertain you by discussing packaging and design haha! thank you so much for watching!
@@HONEYDEWMOCHI haha i think i got a bit to into it jdjda >.< i hope you make more of these videos!
Got an idea for a video :) Since you now have been in the collector community for a little while, and you must have learned a lot about collecting and trading at this point. What about a new video on how to start collecting, where you find your cards (channels), advice for collecting such as pricing, have patience, how to keep up with your collection etc :)
I can definitely do something like this!
no because i literally bought an ode because of how pretty the envelope was LMAOOO but I feel u about the whole damaging thing cause mine came slightly bent in the post ): the whole aesthetic is so pretty but I wish they made it more practical.
haha! it's so pretty aesthetically but I just hate flimsy envelopes and sticker seals lmaooo
I've never clicked so fast! I have a close friend who has schooling in graphic design, and I love hearing about albums from the angle of design. Taste is taste but there are certain principles of design that elevate an album, as a physical object. (Ugh, Take Over the Moon is SO good, my friend loved it as well.)
ah thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
loona albums. thats it period
This was really fun to watch just to see what someone in the graphic design field thinks of kpop album packaging! If you ever decide to do more or even ones like what you would do differently for certain albums I would definitely watch!
ahh thank you so much for the suggestion! I could definitely do that!
this is the first time ive heard someone say that they love slip packaging. personally for me, it's really difficult to get the contents back in to the slip cover and the corners end up folding/ripping (especially with the neo zone album)
How many "Uhm" did my ears hear. 😂
Even if
I hate bag Packaging too 😅 pictures just seems better 👍
I'm glad it doesn't only bother me haha!
Can you make this kind of video again? I would like to see it :)
I hate when an album is just a collection on postcards. For example LABOUM's "I'm Yours".
Or when Rainbow released two parts of their studio album and the parts were packaged extremely different.
Or when APRIL released "The Ruby" and the album was this weird foldout thing. I can't look at the photobook without taking the disc out first. xd
😍
why did this video not come when i was working on an album packaging project hhhh
but that's fine!
LOL I'm sorry I didn't make it sooner! :P
@@HONEYDEWMOCHI haha no problem!
The album packaging that I hate the most will always be jewel case. That’s why when Red Velvet released their albums like tprv, pv, i wasn’t too happy about it 😔😔😔
yeah...jewel cases usually just are not it for me either haha
@@HONEYDEWMOCHI 😭😭😭
127????? 🥺💜💚😉
*STRAY KIDS PLZZ*
um counter:
If you detach the postcards and put one on the front cover (with the slip cover), it will look like a magazine cover.
Like what you did with Follow. (hehe I commented before I watched that part)
I just randomly came here - i guess the video is good but the "UM" that repeats alll the time annoys so much!
If someone wanted to do this type of packing on their own where would they even start? Lol
