This song is actually one of those "kinda hidden" songs for Band-Maid.
it's not played very often live, no MV for it, it's has a different vibe to it. It's not pushed really by the band themselves - as if they want to stay it in the background - I don't know how to explain it better... The reason for it might be that it is very personal for some member.
"Azure" is actually Kanamis Tribute-and-Farewell song to Momoko Sakura, who was the creator of Kanamis favorite Manga "Coji-Coji". Momoko died in 2018 due to cancer... This song is Kanamis way of saying goodbye. The intro and outro are a direct tribute to the song "Neraiuchi" (there is a coji-coji connection) - Kanami plays the vocal melody of that one on guitar. And we do know Kanami is a HUGE "Coji-Coji"-fan... well if you see what a childish, sugar-sweet and weird manga/anime it is - that's Kanami in a nutshell XD (when she not holding a guitar)
Kanami and Miku don't ever talk about what the song is about or what direction it's kinda meant to go. Kanami never tells her what was in her mind when she composed it. She loves to hear how Miku interprets the music. They are kinda nerdy in that way ;)
Mikus lyrics here are spot-on. And afaik it's the rare time Kanami commented what she got the intention completely right - it's about sorrow, grief, yes, but it's very encouraging at the same time to move on. It's a bittersweet farewell "thank-you-for-everything" song. Written from the perspective of the person who passed away and is looking down to you - "I'll be the wind at your back"...
I knew the background story of the song and the meaning of the lyrics before - but boy did the song (lyrics) hit different as my dad passed a couple years ago...
One of the "side" songs - but I absolutely love it.

There's a literal Mariana Trench of deep cuts with this group. You need to check out "Youth", it's the rare bird.... only way to physically possess (legally 🥸) was to purchase the Limited Edition of Unseen World, no spotify or itunes. For the extra $40 over the regular version price, you got "Youth" and a bluray with some instrumental videos (The White Room). There is a Day of Maid live version from 2021 MV. I also suggest "without holding back", a kick-ass instrumental that was only on the regular version of Unseen World... there is a White Room MV for this song. So, yeah I have both copies of Unseen World, something that I've never done for any other band. 🤘

To pronounce Japanese names, you just need to know that their sounds are usually consonant-vowel (like "ka") or vowel (eg. "a"). Their vowels only have one pronunciation, unlike in English, and you can refer to the do-re-mi nursery song to find the vowel sound (and "u" in Japanese sounds like "oo"). So a-ka-ne ("a"/"ka" rhymes with fa/far, ne rhymes with re/ray), mi-ku ("mi" sounds like /me/, "ku" sounds like /koo/), and so on.
