    Half the people siding with the company would have no problem with US troops gunning down Iraqi children or overthrowing sovereign states.

I can just tell you're an idiot... it's weird how you can not see somebody's face or can only hear their voice but can just tell that they're an unintelligent idiot lol why are you defending these people is the question? do you drill for oil? do you know what exactly has gone on with that land and why all these people are standing up for it and protecting it? you're absolutely Clueless and it's kinda cute

    • @JustinPR612
      @JustinPR612 8 лет назад +25

      No, it's not just Native Americans claiming this land is theirs "Anon"... do you do your research at all? Do you know how much oil we have stockpiled? You think the greedy ass United States of America would let this nation run out of oil any time soon? Seriously man open your eyes and fucking get on Google for 5 minutes. Fuck pipelines... we need to conserve as much land as we can before it's all gone. You might be an old man that doesn't give a shit about the future but I'm only 24 and I refuse to sit back and let all you people turn this world into shit for my kids to see... and in the end it's all for $$$

    • @JustinPR612
      @JustinPR612 8 лет назад +15

      Okay well I apologize for the name calling I'm just sick of people following what the government says all the time and not standing up for themselves. Just wait... I probably would have been on your side when I was 19 also but a lot of s*** is going to open your eyes in these next few years I assure you that. There are plenty of great alternatives to this problem but that means these companies have to pay a little bit more money and that's where the greed comes in. Nevertheless we need an alternative to our fuel situation because this oil thing isn't going to work forever... better yet another 50 years so we need to do what we can to preserve nature and life while we can. Technology has come so far! Just look at some of these electric cars they are putting down faster times in combustion engines.

    • @JustinPR612
      @JustinPR612 8 лет назад +7

      ***** look at that! Lol two people that were enemies 20 minutes ago are now agreeing! But you are right about electric motors being exciting. I wasn't too fond on the idea at first (just because I love cars and combustion engines) but the truth is some of these newer electric cars can outperform gasoline engines. I can tell you're a smart dude you'll do just fine. You argue better than most full ass grown adults so props.

      David Davidson First of all, you need to learn how to spell, and stop with the fox 'news' talking points. The republicans appointed people to a committee that steamrolled all opposition to the pipeline, the big oil companies who grease all republican wallets, and then the republicans spoon feed you their own excrement and you devour it willingly. There is nothing communistic about reporting on facts and what is unfolding in front of a reporters own eyes. These dog handlers should be put in prison for using a deadly weapon against peaceful protestors. As for the 'they should buy the land' argument, you are obviously once again an ignorant fool, the corporations and republicans used the archaic 'imminent domain' law to just take away peoples lands, without as much as an argument. They are breaking tribal treaties that have existed for hundreds of years by just bypassing the tribal councils. Shame on you for not knowing anything about the situation, and then harassing people who actually know what is going on.

      Energy Transfer Partners is being allowed as a for-profit company to trump federal trust responsibilities guaranteed in the 1851 and 1868 United States treaties with the L/D/Nakota tribes, which remain the supreme law of the land as guaranteed in the US constitution.
      The proposed 1,172 mile long pipeline slated to carry fracked oil from the Bakken oil fields in North Dakota to Patoka, Illinois is ignoring pending legal action taken by the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and other Oceti Sakowin tribes of the Lakota/ Dakota/ Nakota Nation in an effort to lay as much pipe as possible while ignoring treaty law, the Clean Water Act, the National Environmental Policy Act, the National Historic Preservation Act, and the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act.

      Wrong. In North Dakota you can use deadly force, with no duty to retreat, if you are in your dwelling, place of work, occupied motor home or travel trailer and are reasonably fearful of death or serious bodily injury to yourself or another.
      These fuck sticks are lucky they're not in a morgue.

      Wrong. Varies by state and can include fearing seriously physical injury, protection of property, etc. Also who are you to say whether or not they were in danger? Did you not see the protesters throwing rocks and wielding slabs of wood?

People are defending the company saying the native americans don't own the land. I guess they are expected to just sit quietly like the rest of us, be brainwashed by tv and our sugar filled diets. Live in our blissful ignorance and wait until the poisons they are dumping into our land, air, and water gives us cancer and we slowly die.

      I've been looking for a comment with some logic. Everyone saying that the "pipeline" guys were bad and evil i see it from another standpoint. The guys on the bulldozers and even the security were hired by the "bad" guys to do a job they all have families and they are there to do a job to feed their families. I do not know much about the situation there either, but i can say that going after the workers is wrong. You have a problem with it go after the people making the decisions not the guys just doing their jobs.

      They weren't going after the workers. They wanted to get in the way of the bulldozers, but not to attack the workers just to shut down the bulldozing. The physical confrontations you see are the pipelines hired goons, the security guys. And this "just doing your job" excuse is bullshit. When your job is to destroy these peoples' water supply -- maybe you should use your conscience and find another job. You really want to feed your family the suffering and misery of other people?

    • @Changtent
      @Changtent 8 лет назад +7

      "Just doing their jobs"???; They were hired to run bulldozers. They weren't hired to commit violence. A proper response from the workers when the protesters breached the fence, would be to stop the machines and back away. Wait for Legal Real Police to arrive.
      Bring on the law suits; apparently the private security company WAS hired with pre-meditated intent to commit violence, showing NO remorse for their action, and failing to provide aid to injured persons.

    Idk why people think the protesters deserved to be pepper sprayed and attacked. Idk why you guys say that the protesters were trespassing. According to a CNN article published today, Sept. 5th, the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe filed a emergency report stating that the oil pipeline was destroying burial grounds and sacred places of worship of the tribe. The oil pipeline company are the ones that should have been charged with trespassing. I do understand why the pipeline is being made, but it should be made without trespassing the tribes land.

Saying it's not the indigenous people's land and pipelines are safe to transport oil. ... over 100 different tribes (and continues to grow) are standing up against the big corporations who will destroy the earth. Andy Drumburg So whats your point? So we should all renounce our land and leave? I dont get the point of noting that is unless you mean to say that land should be somehow given to the tribe. The problem with that is where does that end? So the local farmers who have had nothing to do with the natives that bought this land just lose it?!

    • @jakobitaliaferro200
      @jakobitaliaferro200 8 лет назад

      No I'm not advocating renouncing the land and leaving because it's far too late to do something like that and even the Native Americans most of whom anyways would make similar if not the same statement that I just made. But the point is that this pipeline will destroy the environment and rob the Sioux of any rights they have left. Since the colonization of this great and massive continent, we have pushed the original inhabitants to the curve for our own foolish and selfish interests. Again I know that we can't just up and leave and give this whole continent back to the Native Americans because there's no way that something like that would or could happen, but this pipeline poses a threat to the rights of the Sioux and other Native Americans as well.

    • @schouvler25
      @schouvler25 8 лет назад +1

      Andy Drumburg What threat does it pose? A possible contamination of the Missouri River? Theres been dozens of inspectors from the state and the army engineer crew who have approved the project with several safety measures in place. As for destroying the environment, were already sending oil by rail with is far more dangerous and impactful on the environment. I fail to see what rights of the tribes that are infringed upon with a pipeline NOT on tribal land with numerous oversights. If they can intervene on private us soil why cant i go onto tribal land and cut nets? This protest hinders on a double standard which could trigger a problematic precedent.

      look at all those native retards creating a shit show and once again slowing down the country's progress. The security guards should of been armed with guns. Peaceful water protesters? Those natives stormed a private construction site, created a shit show and then freaked out when security did their job.

      I suppose from the other side the argument would be that the dogs were brought to protect the workers from the protesters. Seems legitimate to me.

      +Neoteric Phoenix There are dozens of pipe lines that cross this river and its tributaries. They pose more risk than this one does to 'your' water.
      No, I think there is a larger political component behind the actions of those who organized this lawlessness.

    All these Natives depend on modern amenities such as power, plumbing, grocery stores, etc. All of which would not be possible without petroleum. If they still lived off the land in Tepees I would understand, but they are fighting against the very system they depend on. A little pollution here and there isn't ideal, however we all have to make sacrifices for living in modern civilization, even the Natives. You can't have the best of both worlds.

    • @fanglo
      @fanglo 8 лет назад +19

      You are 100% right, all Natives depend on things to survive. One thing you failed to list in your list was water. Everyone needs water. This pipeline threatens the water supply. The sooner American can stop using petroleum for all the things you mentioned in your list the better of we will be.

    • @Volcanomars

      So what your telling me is ..... Electricity is made thru petroleum? And plumbing runs on oil? Lol indians lived a less shit world than what easterners made it to be

    • @joerogaine3093
      @joerogaine3093 8 лет назад +1

      Tibby Ek Everything depends on oil. Plumbing can't be installed or maintained without trucks to deliver the pipes and transfer the workers. Pipes themselves can't be made without energy and transportation of materials through trucks. I'm sure its easy to think these things magically create themselves, but thats not the case.

    • @fanglo
      @fanglo 8 лет назад

      You are correct in that the current way of doing a lot of things requires oil, but it doesn't have to. We need to invest in Research and development of cleaner ways of doing those tasks. There are already many ways that we can use other types of cleaner oil to do this. Mostly oil from some type of plant. We need to research more and figure out how to do this.
      I'll leave you with one last thought, which will be easier to do on mars, import oil by spaceship or grow some plant that provides the oil? For me the future is space, it has to be and that is where we need to focus.

    • @joerogaine3093
      @joerogaine3093 8 лет назад

      fanglo I don't know if the future is Space. The nearest possible inhabitable planet is 12 light years away, which would take thousands of years to travel. We could colonize Mars but that would take some advanced air filtration systems and would be incredibly expensive. It would be easier to just stay here and fix this planet.

    We can support the protesters by minimizing our use of fossil fuel energy. If no demand, we can minimize the supply.
