You’re right! Sorry for the confusion. I meant to say that this is the first Altra model featuring BOA. And based on what I’ve heard, the two sets of overlapping panels wrapping the foot are unique, creating more connection points for a locked-in instep, midfoot, and forefoot. Additionally, BOA has never been more extensively involved in the testing and designing of the shoe
@@RunMoore you probably need to look at the Speedland shoe if you want to see BOA’s best integration into a running shoe. That shoe has two BOA locks and straps over the foot. That said, this Altra is a nice looking shoe
North Face did the first Boa trail running shoe back in early 2000s it was awesome i owned 4 pairs till it was discontinued. Im pumped to have it brought back with another great brand. Thanks for the info.
Awesome! Really looking forward to this one. Noticed on your site, the sizes for this shoe go up to 12.5. As a size 13, wondering if that might be added to the arsenal as the August release date approaches? Cheers!

ITS NOT THE FIRST TIME DOING IT ON A RUNNING SHOE SINVE IN AUGUST 2021, A YEAR AGO, SPEEDLAND LAUNCHED THERE FIRST TRAIL RUNNING SHOE USING SAME DOUBLE DIAL BOA SYSTEM, CARBITEX CARBON PLATE AND MICHELIN OUTSOLE!
That's a serious knot you've got there. You should patent it! I tend to just go w/ a double know. Works fine most of the time. Or I go w/ Lock Laces....I really enjoy them and have put them in a bunch of my shoes. I don't have the need for an elite trail shoe like this....but it looks intriguing. I'm a little wary of the boa laces since they're just so thin.....you might assume they could break easily. But I know this is BOA's thing....so they must know what they are doing. I suspect they're much stronger than they look.
Hii! Thank you so much for another great video! I´m looking for a new pair of trail shoes as I´m getting ready for an upcoming race. It´s moutain ultramarathon - 101Km and + 5 500m elevation. Very technical terrain, steep uphills and downhills, rocks, mud, roots, part of the race is during the night. Would you reccomend Altra Olympus 5 or Mont Blanc boa? I wear barefoot all the time so I need some wide, comfy shoes, max cushioning is a priority. Thank you!
I haven't watched all of the video so I might have missed this but how is the heel lock on this? Altra's are notorious for having loose heels which is super annoying for me.
I was wondering in shoe size i should order? My normal shoes is 42 and my foot is 26.6cm I have in my lone peak 42 EU Rivera 42.5 EU Superior 5 42.5 EU
Does the forefoot (Orange) plastic dial..apply any pressure with its Own application. Example-indentation as it tightens. Thinking of trying it...in Aug.

Can you find /Tell me shoes which use this system and have also s wide Toe Box/area so i could move my toes forefood a little flexibel? I really would apreciate your Help. Greetings from Germany tobias
Thanks for watching the video! Unfortunately, we aren't knowledgeable about models that incorporate the BOA system. BOA technology is seen more in cycling shoes and boots. There aren't a lot of options for a wide toebox BOA shoe that we know.
Performance shoe prices across the board are rising, for every expensive Altra, there is a more expensive counterpart from larger brands. Unfortunately, that is just the market right now.

Ego max is in the shoe not ego pro, ego max sucks and flattens out after 60 miles, and I weigh abt 165lbs. I would not recommend buying a 200 dollar shoe with such a foam in it.
BOA dials are on lots of different running shoes and have been for years. Adidas Terrex, La Sportiva, Speedland, I'm pretty sure there are others.
Saucony, too.
And Asic!

Thanks, just reviewing these now for my channel and this was really interesting to watch, thanks Steve :)
The midsole is ego max not ego pro. Ego max is on their regular shoes like the torin and timp 👍
Yes that's right, that is what I get for not having coffee before doing this video in one take. Oops!
@@RunMoore it is also on the vanish-non carbon
That "Steve" lacing - genius!
Thank you!
I loved my Dynafit Pantera X7 with Boa. Hope these are as nice.
I believe the midsole is actually ego max (like the Torin and Paradigm) and not ego pro (like the Vanish).

I have the exact same question.
Running Warehouse says it goes to 14.
This is not BOAs first running shoe. The speedland pdx and hsv both use BOAs higher end dial.
higher end?
Saucony Switchback ISO was a running shoe with boa system, as the comment below notes this is definitely not the first running shoe that has used boa

Great review, thanks. Please tell, is there more toes protection material compared to regular Mont Blanc?
Northface did it years ago. I remember Dean K wore them.
Any chance you’ll be adding more sizes soon, like say a 12? Asking for a friend (it’s me, I’m the friend).

Are you doing a review of the new Topo Pursuit, or do you not carried Topo in your store?
We do not carry Topo at the moment

Both saucony and adidas have used boa.
also new balance on their 1500 triathlon version, or the speedland sl pdx
@@TOXIN543 also LaSportiva Cyklon has it.
not true. BOA has done collaborations with Speedland, particularly the SL:HSV. Be careful when you say "first"

The pressure from the forefoot dial is quite spread out, it doesn't create a pressure point from what I noticed in my demo pair
@@RunMoore Good to hear...I may give em a go in Aug...as Fall feels like it will be early this year in WA State-should be fun shoes.

Do you ship to Mauritius? Thanks.
Unfortunately we are only able to ship within the US right now
What is the level of water resistance on these? I can't stand trail shoes that allow so much water inside.....should make most trail shoes GTX

@@RunMoore i wonder why they didn't bother with a salomon or early hoka type lock lace? or, never did, still hasn't, or maybe never will?
@@lyrilljackson Lock lace gets loose, it's just easier to adjust than regular lace. Boa, on the other hand, doesn't get loose at all.

210 dollars really? that's ridiculous greed. I won't wear them 4 times wash them 3 and the sole start to seperate like 99% of all running shoes?
