I went to the Donnelly farm early last year. I was surprised how far the church was from the homestead. I turned to my mom and said, I can't believe 60 to 80 people walked all this way, drunk, in the middle of the night and no one noticed. The farmhouse itself was much smaller than I ever imagined. It's almost mythical how such a huge infamous crime happened on such a small plot of land.
Wow it was so nice and quiet out there. Reminds me a lot of LaFontaine and that area. So much history out there, so nice to see that the grave is well kept and visited frequently. ❤
Well my comment got deleted, i named the Canadian book i did a book report on in jr high. It told the story very well. Itvwas called "The Donnellys must d....". They were wild and violent and thats what sparked the parish to uprise against them.
