Thank you Maam, when aarohan swaras are being sung some singers go straight from Sa to (uchcha ) Sa sequentially . Some singers come back one or two sawaras backward and then go forward. Samething is being done in avrohan also. I know this this to maintain the beauty. My question is , is there a rule to say for which ragas we can practice this way of singing and for how many swaras we can come back and go forward or is it solely on the choice of the singer.

Good question. When singing aaroha and avaroha singer must sing it very straight from one swara to next swara. For ornamentation yes you can sing sa to uchha sa with a meend, or by with using touch notes relevant to a particular raga. This is allowed when singing alaap and tans. Hope this is helpful to you.
