I listen to this for the same reasons you mentioned. Don’t know how or why; it just works. Wish there was a 20 minute version and that guitar right at the end where Billy’s just rolling off on those notes at the last moment so they feel ‘late’! Any other guitarist and you’d think it’s a mistake but he’s totally immersed in that moment and you KNOW it’s perfect. Love it.

He wants to touch hands!" I was 18 years old then, and like a lot of other things at that age, had no real grasp of how significant that gesture was.

Funny, I was just listening to Comfortably Numb live and this song popped into my head next.
It's a pentatonic blues solo. Most of Gilmour's solos follow suit.
I really like the studio version, but I have to say I like this particular live version even more. Billy adds some warm and wonderful sounds here.
