      this was very useful video ,but I was bit confused by an apparent contradiction in your comments ; your advice was to use the soothing sounds sparingly, not all the time , only when the tinnitus was bothering you . Then you also said the military research said it was benficial to have low level sounds all the time ?

    Im not such a great fan of audiologists or ent's . They unfortunately have never been of any help to me .I like Mr Hills approach , and also Adrian Dickenson has been of true benefit in helping me reduce my own T . These two are by far the best individuals within youtube . I was a major skeptic but its true one can make a recovery from T.

    Great job Ben. This is just great advice. Gosh...new tinnitus sufferers need this support so much.
    If they embrace your advice...they will change the conditions that allowed the onset of tinnitus and move them steadily in positive, healthy direction.
    Everything this man said is spot on folks. No surprise that Julian associates with him!
    If you are suffering and scared. Know you will not only survive, but recover and thrive again. Every success will be yours and you will control much more of your life and who and what can affect it😊.
    All the best.

      @@Lin-uv9mt Hi there! 14 years is tough. Suffering 14 years is eternity. I feel for you and wish you healing. Know this….please
      First, the ringing is not going “away,” you won’t hear it when you heal but it is there if you hunt for it. There is an underlying anxious insecure personality in all of us with tinnitus. I skirted getting better for YEARS. I always had ringing since childhood. I was a scared insecure boy. However 4/4/97 it kicked up so loud it was deafening. I was in the Army and had a ton of stress. I got habituated after years of work but did not change my lifestyle or work on myself and BAM on 6/2/18 the tinnitus increased to complete bedlam that spun me out of work, life and everything. It put me on the couch blubbering. I came back and took my wellness seriously finally. It took so much work and repeated failure. I finally accepted…
      1. There was no pill or cure
      2. There were things I was responsible for that were the underlying causes of my tinnitus
      3. I needed therapy
      4. It would take years
      5. I needed a routine and would have to give up much of what I thought made me ME.
      6. I was gonna do it for my grown kids and my wife. No giving up on them.
      It is a job everyday to stay on the level. My tinnitus tells me if I am messing up. If I exercise, meditate, check in on myself, have no sugar no carb diet, focus outward on others instead of me and above all fill myself with the Lord…I sleep 6 hours a night and barely ever hear my ears. Wellness is possible again. I don’t want silence if it means being the stupid blind person I used to be. I will take this burden of tinnitus if it makes me a better human…and yes there are days that I can’t hear it😃. They are few but they are happening because of constant efforts to bring myself down…
      Believe in yourself. There is no magic, just your strength and that is enough. I will pray for you and all those suffering with tinnitus.

    I agree one should avoid negativity and tragic stories related to tinnitus, I don’t agree however that reading about success stories of people who found relief or eliminated their tinnitus by taking supplements, alternative medicine, or possible new treatments should be avoided. One can follow a TRT program while trying to find a treatment that can really get rid of tinnitus.

    • @JulianCowanHill
      @JulianCowanHill  4 года назад +7

      For me coming out of fight or flight was what helped the most. Providing therapy is a very direct and powerful way of working with people and providing a lot of support which brings about significant changes. Positive tinnitus stories not only provide hope, but inspire people to get the right kind of help. TRT can be useful for some but it wasn't for me.

    I have tinnitus for two weaks, it vary on frequence, but when i nicely massage my neck, head, skull muscles and massage ear loops or behind them on those specific places (for a couple of minutes) my tinnitus i s -60% and it last like that for some time. It's not that bad but what i want to ask (i still need to see ORL) does it mean that in my case it's almost certain that on of the biggerst trigger for tinnitus is neck/scull muscles? My advice is to get hands-on help to calm your nervous system down and practice many of the techniques on my app which you can find here: www.quietenapp.com
      You can invest in musician's earplugs to help in the interim, but the big win comes when you come out of fight or flight and your whole auditory system sensitivity resets itself back to normal. Then sounds on the inside and round to you no longer sound too loud.

    Hi Julian, I am new to your channel and really liked your positivity. I got tinnitus about two months ago. It came and then went away and came back again. My GP initially said its the ear wax. But ear wax removal did not help either. I realised like my T is following the same pattern as my post nasal drip (pollen). Is it possible? My GP just did the covid test whenever i went to see them again. I am too afraid to go back there. I have been doing breathing exercises (pranayama) and hoping to get better. Thanks a lot for your work :)

    • @JulianCowanHill
      @JulianCowanHill  4 года назад

      Yes - nasal drip causes inflammation and irritation in the ENT area. You may be sleeping with your mouth open causing the throat to get too dry during sleep and causing overproduction of mucous to help compensate. This is like having a minor cold the whole time. If this is the case you could try putting a bit of micropore tape over your lips to encourage you to sleep with your mouth closed. This can help.

    • @deepikakanyan5831

      @@JulianCowanHill Thank you for answering that above. I, too, have been wondering if sinus infection/allergies/ear infections (both ears at the moment) could have been the initial cause of tinnitus for me beginning in 2017. I did very well with it after about a month of two of crying/sadness; however, with this current bout of both ears being infected (swimmer's ear), I find that it has amped up so much and now I have ringing in both ears. The right was the only one affected but the left one just started ringing a bit today and I am on the last antibiotic pill. This is actually viral, come to find out, but the antibiotic was needed just in case it was bacterial. Lots of people are having this viral illness apparently. I remember having swimmer's ear in both ears as a child and the screaming in my head and pressure was something I haven't forgotten. I believe it is the same thing I am experiencing now. I was getting worried that it was coming back and louder than than ever but I do believe the pressure from the sinuses/ears is what is causing it. Thank you, thank you, thank you for all of your help! Just purchased your book, also, and am enjoying reading it. This, too, shall pass.

    So I know I have T and I'm pretty sure I have hyperacusis but I don't know what caused it. I had been under a lot of stress over something I was obsessing over and I would put headphones on and listen to videos on youtube with the volume loud. I have had these issues for about five months and I don't know what to do. I don't have enough money to go to the doctor, I don't have insurance and I don't have the patience for yoga or meditation, possibly due to my ADHD. I'm also autistic so that doesn't help. If someone could give some tips or something on how to deal with this I would forever thankful.

      You are temporarily super-activated just now. So one irritable part of the body can be activated by another irritable part. Nervousness in one place reacts to another. Its like being stung by one mosquito but this triggers a sensitive skin reaction and you feel itchy all over. When you switch off and settle all of the reactions calm down, including tinnitus.
