The discount tickets are sold up to the day of the fair before it opens. This year (2024) Early sales were online, at the fairgrounds and the NC History Museum. Also the park and ride at the Dogwood lot was free and effortless! The charter busses were nice, clean and flowing back to back with zero wait time. 10/10 every... been parking there for the past 4 years ❤
Yes the Dogwood Lot was the place for my family too. Easy entry , wait time to load on bus was like 10 minutes. Next year already hubby said we will do each week at the Fair. 💯‼️
Also too NCSU have buses called Wolfline (the buses are free to the public as well) and they have a bus that goes out there by the State Fairgrounds. It drops students off at a bus stop across from the fairgrounds (during the weekdays).

I’ve missed the NC state fair the past 2 years since moving but I would always get the kettle corn & fried strawberry cream puffs!
I knew about catching the city bus, but not Amtrak. I will pass the Amtrak information along to people that like to the state fair.
Got here too late 😢, maybe next year!!
