@Toxic Potato actually most npc’s (especially in districts under Albion) will generally dislike you, and you can’t even try to recruit them. Not to mention causing civilian casualties/injuries may make some npc’s hate you, depending on their relation (ex. If they’re a suspect or rival, killing them will act make them more willing to join you, but if it’s a relative/significant other then they’ll hate you).

I never touched the spider drone, I never upgraded it, at most I used the stationary drone, but only as a defensive options when things go south and for collectibles, never for objectives.
My play-style was "Execution dominance". Most of my characters needed to have a custom handgun like a revolver or a deagle, but I never actually shot any bullets outside animations, all I was doing, was running up in stealth or loud to enemies and just takedown them, or melee them with fists, equip gun, then execute them to assert dominance. The fun grew exponentially when I've got a hitman, as they can takedown if a weapon is equipped even if they spot you. I was just blazing through every single outpost, executing every single one of them and I think in my last 7 hours of gameplay, I have used only the electroshock grenade launcher for drones, I have fired 0 bullets outside the execution animations. Also I've played with elders, and that was amazing.
    I had a lot of fun *10/10*

Or hell, even Assassin's Creed Brotherhood. That way, instead of the protagonists being random characters with zero plot, there could have been a few main characters, and every recruit provide bonuses (like research points for upgrades) or be used for side "operations" to earn money, materials or whatever.

75% of all operatives I recruited now started with the spider pre-equiped as their gadget except the one or two Assault Rifle carrying who got the one-hit electric mines or one-hit shock fist.
The game was quite a breeze unless I intentionally challenged myself, even then the Auto-Hide enemy bodies to avoid alerting other guards made stealth even easier especially when using the spider as it can do that as well, just not automatically.
tl;dr avoid the spider drone or (many other gadget and upgrades for that matter) if you want anything close to challenge.

I think a hard reboot or soft reboot of this franchise with Aiden Pierce or Aiden Pierce-ish unhinged vigilante type character that actually explores some of the moral questions that the first game kinda hints at would maybe move this franchise in better direction. A big criticism of the first game was the fact that it took itself super seriously, so in response in the second game the devs decided to lighten the tone and make it much more flashy and silly. The issue with that is the fact that the light silly tone kind of undercuts the stories messages about how bad corporate surveillance is. Now with Legion they've made it even more flashy and silly so it's just kinda like Saints Row with computers and hacking which subverts any real message that could've been made and turns it into just another video game filler plot.
The gameplay has also significantly changed since the first game as well. People forget how good the gameplay was if you ignore stealth. It basically turned into a John Wick simulator. Now combining a well written more punisher-ish type story with fast John Wick gunplay that deemphasizes stealth and a more complicated hacking system (like having to do more prep to use a hack) would be a hella good game.

    • @UmJammerChelle
      @UmJammerChelle 3 года назад

I haven't played Legion and probably won't anytime soon because of the whole Ubisoft mess going on right now, but I think a middle ground between Watch Dogs 1 and 2 would be good for the tone. Aiden Pierce was too serious of a protagonist for me in a game whose story fell kinda flat imo. I liked the lighter tone in the second game, but it went too far and the characters felt like internet trolls in their teens. Every serious moment got undercut by the protagonists going right back to talking about pop culture references and memes afterwards.
I'd like to see a Watch Dogs game where a hopeful group of vigilantes start out with grand ideas of being conquering heroes against the evil corporation, but get discouraged about whether or not what they're doing is right after having to resort to tactics that hurt real people and not just the faceless corporation they're opposing. I'd also like to see an in depth reputation system that changes based on how you play the game. e.g. If you have to resort to violence in missions then Dedsec starts getting a violent reputation that makes average people less willing to support your cause, but the types of people who want a violent revolution will start causing chaos in your name. If you go in for a more stealthy approach, then Dedsec starts winning over the general population and more peaceful forms of protest and defiance start happening as a result.

No joke, the spider drone bends the game over it's knee. With a cargo drone, it's just no trouble. Better yet, there are cameras and drone summoning platforms all over, so you don't even need the construction worker.
And beekeepers. Summon a swarm of bee sized drones and watch the fun. I had the one you're given for liberating a district, and I got a 77 year old man. If I could have changed his name, he'd have been Buzz "The God of Bees" Kilroy, flying around on a cargo drone, flinging spiders and swarms of bee robot drones upon the wicked PMCs of Albion as he liberated one district at a time. If I kept the game until I beat it, I'd have had him beat the final mission.
All his life, Buzz was an ordinary beekeeper, until one day, oppression drove him to join a group of heroic hackers. Upon learning all he could about hacking (and he learned fast because he's the cool grandfather of DedSec's crew), he took the fight to the oppressors, using spider drones and a truckload of mechanized bee drones. At the age of seventy seven, Buzz "The God of Bees" Kilroy became a modern day legend. At the ripe old age of ninety four, he passed in his sleep moments before the Templars could break in and capture him. The Templars passed when the quarter ton of dynamite went off while they watched Buzz's final video tell them to suck pollen.

there are definitely things I would have done differently on the recruit system for legion.
for one I wish they had more gadgets (like maybe add the blackout and jam comms hack back in as a "gadget", an ar decoy to draw enemies away or make them think they killed you to re enter stealth, etc.) or made the other gadgets more useful since I find most of my operators have the ar cloak on, only my hacker (the game hands you one in like, the 2nd mission btw) and some journalists with a news drone (ez picture snaps) has the spider bot since hackers op when doing things remotely, only reason i used anyone else was boredom or because you couldn't do it 100% remotely. gave the shock knuckles to my 3 melee guys for obvious reasons, my hitman 1 has the explosive drone, and my drone expert has the spider bot turret. everyone else? ar cloak by default because its op. bout to die? cloak. security? cloak. need a fast takedown? cloak. useing a disguise and someones about to detect you? cloak. need to lose a wanted level? literally cloak and walk around a corner, hell if you got a statue guy or a janitor just cloak and use the emote you'll literally vanish to the ai. (and no the ai doesn't find it sus that someone suddenly materialized in front of them.)
that and some of the upgrades make some traits redundant, like why is drone betray a thing when you can get team wide upgrades to make drones betray your enemy anyway? should have made it so you can train a dedsec perk to an operators empty perk slot if they have one, for example, instead of always having two weapon slots (or rather carry two dedsec weapons at once if they have a gun already you can still use the empty slot. btw ubi where's my LTL sniper rifle? i wanna throw that on a construction worker.) you could give an op a "fully loaded" perk to carry two guns, or give the ar shroud as a perk, or the drone betray hack if they don't already have it, or let an op carry a gun type they don't have access to (fyi in legion you cant use say, an assualt rifle for example unless that op comes with one but if they do you can swap it out with any ar anyone else has on your team has, this ignores dedsec weapons in the upgrade tree), etc. to me legion's concept works best when you limit what each character can do so you have to play around their strengths, not when everyone can ar cloak and spider bot a base out and kill everyone with the drones patrolling the street. (also should probably mandate a visit to hq to change loadouts after the first time since being able to swap gear at will makes everyone feel even less unique.)
lastly they need to add a "support" pool separate from the main pool for people your never going to play for like, 10-15 ops that boost their passives at the cost of making them unplayable until you move them back to the "active" pool, and you'll be able to transfer people between them at hq. and don't try to tell me the dude with a +money passive and passive gambling (that doesn't work while actively playing them lmao) adds anything to gameplay because if I wanted a dude with no perks, I would have recruited one (yes the game does roll people with no perks occasionally) and the game is capping me at around 40 ops so I want them all to play somewhat differently, not have 6 reskins of the same +money, clothes discount guy, -jail time, etc. because I want the bonuses to stack. that said I wouldn't mind someone with 3 useful perks and that just so happens to have a passive staying in active for example.
and that's just the ops, don't get me started on how cops just know where you are instantly and what crime you committed without anyone calling the cops like in wd 1&2 (like I dropped an explosive with a construction drone remotely and the cops immediately pulled up to my exact gps cords and whipped out the batons), like I can buy firing a single round in the sky will bring albion down on you instantly in an oppressed district, but surely the security's more lax in liberated one's right?

Actually, a packet of Jaffa Cakes is just the right size to block the goal area of an air hockey table, so it'd be impossible to score against it, but possible that the puck rebounds into your own goal...
    Just sayin'...

It's a fun ass sandbox. Just know what you're going into, and go all out. I love doomed characters.
