Gassed up is probably my favourite subtronics song, I love the sustained bass.
hieroglyph and funked were easily my immediate favorites, but most of the other songs grew on me
decent album fs. glad everyone is on board with funcked being the best song. the one thing that turns me off to a lot of the ideas on here is the offbeat reggae notes and that like ganja weed style with the cheesy melodies, it's so corny to me. metafractals sustains are god awful but outside of that the album as a whole is not bad. still think it's genius how subtronics combines a classic dubstep style with new age plinky sounds and overblown saturation, the style works so well for him
Subtronics intros and outros have levelled up quite a lot

For all your opinion on Subtronics' production, it still surprises me that you worked together on the Lovecraftian Horrors. Guess Jesse started softclipping after 2017, but it's cool that you're still friends.

He did it before I reccon BUT I changed my production a lot and I learned a lot of how I want my sound to be. In 2017 I didn't know shit and my production was pretty bad. He was faaaaaar ahead of me back then so obviously I was excited as fuck to work on that collab

It’s funny how some songs have grown on me over time more and some other have lost their initial magic, but all in all I think it was a fantastic album. I have to say Gassed up does have a clipping bass but oddly enough it was more distorted than usual on this video could it be a bit compression issue or something that RUclips decoded differently that made it sound like that? It definitely sounds different on Apple Music.
audio compression algorithms have a hard time with white noise, and on top that the crazy distortion.
Funny you brought up The Devils when I was thinking of mixing Funcked with it. Fucking love The Devils. Had to put the shit on loop for almost a week lol

Why is it a bad thing if tracks or fake-outs are "too long" even if they sound good?? Our music nowadays is so fucking tik tok like shortened and heavily squished as never before. Why everyone likes that? So weird I dont get it, feels like everyone is looking for the quick shot of heroin or something. Muertes Track with 4min was too long?? Cyclops Rocks was good because it was only 2min? Whats wrong with this generation. No one can take a little more time for a song and appreciate it no matter how good the production and passion behind it is, just sad.

The melodies on this album are too similar for their own good, the album should've definitely had different sequencing and longer songs. Pretty fun listen still.

Ima be honest....
I don't see what's special about FUNcKD...(Which is odd cause I am a big mid-tempo fan) (Also is it mid-tempo or house? Can't tell...Ima say it's mid-tempo for now)
But anyways, I think the song's fine but I do not like the overly distorted mix down. That's the thing that keeps me from wanting to return to the song. If it sounded less distorted and clippy, I would like it like... 88% more.
In fact you know what? Ngl...He$h & Versa's remix...was cooler. Yeah it's a little repetitive but the production/songwriting is like...10 times better. (although my only problem with that remix is the fact that Versa is literally non-existent in that remix. Having Versa guns in the second drop or something would have been super cool)
Is this a bad take of mine? I Dunno. I'm not saying this to be a hater but I would've really liked FUNcKED if the mix down was better. (It could've been a favorite of mine, but the mix down ruins it for me)
...Oh yeah my personal favorite for this album was literally the first track, O.P.U.S. I also really loved Open Your Mind and Cabin Fever (Cabin Fever has the coolest fakeout in a 2nd drop I've ever heard) O.P.U.S. is an amazing opener for an album and it sounds good too. Best song on the album. (My least favorite was either Gassed Up or FUNcKED, I've already explained FUNcKED, and Gassed Up...holy crap that sustain sucked, and I'm not a fan of the lyrics)

It's crazy how split I am on this album. Some of it was very boring imo and some of it was really really good
The biggest disappointment for me was Spacetime since I really like the vocals and intro but the drops absolutely ruin the vibe
Yea same for me with metafractal i love first drop but i m not a fan of the switch :) especialy after that sick build up rly liking the sounds but when drop come meh. Anyway great first drop and decent album for me. Hieroglaph my fav to
