Unfortunately, a week after this video was shot, the car met a fatal end. Abid is well and no one was injured but the car is no more. Sorry to hear about what happened to the car. I had a 230i coupe and whilst perhaps not as cheap as this car I felt that it struck the perfect balance between an affordable premium, performance and fuel economy.
Yes it's a shame but life goes on and no doubt Abid will bounce back. You'd be very surprised at the fuel economy of a 235/240. The 230 has to work a lot harder to give the performance an N55/B58 block can do without being pushed. My M135i was quite fuel efficient if I'm honest.
Another good review Mizan. Absolute shame what happened to Abid’s car. A 118i is the perfect car to jump into as a young driver like myself when i had mine, but abid’s was the ultimate 118i. Plenty enough power for the roads. I’m lucky enough to have had a 140 at the age of 19 so let’s hope Abid gets an M135i/M140i for his next one 🙌
It's heartbreaking honestly, Ben. Not sure if you've seen the images and videos circulating on social media. I think if you're a BMW enthusiast then a 118 is the perfect entry level car before an M Lite. Lots of power for that 1.6L engine as well. It's a shame the tale of this car ended the way it did
LOL "well done, it's a 118i, not a 116, good for you!" hahahaha as someone who just bought a 118i this made me laugh! I had no idea I was buying a hot hatch, I just liked how it looked and what it had in it - now I'm watching loads of videos about these cars and getting the jokes - what am I becoming!!!
Big engine bay for a 4 pot is completely ideal, can work on it so easily. The space issues you discuss at the start are purely because this is a 3 door, the 5 doors have plenty of space, the most in its class. 395Nm torque? These engines only take 350 on stock internals man. Anyone young looking at these cars, do it, but please get a manual.
The reason why these are very small in terms of interior space is because the engine bay is setup for a longitudinal engine and thus there's more bonnet than needed which eats into interior space
You're correct. I didn't think think the MK7 GTI was 217BHP. Considering that MK5 produced 200BHP, I thought the MK7 would be at least 245BHP but guess not.
I've had a CLA45 AMG on the channel and compared it against my BMW M135i at the time. I'd be happy to review a A45 by itself if someone was to offer me one
@@abidmenezes1227 yeh that makes sense.. 255's give a lot of traction on 1ers.. my 245's are decent tho.. but i like to be able to slide haha. Sucks to see a car go like that mate😔hopefully you wil come back stronger🤙✌️
@@CarNitty nope is not but well I even forged the engine but 1.6L pushing too much the engine is too small but the gear box I heard they said using the same as 135i no issue with gearbox
@@CarNitty I think is more than that for the yaris haha maybe is just that the engine is old and build that way ,but after all is quite a good drive tho manage to smoke a v6 Mark X with a 1.6L
It would, I didn't realise at the time of the shoot a MK7 GTI produces 216BHP and 7.5 produces 245BHP and 125i has around 220 so this tuned 118i is in the league of a 7.5
Honestly I wouldn't be encouraging a younger person to spend all their money on a performance car, it's the worst time in your life to be wasting large amounts of money, especially on things like insurance... or the cost of maintenance/crashes/claims etc. Buy stocks instead!
I've personally managed to make profit on all the cars I've owned during my ownership or break even on cost of buying. Insurance, tax, maiintenance and running costs is a separate matter but that's a small price to pay for the enjoyment I got out of all the cars I owned. Stocks and shares carry their own risks. At least with cars, you can't replicate the memories.
Of course we all gotta have fun and enjoy ourselves, but there's gotta be a line. 5k for insurance is a terrible financial decision for any 18 yr old. If that was invested, by 25 he could have turned that into around 20k. So with a little patience and maturity, even if you were to blow the 20k at 25 yrs old on a car, at least you would be earning more by then and that 20k could be a deposit on a serious car like a proper M or Porsche for example.@@CarNitty
@NorvinSmith-iv7zl I've never paid more than 1.7k for insurance for a high performance car which was still cheap in my opinion at the time. I don't recommend anyone spending more than £2000 to insure a car and they should only buy a car they can afford using disposable income. Not money that's needed for savings or outgoings.
@@CarNitty Damn I wish that was the case for me, I'm 26 and my 1.4 Corsa is costing me 1.4k in insurance per year with no points or claims. 118i is around 2.2k and M140i is around £5/6k

1.6 with stage 2... dangerous game homie ;).
was it crashed or did something mechanically go wrong?
It unfortunately caught on fire
Really enjoyed this video, its just unfortunate of what happened. On to bigger and better builds for Abid 👊🏽
Only way is up for Abid as he would say

Abid will no doubt be back on the up soon! Look forward to seeing next stage in his journey!
Without a shadow of a doubt
What rear diffuser/bumper and stuff has this got looks so good
It's a maxton rear diffuser for the M135i that he's fitted to his 118

what modifications did he to make the car fart while shifting gears?

It was the maxton design diffuser
This funny and interesting, 👍🏻👍🏻

These 1.6 give so much problems surprised his got it like that
The 4cyl engines in the F Series BMWs are generally not that bad. They're Mini engines essentially and they're very decent and potent
Man said car nitty 😂😭👍

What Exhaust has he got?
It's covered under the modifications chapter
My 125i 290hp 4.8
Was his mods declared?
I'm not quite sure. That's something I'm sure he's dealing with right now
5 k just to insure the car and declaring mods like these Im surprised he's even insured if he even declared his mods to begin with.
Insurance companies are honestly scammers at times
260 is more thrn enough to slide it trust me i had a 116i 230hp stage 1 that ass was loose
