I liked the JB in this one. But the Fluence still rock. I have a guitar with Fluence Classics and I have guitars with EMGs. But, I think the JB will always be my favorite pup. I’m always swapping them in and out.
A JB with a ts style boost sounds very similar to the fluence, hotter, less bass, more mid.
The big difference I find that in the situations where I would have turned the boost off for the passive pickups, I end up switching to the neck with the fluence, which behaves very differently.
I think in general the JB sounds better played like this. In a band though the fluences have the edge for me. They cut through so well, without drowning everyone else out.
JB for the total win. Great video. Made my decision easy
Those who have actually played a fishman before shitting on it will know how good it is
The added clarity of the Fluence is noticeable on the distorted examples, and I can see how that could be desirable. But I far prefer the JB for clean tones. More warmth and life.
Both cool in their own right. JB definitely has more lower end
That first distorted riff in Voice 1 sounded almost identical to the JB; I was seriously impressed
I'll take the fluence modern all day and twice on Sunday!! Nothing pushes the front end of a amp like the modern! It's mean as f**k sounding through my stealth head. Then again I'm playing downtuned aggressive metal. JB is good for rock but imo sucks for metal. The low end is a mess on the JB. Great video as always 🤘🏻
I prefer the JB SH-4 for the distortion and the Fishman Fluence for the cleans, the least reminds me the sound you hear playing an acoustic guitar so it sounds so clear and without those "scratches" you got on the Seymour Duncan, even if the basses are less present.
For the distortion though there is no comparison, the JB sounds full of frequencies and more precise than the Fishman's which filters some of the low frequencies, the JB has less treble but I think is more versatile if you wanna use a equalizer!
P.S: On my electric guitar I have EMG so I'm not saying this because I'm a fan of Seymour Duncan, but I wanna try it indeed u.u
I say JB kills it without all the extra gimmick. Just sounds right to my ears.
Same here. Just thinking is it what I am so used to, and thus prefer it.
@@kauko8124 100% a matter of preference. Considering how many internet bros that love their active pickups, and I've never found one I like
@@eddominates Yeah, for sure. Also I find the signal line has big influence, I like the JB much more with Kemper, where as with tube amp the EMG81 becomes very competitive sounding in rhytm tones.
JB is amazing! You made me take the better decision and I'm buying a guitar with JB in the bridge! Thanks!
It's a tough one. If playing on my own, I would go for the JB. If playing with a band, I'm leaning towards the Fishman to own the higher frequencies in the mix and leave the lower/bottom end to the bassist.
i have a E-II MK1 that loaded JB SH4, swapped from Fishman Fluence.
Nothing is wrong in my decision.
I gotta go with the JB
I might just be biased since the sound I associate with my favorite riffs (and I can kind hear it here) but I think the jb sounds a little better.
That isn't to say that the Fishman doesn't sound good, it in fact sounds better than most emg pickups in my opinion.
I am thinking of getting rid of my Fishmans and just switching to a JB and maybe a Jazz in the neck.
Why is there an added drone that's out of tune on the Fishman? Sounds almost like feedback
Considerable difference eeh , Seymour's play tough!
I've been fiddling around with a guitars electronics for some years now and now I just started building my own active circuits and it's seriously embarrassing how little advancements there have been and how little experimentation there has been done.
Fishman are finally bringing a bit more action into the game, but really failed with their battery-life... it's not even 1/10th of an EMG.
Funny thing about this comment is "pickups" are only a small part of electric guitar sound. Factors = Strings, fret material, effects, and amps play a much larger roll than anything. Humbuckers vs single coil = low noise vs higher noise. But with that being said, and good combo of amps and effects can make just about any guitar sound the way you want it to sounds. Watch any good guitarist play on a crappy guitar and see how they can make it sound. I have a el-cleapo $120 Ibanez guitar that I can play through my main rig and it sounds fantastic. Pickups are garbage compared to my other high dollar guitars but the amp and effect pedals make the difference. The only place you can hear any difference would be in a 100 percent clean sound. Watch Satriani play through some POS guitar and tell me how the picks are making any difference. LOL > ruclips.net/video/_KZjVZLsU6s/видео.html
@@KoolMada exclude fret material from your list
😈
voice 1 and 2 are so alike it is just stupid to even have that feature
No it's not. They sound different in person. Voice 2 has more chubby bass and a bit less output while voice 1 has a focus on highs and highmids & also more output. It's comparable to having an EMG 81 and 85 in one pickup.
@@Mindartcreativity sounds good. I just got fishman classic replacement will get guitar this saturday to hear it for myself. thanks !
@@burningstar3466 Yeah. The "classic" voice has a lot more bass and less high end.
I'm still thinking of taking them out and switching to passives though.
Was the same guitar used??
Yes, it is!
Man you are for sure heavy handed lol. It sounds like you pull every note sharp because you don't relax and it's espcially noticable when you do a vibrato.
JB wins, Fishmans Modern are totally unusable
that's a bit of a stretch...but yeah, I prefer the JB as well
I think they're better used in a high-gain, heavy situation. They sound... Awful in these examples. I use Seymour Duncans so it may be my bias, but you really can't beat 'em. Warm, gorgeous and versatile.
They sound the same...
