Simply put, a Martial Law is military power replacing civilian government. It could be temporary, or it could be indefinite. It varies by country and its constitution but the main logic for the martial law is to allow military to take over "temporarily" in emergency where civilian government is unable to function (natural disaster, political instability, war, rebellion, etc). Depending on what the constitution says, martial law could give military the power to take over political/legal system, take control of the media, and more.

Ok so I am very politically savvy so i'm kind of ashamed of myself that I don't understand what martial law is!!!!
Could somebody with a little bit of knowledge? Explain this to me, please.I'd be very appreciative😮
Temporary substitution of military authority over civilian rule. The military leader has unlimited authority to make and enforce laws.
Exactly can't say, but to me, a move by one person with or without the support of his Party, to take action against the Majority & Opposition.
We have it in the UK, but without using the Army.
UK people just roll over & whine 🤔
@@pattypowers9467so much for the Military not to be under the Control of the Blue House. Seems selective.
But it hasn't worked.
Distraction from the latest scandal in the Milary though.

He's been described as "trump like" so this isn't a surprise..the real question is, when Trump brings in the military for revenge against his enemies. The scotus said that's fine and he's immune from justice.
TDS. You people said this the first time he was elected.
Did they wear mask ?
Impeach him and take Biden with him
Trump is coming to help!!!!

@@jjayala5512 Democrats never threatened to use national troops against United State Citizens. Trump has multiple times. He has also spoken multiple times about seeking vengence against his rivals.
Don’t be surprised if Trump pulls a stunt like this.
We are armed. It won't be pretty

Nope. Democracy vs Dictatorship
@ how is it dictatorship when the president can’t do anything, and the Supreme Court can’t even maintain its authority due to constant interference?
How is it dictatorship when the executive branch is paralyzed by endless impeachment motions?
