I couldn't agree more! this is how to do a 4k release. A filmic look, light stable film grain, a sound upgrade and the choice of HDR formats. It's a yes from me!
Watch it last night and it is truly a revelation. Sound wise, be ready you can hear every nuance, and when the ship sinks is extremely loud yet everything that goes is discernible. Better have a good subwoofer because it demands it. Great job on this one.
This makes me much more hopeful that The Abyss, True Lies, and Aliens will also be great on 4K! My next wishes would definitely be original Terminator 4K, and a re-done, no DNR 4K of Terminator 2 that is actually GOOD (fingers crossed!)
"No DNR"? Did you even go through the UHD of Titanic properly? Cameron himself has claimed that he removed all film grain from Titanic and then applied artificial sharpening on the picture. The "grain" that you see is fake grain added later and not the real grain. God, how easy you people can be fooled!
There's a what looks to be a 4k abyss going around in the pirated section of the internet that i absolutely couldn't believe. I have the DVD version and pirated version looks way way way better and is absolutely stunning I was under the impression they had already put it out in 4k because of this but I'm finding out they hadn't so... but I got this version about 6 months ago. It looks and sounds amazing

We also appreciate your sticking with mainstream releases, without getting bogged down reviewing so many grade-B horror films, that seem to suck all the air out of the room. "The Fugitive" and "Oppenheimer" look and sound fantastic on our home theater system. And you are so right-on about this being an amazing time for physical media. 2023 was outstanding and 2024 promises to be even better. I absolutely love this movie, but had no interest in double dipping when I already have and enjoy the blu ray. However, your enthusiasm over this 4k transfer has completely changed my mind. I don't recall you ever getting this excited over a 4k transfer. Thank you for your time deep diving into Titanic.
I am pretty happy with how my blu rays look upscaled on my 4k player and have no intention on buying them once again. But I think when you see the overwhelming positive response from everyone on this, clearly a lot of effort has gone into it and it'll be one of the few films worth another purchase.
I'm moving and decided to buy my first 4k tv. I'm loading up on all these 4k movies now, I've spending a ridiculous amount but I gotta say, I'm excited.

I have S22 ultra phone and you can tell easily the difference between 4k and Blu-ray pictures .Kate Winslets hat 👒 Really shines in 4k. For black and white films on 4k.The 4k format is black and white marriage made in 4k digital Heaven. Casablanca is a pure delight 😊 in 4k. With the invention of 4k little did black and white have a new savior in this format. It does more than enhance it.Other than WoW can express the unexpected experience. Just wanted to comment.Their is hope for True Lies and Aliens to the Abyss transfers. Then maybe a T2 UN WAXING 🤔 TRANSFER to fix this crime against movies😊 this 4k allows the Titanic to sail flawlessly. Good Video 😎

I have similar setup.. 65" LG OLED tv and Panasonic UB820. Great combo. I also have Denon x3700H w Emotiva speakers in a 7.2.4 configuration (with two SVS SB1000 Pro subwoofers) in a 18' x 10' x 9' room with some bass traps in key locations. I used to have Bose speakers for 20 years. The difference between a true speaker + dual subwoofer setup and Bose and was night and day. Upgrading your audio may be something to think about
@@bigdreams5554 I know there is much more sophisticated audio out there but I got a good deal on the bose setup and for my space it’s very immersive and clear and the bose subwoofer for its size definitely is powerful and responsive

Watching this in the theatre was an experience I’ll never forget. When the funnel came down and crushed Fabrizio, there was a lot of screaming. I’ve got this version now on 4K too. I’ve got every single version. I’m so happy it became a classic.

Thanks for helping me decide if to buy this. I was worried about this being a letdown of aggressive DNR like T2 (that one was horrible). Glad to see Cameron has done this restoration the proper way and true to its roots. In fact, this was what he should have done with T2 if the 3D source wasn’t used. Let’s hope Aliens, True Lies and The Abyss look similar to this.

High praise since the Blu-ray is excellent. My 4K copy is coming today (regular slip cover version). One thing to be aware of. There are two extensive special features on the original Blu-ray features disc that are not included with this release. They are: Reflections of Titanic at a little over an hour long and Titanic The Final Word With James Cameron at over an hour and half long. They are included with the Collectors Edition at $135.
Man, can't wait. I loved the 3d blu-ray, excited to see this in 4k..had to see if the german version had Dutch subtitles and if i am not mistaken it does. Just ordered it from amazon. It is not coming out as a 4k transfer in my country...it sucks. And after that.. The Abyss, Aliens and True Lies...damn...it is getting expensive people! Oppenheimer en the fugitive are movies i want, but i will wait for now.

I was thinking to buy a 4K copy of this Movie, I own it in bluray and I remember I owned on vhs back in time when was released ( was 2 videocassette) because back in time when was released the movie was so long and was imposible in that time to have it in just one cassette. There's not another film maker out there who spends so much time in upgrading his movies. First for 3D, now for 4K... No wonder the result is always near perfect.
From what I saw in the 2023 theater viewing, it looked good. However, the CGI of Jack and Rose getting flooded in the corridor scene still looks as phony as ever haha 😅

I have S22 ultra phone and you can tell easily the difference between 4k and Blu-ray pictures .Kate Winslets hat 👒 Really shines in 4k. For black and white films on 4k.The 4k format is black and white marriage made in 4k digital Heaven.
Casablanca is a pure delight 😊 in 4k. With the invention of 4k little did black and white have a new savior in this format. It does more than enhance it.Other than WoW can express the unexpected experience. Just wanted to comment.Their is hope for True Lies and Aliens to the Abyss transfers. Then maybe a T2 UN WAXING 🤔 TRANSFER to fix this crime against movies😊 this 4k allows the Titanic to sail flawlessly. Good Video 😎

Absolutely fantastic in depth honest review as always. So happy it's got the restoration it deserves I just really hope T2 gets a rescan and gets the same treatment as Titanic did.
T2 doesn't need a rescan, it needs the non-DNR'd transfer to be used instead of the 3D DNR'd transfer
@@Pocketkid2 and the other versions of T2 (at least the Special Edition) need to be included too

I have similar setup.. 65" LG OLED tv and Panasonic UB820. Great combo. I also have Denon x3700H w Emotiva speakers in a 7.2.4 configuration (with two SVS SB1000 Pro subwoofers) in a 18' x 10' x 9' room with some bass traps in key locations. I used to have Bose speakers for 20 years. The difference between a true speaker + dual subwoofer setup and Bose and was night and day. Upgrading your audio may be something to think about
@@bigdreams5554 I know there is much more sophisticated audio out there but I got a good deal on the bose setup and for my space it’s very immersive and clear and the bose subwoofer for its size definitely is powerful and responsive

Seems like it’s not just a cash grab new bonus material new audio track proper 4k transfer I will be picking this up.
Watching this in the theatre was an experience I’ll never forget. When the funnel came down and crushed Fabrizio, there was a lot of screaming. I’ve got this version now on 4K too. I’ve got every single version. I’m so happy it became a classic.

Thanks for helping me decide if to buy this. I was worried about this being a letdown of aggressive DNR like T2 (that one was horrible). Glad to see Cameron has done this restoration the proper way and true to its roots. In fact, this was what he should have done with T2 if the 3D source wasn’t used. Let’s hope Aliens, True Lies and The Abyss look similar to this.
T2 could use a do-over. Have the longer cut in 4K and use the negative instead of the 3D DI.
I was also worried about this, based on the T2 4K version. I now have renewed hope for The Abyss, which is what I really want in 4K.

High praise since the Blu-ray is excellent. My 4K copy is coming today (regular slip cover version). One thing to be aware of. There are two extensive special features on the original Blu-ray features disc that are not included with this release. They are: Reflections of Titanic at a little over an hour long and Titanic The Final Word With James Cameron at over an hour and half long. They are included with the Collectors Edition at $135.
I hope Warner Bros if they ever release Gone With The Wind on 4K Blu-ray, they put it out like this.

Man, can't wait. I loved the 3d blu-ray, excited to see this in 4k..had to see if the german version had Dutch subtitles and if i am not mistaken it does. Just ordered it from amazon. It is not coming out as a 4k transfer in my country...it sucks.
And after that..
The Abyss, Aliens and True Lies...damn...it is getting expensive people! Oppenheimer en the fugitive are movies i want, but i will wait for now.
I actually thought the 2012 Bluray was pretty close to reference quality, so it's great to hear that the upgrade is good!
Titanic was shot on Panaflex Gold Ii and Platinum camera in Super 35mm and Techniscope so the quality is there.

I was thinking to buy a 4K copy of this Movie, I own it in bluray and I remember I owned on vhs back in time when was released ( was 2 videocassette) because back in time when was released the movie was so long and was imposible in that time to have it in just one cassette. There's not another film maker out there who spends so much time in upgrading his movies. First for 3D, now for 4K... No wonder the result is always near perfect.

Are the flyover shots that show people on the deck that looked phony on the bluray any better looking on 4K?
From what I saw in the 2023 theater viewing, it looked good. However, the CGI of Jack and Rose getting flooded in the corridor scene still looks as phony as ever haha 😅
