I am a fanatic biro collector. Tried all but the spinning method above. None of it worked. Problem is the ink is actually a paste containing a form of alcohol which dries up over time. I guess it depends on the quality of those ingredients from the manufacturer that determines the outcome. One of mine, incredibly still working after 20+ years but DON'T count on it. Best I've found is to seal the ball (tip) with epoxy glue, wax or silicone to stop the paste drying which is the main culprit. This works for me coz I only admire the collection. So if you do have many biro's, seal them to keep the problem away. Don't try to restore with methylated spirits, dried paste won't react. Tried and failed.

You should not draw line by ball point pen with scale. The ball point is rotatable so it is only for writing. When equal pressure writing makes it work. If you out line one side the rotates and it gets space by erase of surface. You can wrote over a mirror that way the point damaged get loosen and better.

我有一个经验，就是长期收藏圆珠笔时要保持远比直立笔尖向下，不容易不出墨。
