Baby packing tip: bring a little nail scissor for him, his nails will be long and they scratch their faces and leave scratch marks. (The nail clipper is soo aggressive for newborns, the scissors are easier & safer in preventing injuries) & little mittens for him
Pillow Tip: Put your pillow in a colored pillow case so it looks different than the white hospital pillows. I’d also recommend bringing a boppy pillow (if you have one) for support holding the baby while you’re there - helpful for you and guests! 💕
They most definitely will take your pillow if it looks anything like theirs, I put mine in a pink pillowcase, but any color would be fine just not white! And I highly recommend that especially if things go differently than planned and you have a cesarean section. The boppy it will save your belly.
So did my son! He peed through all his diapers. I didn't know as a ftm but he was 9.4lbs when he was born and NB diapers are for 10lbs or less so really he needed size 1 diapers. I went through so many onesies at the hospital. I'll definitely be bringing size 1 diapers with me for baby #2 😂

Bare minimum postpartum advice- be prepared to bleed for weeks on weeks (so get lots of pads!!!!) and change your shirt lots cuz of leaky boobs (yay!) So excited to see you in your mom era!!!!🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
It’s such an individual thing. With my first I bled for couple of days, with my second for 6 weeks straight. Same with boob leaking. None with first, some with the second and never used bra pads
Even if you don’t end up having a c section if your hospital offers belly bands (or belly straps, I’m not sure what they’re called 🤣) get one from them. I had a c section and loved mine. But my friend who didn’t asked for one and she said it helped TREMENDOUSLY!
It’s incredibly overwhelming to pack a bag for something you’ve never experienced before or have really no idea what you’re going to need. Having a child the first time is incredibly overwhelming experience on its own let alone needing to be fully prepared for it via packing a bag for the endeavor. Anyone who thinks otherwise clearly hasn’t been there before.
@@AnnV918 I have 3 times! Even my first time as a mom I didn't think it was "overwhelming" gtfoh! Preparing for chemo treatments that's overwhelming! First time having dialysis that's overwhelming! Packing a bag where your snacks are your priority NOT OVERWHELMING! 🤡
@@Alefue84 I have also had three via caesarean sections my first one not being a planned c section and I had no idea what I was planning for. I had clearly packed my bag for natural birth and ended up with quite a very unnatural birth. I did not have anything I needed for that recovery with me because I did not know that it was going to take that route. I didn’t know what to expect. I was the first one in my family to have a child in decades, It was incredibly overwhelming. So it may not have been for you, but do not discount other peoples experiences. As calculus is overwhelming for some people and not overwhelming for others, this is the same way.
I suggest bringing the swaddle. My first the hospital ONLY had the hospital blanket so my daughter kept breaking out. And she didn’t sleep our entire stay. It was a nightmare lmao
Yup. My oldest is 27 and I was 3 months from turning 18 when I had him lol. Maybe I didn't know but all I brought was a night gown, robe and outfit for baby. My second was a planned section 13 years later and I still brought the same things . Hospital provides literally everything! Alex is a Capricorn like my hubby though and they need to plan everything. I get.
@@anniemcdougal2249 and I was born in 1980 and my mother packed a lot more than just that, everyone’s gonna need a different things, not every hospital carries everything that you need. I had my first baby over 20 years ago now, and I packed not nearly enough because I ended up having to have a C-section which required many different things for recovery than I had packed for the natural delivery I expected. Don’t discount others experiences. What worked for you will not be the same for others.
Love how you said the baby bath for the kitchen sink!! True mom vibes right there. Always put my kids and grandkids in the kitchen sink. So much easier and faster. Don’t forget on your last minute list…. Vlog camera!!! 🩵
Last time I gave birth I took a similar suitcase and I packed one side for labor and other side for postpartum. It worked SO WELL. When we were packing to go to postpartum room, we just closed one side and the rest was ready to use.
All I used that I brought was a robe, slippers, postpartum undies, and deodorant. I didn’t even brush my teeth I was just so tired and busy I didn’t think about it.
Yeah she is super prepared which is great. Although I think people forget that hospitals literally provide 99% of everything you need. I threw in a night gown, robe outfit for baby and that was it 🤷🏾♀️
I’d recommend having a bag for the stuff you get from the hospital! Like diapers wipes pads etc, Second time mom here and you did wonderful good job mama! Thank you for sharing!❤
Tips cabbage helps dry up milk if you decide to not breast feed. They will ask you about having him circumcised be prepared. If you plan on getting professional photos, you might want to pack more outfits for him and y’all. :) best of luck momma. Take all the free stuff they give you. Pack a tooth brush too…
Your going to need a lot of washable baby grows for the hospital they go through about 3-4 a day with being sick etc. also I would try one of those adult diapers now because I found them so uncomfortable and ended up using oversized underwear and a couple massive pads together. If you end up having a section for any reason those diapers aren’t comfortable on your stomach for that . Also your also changing them every hour as you bleed like you’ve never bled before lol x
Hi Alex, I was wondering if anyone told you that you need breast pads? You will leak through your bra & onto your clothes if you don’t have them! Also, if you’re not with baby & you hear another baby crying it can make your milk leak!!! So many new experiences!!! Get your seatbelt ready!!!!🍼🍼🍼
You having bidets on all toilets, you will not need your peribottle. Also do not take slides only flip flops bc if you have to have a C-section you will be sooooo swollen. I couldn’t get my slides on my foot.
Has anyone recommended a packable tote/duffel for the extra hospital supplies? Would take up little space in your suitcase and if you don't end up needing it no biggie. I am so excited for y'all
This is a good idea too, we had gotten gifts in the hospital from family and friends as well as stuff from the hospital so we needed a large extra bag when we left!
also, when I was postpartum, I’d put a pad inside the disposable underwear. That way I was safe for leaks but also could just change the pad rather than change the underwear every time!
This is random and I don’t know if it will be helpful to you, but one thing that helped us greatly with our second is “swaddle baths.” You get a thin, muslin swaddle wet with warm bath water and then lay it over the baby bath tub (we had the same one you got). Then, you place baby on top of the wet swaddle and wrap them in it. You just remove the portions of the blanket that you need to as you wash baby. This keeps them feeling warm and secure during bath time. Our son hated bath time until we did this! It was a lifesaver for those newborn baths… basically until he was 3-4 months old!
I went into labour5 weeks early with my first child, the hospital managed to stop labour and I stayed in hospital, totally unprepared for a week I hospital, but a week later 4 weeks early I went into labour again and had my 6lb baby boy with no problems apart from me throwing up all my pregnancy and labour. Coventry UK. But just go with the flow don’t get worried if things don’t go as you expect because it will happen and you will have your baby however he wants to come. Oh and I wish I had bottled water they kept giving warm water to sip (due to sickness).
I packed an electrolyte powder mix and it was super helpful to have while recovering after birth especially if you’re nursing! Best of luck, you’ve got this!!
Why am I getting teary eyed watching this?! I’m so excited for you! I honestly had such a great labor and hospital experience and I was in such a daze, I don’t think soaked it all in. Enjoy every moment. Even packing the adult diapers. lol.
i brought the fridamom postpartum recovery essentials kit and was SO glad i did. I know the hospital provides stuff but everything in the kit is better and i used it all!
When I had my daughter my sister had to go buy preemie outfit because newborn was too big and she was 6lbs 4oz. You might want to consider buying a preemie outfit.
Definitely bring that swaddle! When my baby was born he constantly broke out of the swaddles they wrapped him in and having the blanket loose in his little bassinet stressed me out lol. I ended up having my mom bring our Velcro swaddles to the hospital 😂
so excited for you! i dont think you overpacked - i always prefer to be prepared than wishing i had certain items enjoy these last moments with Yar as a couple before you officially become a family ❤❤❤
I would deff being more baby outfits/onesies ...both of my kids had horrible reflux and went through outfits soooo fast....also better to be safe and have more options just in case you stay longer than expected.
Make sure you have tons of the short sleeve onesies that snap! I had one on my babies under everything!!! It keeps them warm! Also, if & when they poo & it’s all the way up their back, at least you have some extra under his clothes! Make sure you know how to take his car seat apart, because you’ll be washing it when he messes all over himself & the car seat!!!! Don’t forget the nipple pads!!! You will do fine💕
You're gonna do great!! The first baby you always pack SO MUCH stuff because you don't know how anything is going to go (even if you have a "birth plan"). I think your bag is great, the only thing I would really recommend bringing is Tucks medicated pads and Dermoplast in case you do deliver vaginally. Those in combination with the adult diapers and a peri bottle are literally the only 3 things you need.
I recommend at least one pumping bra! That was something I didn’t think about. I got the momcozy nursing/pumping bra and it’s my absolute favorite. Another thing is I didn’t pack anything thinking I could possibly have a C-section which I ended up having to do!
that baby bath support is the best!! used it for both my kids as a new mom i was terrified to wash my baby and that they would slip off my hands and that bath really held the baby well if your kitchen sink is big enough wash the baby in it with that angel support - your back will thank you 😊😊
You definitely want sleep choices in case baby spits up, poops, or pees on you. I cannot believe you’re so close to delivering. Exciting! Halloween is going to adorable. I can totally see you baby wearing while handing out candy.
As a mother of three I can say that you will not be using all those things you are taking. I would also suggest taking some soft fleece socks or slippers, hand and body lotion, deodorant, and Q-tips. I didn't see a brush in your haul unless I missed it. The hospital I work at provides newborn swaddle sacks so I guess for you it's all dependent upon what your hospital provides. I actually liked the mesh hospital underwear and preferred them over adult pull-ups. They are super stretchy and easy to get up and down. The hospital pads are large and are great for catching all the blood and clots you will have after childbirth. The snacks are a great idea for when you wake up with baby for the late night feeds or just between the hospital meals.
Hi!! Girl you are prepared! I’d recommend a trash bag to put dirty clothes in to keep separate. Oh and cozy socks bc the ones that they give you at the hospital are tragic! 😂❤
I would pack A little more for the baby- as they can go through their outfit after the first poop. Also it’s very common that pulling clothes over their head is a little uncomfortable as you will feel that he is tiny and fragile.. especially the head/neck. If you have anything that is cross over for the baby it would be very helpful. AND DO GET THE NIPPLE COMPRESS! MULTIMAM if you have that in the states. My nipples were very sore the first days, and they are sterile, cooling and healing! The cream I find being messy
That is nice but the nurses get paid. The cleaning staff who get paid much less would be more likely to need something. Hospital nurses are paid quite well. No need to supplement their salary.
Alex, I know I’ve seen people tell this to you, but the months for their clothes are not accurate! My 13 month old is wearing 24m! That means she’s gone though 6 wardrobes! Start buying bigger baby clothes❤ they grow sooo fast
Soooo exciting!!! Looks like everyone has great tips for your must haves. Enjoy the hospital stay. It goes by so quickly and don’t hesitate asking for help. Sleep and rest is definitely a must while you’re there. My girls are 16 & 18 and we just moved our freshman to college. I feel like I just had her ❤ Lots of love and hugs for you and Yar!!
ALEX! FOR EVERYONE TELL YOU THAT YOU PACKED TO MUCH, GIRL DON'T LISTEN! YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN IN LABOR! AN EMERGENCY C-SECTION IS VERY MUCH A REAL THING! She needs to buy a lot of nursing pads it is one of the best things ever invented while breastfeeding
It’s such an individual thing. With my first I bled for couple of days, with my second for 6 weeks straight. Same with boob leaking. None with first, some with the second and never used bra pads
I would think being in a night gown vs. Pants or shorts would be easier for hospital exams while in the hospital.
Even if you don’t end up having a c section if your hospital offers belly bands (or belly straps, I’m not sure what they’re called 🤣) get one from them. I had a c section and loved mine. But my friend who didn’t asked for one and she said it helped TREMENDOUSLY!
I saw a postpartum nurse say that the one thing her hospital did not have was mittens for the baby so that they don’t scratch their face ❤
One of the baby videos we’ve been waiting for ❤ overpack because you never know how long you might be in for
Packing a bag is overwhelming?!?! 😂 Ridiculous!!!
The hospital blankets are so hard to get a snug swaddle on as well! I always bring a swaddle and a sleep sack!
After giving birth I only wanted to wear night gowns. No pants/shorts. You are well prepared. Best of luck!!
Also i voted for the polka robe the black as you will learn will get obvious milk stains. Doesnt really matter but just a tip.
I had my baby at 4pm, was out the next day at noon. All I remember bringing was an outfit for the baby. This was 1979.
You can request a 24 hour discharge now but most will stay 2 days
It's the same thing in 2024 people just want to be EXTRA !!! 🤯
I get.
I did the same, I didn’t even have a hospital bag! 😂😂😂
Thank you for sharing your hospital bag! I’m being induced this week❤️🍼🤰
Make sure you have someone to take care of Bruno when at the hospital. I’m sure you do.
Oooo… shower shoes so you don’t slip and fall in the shower! It was definitely helpful to have some after 🤍
How exciting this must be for you and Yar! Yayyyyy can’t wait for baby!
I’ve had 3 babies and I DEF recommend to bring your own sleep sacks or swaddles!!
Same I threw a long rob that zipped and called it a night😂
Yeah she is super prepared which is great. Although I think people forget that hospitals literally provide 99% of everything you need. I threw in a night gown, robe outfit for baby and that was it 🤷🏾♀️
With my 4th baby I’m definitely under packing. The hospital will give you most of everything you need!
I’d recommend having a bag for the stuff you get from the hospital! Like diapers wipes pads etc, Second time mom here and you did wonderful good job mama! Thank you for sharing!❤
Now he’s here!!! Congratulations Alex! ❤
I HIGHLY recommend putting in at least 1 preemie outfit for baby! Especially if you think you will deliver early. I wish I did!
Yay, Alex! How exciting for you and Yar! Baby is almost here. I am not a mom, but I just love watching your videos! ❤
Tips cabbage helps dry up milk if you decide to not breast feed. They will ask you about having him circumcised be prepared. If you plan on getting professional photos, you might want to pack more outfits for him and y’all. :) best of luck momma. Take all the free stuff they give you. Pack a tooth brush too…
I’m rewatching vlogmas from last year and it’s gonna be soooo sweet to see you and your fam with a little baby bug at the holidays 😭😭😭💖💖💖 exciting af
Can’t wait. Everything is so much more magical via a child’s eyes. Innocent wonder.
Get “the shusher” and bring to hospital. Also, very much recommend a blanket. You will freeze with an epidural
Also make sure Yar has snacks 😂
Your going to need a lot of washable baby grows for the hospital they go through about 3-4 a day with being sick etc. also I would try one of those adult diapers now because I found them so uncomfortable and ended up using oversized underwear and a couple massive pads together. If you end up having a section for any reason those diapers aren’t comfortable on your stomach for that . Also your also changing them every hour as you bleed like you’ve never bled before lol x
I can't even ❤❤❤❤ I remember last year praying so hard for the day this video was made 😭😭😭
Chap stick and more baby outfits!! 💙
Not sure if needed in your state. Double check or take to be on the safe side. Your marriage certificate. I saw a lot of comments about taking it
Hi Alex, I was wondering if anyone told you that you need breast pads?
That’s a great idea. The hospital usually has some bags with handles for patients if need be.
also, when I was postpartum, I’d put a pad inside the disposable underwear. That way I was safe for leaks but also could just change the pad rather than change the underwear every time!
I got a ton of the nursing nightgowns too. Make sure you get a belly band from the hospital.
Girl you have a lot of stuff to gift in five months . Half of that stuff he will not use! They make it you buy it 😮
This is random and I don’t know if it will be helpful to you, but one thing that helped us greatly with our second is “swaddle baths.” You get a thin, muslin swaddle wet with warm bath water and then lay it over the baby bath tub (we had the same one you got).
Even packing the adult diapers. lol.
I just love you Alex and I can't wait for baby and I loved this vlog so much❤😊
i brought the fridamom postpartum recovery essentials kit and was SO glad i did. I know the hospital provides stuff but everything in the kit is better and i used it all!
When I had my daughter my sister had to go buy preemie outfit because newborn was too big and she was 6lbs 4oz. You might want to consider buying a preemie outfit.
Totally agree… my twins kept wearing preemie for 2 months
Same here. My first was 5lbs and my second was 4lbs. 6 oz. Toxemia both times.
Definitely bring that swaddle! When my baby was born he constantly broke out of the swaddles they wrapped him in and having the blanket loose in his little bassinet stressed me out lol. I ended up having my mom bring our Velcro swaddles to the hospital 😂
In case they cut you down there one thing I recommend is witch hazel. You put that on the pad and it sues and helps your healing quickly from the cut
so excited for you! i dont think you overpacked - i always prefer to be prepared than wishing i had certain items
enjoy these last moments with Yar as a couple before you officially become a family ❤❤❤
I would deff being more baby outfits/onesies ...both of my kids had horrible reflux and went through outfits soooo fast....also better to be safe and have more options just in case you stay longer than expected.
Shower shoes and a bath towel! The hospital towels they gave me when I had my son barely went around my body lol
Did you get the outfit for the baby when the hospital takes his first picture?
Make sure you have tons of the short sleeve onesies that snap! I had one on my babies under everything!!! It keeps them warm! Also, if & when they poo & it’s all the way up their back, at least you have some extra under his clothes! Make sure you know how to take his car seat apart, because you’ll be washing it when he messes all over himself & the car seat!!!! Don’t forget the nipple pads!!! You will do fine💕
One thing I also packed was a pair of slippers. You can walk the floors and they can be dirty, so slippers were nice to slip on instead of socks.
All of the Walmart finds were excellent, specifically the turkey onesie🦃🥰🦃. Can’t wait to see him wearing that. I’m soooooo happy for y’all 🎉
You're gonna do great!!
I have a 1 year old (miracle baby) and I am still watching this as if I'm going to have another any time soon 😂😂
Love you, Alex!
that baby bath support is the best!! used it for both my kids
as a new mom i was terrified to wash my baby and that they would slip off my hands and that bath really held the baby well
if your kitchen sink is big enough wash the baby in it with that angel support - your back will thank you 😊😊
You definitely want sleep choices in case baby spits up, poops, or pees on you.
I always put a short sleeve onesie under his outfit, in case the fabric wasn’t soft and also to keep their tummy covered in a shirt and bottoms.
The reusable containers for the toiletries is a game changer!!!
I loved your pink sweater when the video starts! So pretty on you. Also loved the black skirt on you! Have a wonderful day, Alex! Love you!
Don't forget gifts for the Nurses, they were so appreciative I got them gift packs from bed, bath and beyond just a suggestion
I agreed my 19 month old wears 2T/3T depending on the brand.
I feel like I just had her ❤
Lots of love and hugs for you and Yar!!
ALEX!
FOR EVERYONE TELL YOU THAT YOU PACKED TO MUCH, GIRL DON'T LISTEN! YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN IN LABOR! AN EMERGENCY C-SECTION IS VERY MUCH A REAL THING! I AM NOT TRYING TO SCARE YOU BUT HAVING IT ALL HELPS PUT YOU AT EASE. WITH MY LAST BABY, LAST AUGUST I WAS IN THE HOSPITAL FOR 8 DAYS! GOOD LUCK HONEY AND CANNOT WAIT TO MEET BABY BOY!!!
You do you! I don’t even remember packing anything! 😂
