And there’s plenty of models now who look beautiful. Plus there’s more diversity. Models look more realistic NOW. Than the very ‘white’ standard it used to be
@@imanialexander7042 You haven't been paying attention. Look at enough early '90s fashion shows on RUclips and you'll see that many shows used non-white models. Yes, the ones who got most of the mainstream media's attention were predominantly white, but there were successful, in-demand models of different ethnicities. For a while, fashion designers liked models who were mixed. By the late '90s, designers favored Brazilian models, then moved on to Eastern Europeans by the early 2000s. They are fickle, but they call the shots in the industry. Naomi Campbell has Jamaican and Chinese ancestry. Christy Turlington has Caucasian and El Salvadoran ancestry. Helena Christensen is Peruvian and Danish. Yasmeen Ghauri is Pakistani and German. Yasmin Le Bon is Iranian and English. Besides Naomi, there were top black models like Beverly Peele, Karen Alexander, Roshumba Williams, and Alek Wek. Other successful '90s models with varying shades of color were Veronica Webb, Tyra Banks, Anna Getaneh, Sonia Cole, Marpessa Hennink, Nadège du Bospertus, Kara Young, Kimora Lee Simmons, Patricia Velásquez (Venezuelan and Wayuu), Anna Bayle (Filipino), Gurmit Kaur (Indian) and Gail Elliott (Indian/English/Portuguese/Scottish/italian). For the longest time, models were used to sell fantasy. They had to be special. Diversity has opened up more today, which is good, but now everyone gets a participation trophy. Instead of hiring people who have exceptional beauty of ANY race, the bar has been set low so that they hire women who are barely above average. Many of today's models are interchangeable-they don't stand out. Karlie Kloss, Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid (both full of plastic surgery) would never have been hired in the '90s because they have unexceptional faces. Models shouldn't all have to be girl-next-door realistic. More relatable to the common person, yeah, but completely not aspirational, just ordinary. You can see people like that on the street, so who needs ordinary in fashion, which has always dealt with illusion and glamour?
Thank you SOOO much for posting all of these shows from the nineties and 2000s! There is definitely an audience starving to see these shows. I hope that this Versace show is a sign that other Versace shows from the early 90s are to come, especially the Atelier couture shows from spring/summer and fall/winter 1992. Again, highly appreciated!!!
Yasmeen is on instagram since last month and believe me she will get her flowers! Wait and see her return! She will take no prisoners. I expect a book!
I know that they wanted this show to be about the Big 3, but in my opinion Yasmeen Ghauri stole the show. Hands. Down. She owned every single look and gave it an effortless sexiness.
One of the most beautiful fashion collections ever. All the supermodels at their peaks, crazy but intelligent mix of colours, faboulous prints, textures shapes and fabrics. It's like that collection gave a message of absolute happiness for the world. It's so inspirating to wtch...
Yasmeen Ghauri has the best female body of all time, Linda Evangelista's face is so iconic, Claudia Schiffer had one of the worst catwalk among 90s supermodels
@@milanpop16 Karen is also very beautiful. I think they both are the most beautiful. But when I look to the editorials I think Claudia face is better for fashion. Karen is really gorgeous but she always look the same. Cláudia face is more versatile. But that’s my opinion.

Yasmin great but Naomi at 8:05? that turn is something else. Sonia Cole at 0:48 blue dress, is also great. Born for runway. Linda looks half asleep. Not sure what was going on there. She was the worst. It looked like she didn't want to be there.
Yasmeen is so beautiful her walk was out of this world
Makes me nostalgic for an age when models actually looked like members of our species.
Yes, when supermodels were beautiful grown women and didn't look like malnourished teenagers.
@@SunsetRogue I am sorry but they look incredibly skinny to me. At least today they let plus size women participate too.
@@SunsetRogue heroin chic was a thing in the 90s you’re misinformed

Yasmeen shined out the most in this show, she is on a next level even though she wasn’t in the original six which was an utter shame
Yes, particularly @11:54 in the magenta dress serving femme-fatale realness.
