Story time: I worked as an Office Manager in a Real Estate Company in Dubai. I could have found a better solution or could have compromised for a month, but i haven't learned such a thing from my parents or from friends. People don't talk about these things as these are not important in most households. You should also go to a therapist, I'm not sure, but your pattern tells maybe you have ADHD. Story time: I worked as an Office Manager in a Real Estate Company in Dubai. It was a startup and my boss asked me that when clients will visit, i want you to make coffee for them since we dont have an office boy. I told him immediately that i am sorry, i can’t make coffee for anyone since its not in my job description. He was surprised that a brown girl is telling him that she doesn’t want to do what she’s told to do.
A couple of times he said some sarcastic things to me like you know in USA, in startups people make coffee for themselves and clean after themselves and its not considered as something beneath them. I said yes exactly, I don’t mind making coffee for myself and cleaning after myself. The keyword is for MYSELF. The girl at the reception ended up doing all those things which the office boy was suppose to do. Like make coffee, wash cups, keep the pantry clean and take the trash out.
This is for the girl who was asked to take the trash out. Just say NO with a resting bitch face. That’s what I did. Sometimes you have to act like you have nothing to loose even if they fire you. The more you act scared and say yes to everything, the more they will exploit you.
I am all for teamwork and everything, I worked like crazy but I draw the line when someone asks me to do something that’s totally unrelated to my job. Best thing is to ask for a Job Description when you’re hired so you know what you are expected to do. You should have to understand that you can't get everything in life with it fullest. Sometimes you have to compromise on some of the things. I have done the same things back in time, and now, if i look back, i can see that i could have found a better solution for the situation. You can't always complain about things and put everything on others. Politics and toxicity are part of the job market. I had left one job due to the toxic behavior of people and then the other one due to the very long timing then the third, as they want me to take someone else's place for a little while as she was going for Umra. I could have found a better solution or could have compromised for a month, but i haven't learned such a thing from my parents or from friends. People don't talk about these things as these are not important in most households. You should also go to a therapist, I'm not sure, but your pattern tells maybe you have ADHD. One more thing, you should see your inconsistent behavior as a red flag as well. Later in your marriage it will play very bad and negative role as solution to every problem is not to detach yourself from that , it would not solve the problem.
