2k textures isnt that overbearing on a computer its mainly pollygons and each model in minecraft is mainly 4 a simple character for a basic game is roughly 20k pollygons and with ray tracing you only render what is visible to the character not the full map

While I'm here, just a quick reminder that Continuum 2.1 is currently Alpha. It's not yet feature complete, or completely optimized. It will continue to improve as development progresses. We will hopefully be transitioning to Beta sometime soon.
If anyone wants to support the development and get Early Access to the shader during development, we have a support package available on our store. If not, 2.1 will be available for free when finished. We also have our previously released shaders, 1.3 and 2.0, available for free download on the site, as well as a free 128x128 version of Stratum, and the paid higher resolution options as well.

It's very impressive texture work, but I don't think the cubes of minecraft lend themselves to realistic textures. A stylistic design is a much better fit for all the cubes

Two things would make these texture absolutely perfect. Connected textures and 3D grass blocks (having little blades of crass sticking up out of the top of the grass block). Both of these things have been done with other resource packs. If they could be implemented with this, it would be hands down the best graphics in Minecraft.

Looks great but i have a hard time justifying a $30 mod pack when there are others that look great for free.
Though there are teirs in the store its be cool to have a demo version of some kind just to see how it runs before buying.
$30 is to get Early Access to our latest shader, Continuum 2.1 (the shader in this video), and to support the development. It will be free at launch. Older versions like 1.3 and 2.0 are available for free from the site as well.
As for Stratum, our resourcepack, we offer a free 128x128 version, and higher res tiers packages from 256x to 2048x.
Is there any chance of a "demo" of the higher tier resource packs being released as a means of potential customers seeing the performance impact on their own pcs?
@@robertreyes6959 Probably not, mostly due to the fact you'd need the full pack to see how it would truly run.
That said, we have System Requirements on the site that we update somewhat regularly with updates, and there are a few videos out there comparing the versions and their performance on different PC's.
Right now 512x is probably the best bet for most mid range PC's, 1K is now the cap for most high end ones due to VRAM limitations and Minecraft generally handling textures horribly. 2K has to be ran on fairly crazy GPU's now or you need to remove some of the textures from the pack to get it to load. A team of modders is working on a mod that will replace the rendering code in MC and allow most systems to run 1K/2K in their entirety, but that's not out yet. Until it is we are stuck with Minecraft being it's dumb self and wasting memory left and right.

Its nice to know that ray tracing may be introduced onto the series x and the ps5. Finally, a nice pair of rivals, that can match up. See guys, playstation or xbox, mobile or switch, pc or rl, we are all the same. Look out for your fellow gamers guys, dont let the toxic influence ruin your view on opposing console players, because despite being a rival to what ever console you use, they are exactly the same as you. A rival, but a true gamer that respects others.
Despite some of the negative comments I like this. Never had any interest in playing Minecraft, and still don't, but it's amazing at how you can change the look of the game with mods.
