      It’s Loblaw .. no “S” they dropped the S 2 decades ago so they could restructure the union contract, paying the employees 5$ less/hr. and other cutbacks. Under law a name change in a company allows them to do this. I know, I was one of the employees.

      $17 at my grocery store. The $3 coupon they gave me explained everything. I've bought coffee under $8 the last time I was there. Plenty of competition to choose from.

    So, many companies post massive profits yet keep raising prices, citing "rising cost" when, in reality, it's simple price gouging. Companies should be forced to disclose their financial data to be allowed to raise prices legally.

      Yes! Only this who don't know what real coffee tastes like would even consider it. And I has so many chemicals in it that I start hallucinating. And I am a heavy coffee drinker and never have this problem with other brands. And Canada always has ingredients that are banned in other countries l, and they tout their products as healthy.

      Also, freshness; big brands may store huge amounts of beans for much longer than a small, "gourmet" company.

      Almost everything that's at the store nowadays taste different. they have changed it up on the flavor and on the size. they are making everything smaller now and it doesn't taste the same, it has gone down hill. we quit buying a whole bunch of products.     I don't buy that brand anymore, its extremely expensive now. Sobeys sell the decaf 600ml for $25. It was $9 two years ago. You can get the Mcdonald's brand for $12 on sale, better coffee anyways.

    President Choice coffee went from 16.99$ to 21.99$ in about 5 weeks. Probably Folgers wouldn’t raise their prices to match and Loblaw kicked em out so they could corner the market. Doesn’t matter that Folgers is terrible coffee, ppl would buy it if it’s cheaper.

      Don't forget the other companies involved with price fixing the bread, they didn't do it alone, in fact they are the only company to have settled while the rest are still fighting.
      Canada Bread, Metro, Sobeys, Wal-Mart Canada, and Giant Tiger were all involved.

    As someone who worked for a farm that supplies Lolaws, I just want to say they treat their vendors well. It's the only reason I will keep supporting them. They take a much smaller cut than Metro.

      Nah, it is a combo of the 2024 Brazilian coffee blight causing 80+% yield losses, and then American tariffs on top
      Folgers is processed in America thus it gets tarriffed

      (the gourmet supreme is what I've purchased and it taste better than Maxwell house/and I, of course make it with filtered water thanks to my pure/brita etc yada filter)

    All coffee prices went up like Crazy the past several years. At super C my tim hortons cans went from like 15.99 to 26.99 in 5 years. (Regular price) I only buy on sale and stock up.

      I can confirm that as well. Used to buy Tim Hortons but stopped because of this. They also reduced the quantity they were selling per Tin.
      I actually switched to Folgers after that becuase it was the only brand selling under $10. But not long after that, the prices went up to $12. And now here we are.

      @dangal9366 Yea. They reduced the quantity by around 100 grams or so while continuing to charge the same price and later increasing that price. It was before 2020.
      They know customers respond more harshly to price changes so they reduce quantity instead because it's less noticeable and will elicit a softer reaction.
      These Grocery Chains have done this with bread, meat, Cheese, condiments, cookies, and frozen food, Juice etc. Pretty much everything.
      Nobody noticed until cost of living got to the point it was squeezing people's savings but these grocery chains have been doing this for like 20 years.
      Look up the term, "Shrinkflation"

    I “had” been drinking Folgers coffee. When it ran out, I bought a Canadian brand called Muskoka Loon Breakfast blend which tastes much better. 😋 Another Canadian brand called Kicking Horse actually replied to me with a detailed email with lots of advice. I will try them next.! 👏🏻👩🏻‍🦰🇨🇦
