Nice review. Having used to own one of these in the past, I can confirm that a remap takes these to about 270bhp on a true dyno. For sound, an N54 or N55 135i backbox with resonator delete is all thats needed. Overall one of the best performing and most reliable non-M / non-Turbo engines BMW made. Definitely gives E46 or even E36 M3 vibes.
Good review, noticed you like it more and more as the review goes on! My missus has a cab version with a few extras like the heated seats, sat nav etc and she loves it. She went from a newer 1.5 vw engine to the 3.0 straight six older car, and never looked back!
Great review mate! Really informative. I'm picking up the 125i next week, a 135i would be nice but they're 2-3x the price (plus the headache of extra maintenance on the turbos). Cheers!
Great review got mine remapped 270 bhp . But they do have a double vanos like the 130 I ,and they have valvetronic which if u are mister light foot I could get 42 on a run on non E10 fuel
Nice review as always, I was tempted to get one of these but ended up getting my e90 330d which I'm glad I did for economy and practicality. Can't help thinking how much fun a 1 series would've been though. What's your opinion on the handling differences between an E82 and E9x?
First of all Thanks for the comment 👍 My opinion on these 2 chassis is very similar if your talking e82 vs e92 ( the coupes ) are similar But the e82 feels that little bit more quicker direction changing and adaptive mid corner but I'd say it's very minimal IMO. As for suspension dampening and spring rate the 2 m sport variants were the same isn't anything to report on that side of things. 👌🙂
@@REALTORQCHANNEL fair enough, don't regret getting my e90 too much then. I'm sure a set of sportier suspension would help as im on SE suspension. But for now i'll just tighten up the seat bolsters and it feels sharper
Suspension set ups , if your thinking of doing m sport suspension it will lower your vehicle too by approximately 10-15mm which as you may know will lower your centre of gravity which in turn will give the car no choice than to be better in the corners and with weight transfer 😎👌

Great video, really tempted by one of these to replace my gutless GT86
It’s a lovely car but it’s probably not any noticeable amount quicker than an 86, much cooler though
@@callumjemison3299 my 86 is an auto so always feels like it’s in the wrong gear haha
@@Modge17 Didnt even know they made auto ones hahaha
I have a E90 with the N52 and i thought it sounded similar to an E46 M3. Definitely feel like i made the right choice when getting this car.
Couldn't agree more! Enjoy you N52 ✌️😎
Great review 👌

Did you power coat the rims? I have the same ones on my 128 but they are just metallic
Here in Italy there are 2 and they ask 20k 😢 in Germany and other europeans countrys go for 12k to 18k, to be fair they don't sell fast tho
It’s an N53?
Yes N53b30 and for some reason everyone thinks its N52
@@oraclearl_fx that’s because it is an N52. The N53 wasn’t fitted to the E82 model.
@@johnpathway8581 apparently not...jolly well spotted there mate
