Beautiful and heartbreaking. Brings tears to my eyes every time, especially knowing the backstory. Adam Rupp said he couldn't stop crying while he was trying to record the percussion.
“We’re all deserving of, a little grace and love”. Glad you are allowing more time for other things in your life. There are a lot of your HF reactions we can go back to. Thanks for everything.

Bastien wrote this about his own experience; his family doesn't approve of his husband and refuses to let them come to their home together. It's a beautiful song, but the subject matter is heartbreaking. Knowing the story behind it, Adam Rupp had a hard time holding the tears back, which you can see in this video.
I'm just going to bring tissues when I watch their music videos from now on. Bastien broke my heart with this one he wrote and he blends so well with them. I really enjoy all their sound no matter what they sing.
I met and talked with for a long time Adams Dad and Uncle at his first full HF show in Lima, they were very excited to be there. After HF performed Adams Dad gather the group of gals I was with and took us back behind the pavilion to have for a quick chat with Adam who thanked us for taking care of his family during the show..I had the change to talk Adams Dad and Uncle again at his Ryman debut last month and meet even more family members. I hope to see them again at Adam’s hometown debut on December 12th. Everyone I met and talked to were very proud of him.
Think of Austin’s departure like a friendly divorce. Imagine your ex being brought up every single time you see people - even 6 months later. And then saying I just don’t like him as much - Jeremy. 💜💜💜
I agree, we all miss Austin but like you said he chose to move on, we need to do the same. Besides we didn't lose Austin, he is just doing his own thing now, we can definitely still support him, but we need to show love to Bastien, can you imagine how hard all of this is on him, stepping into this was hard enough but people won't let it go. Ok.... Beautiful song they guys killed it again Bastien and Rob sounded amazing
Bastien wrote this. Such a beautiful song -it could be any family that struggles with differences…drugs, religion, lifestyles. Life is too short and we need more grace and love as Bastien says. Good one J & J!
Bastien s family basically disowned him when he came out as gay … the line “being who I’m meant to be made me a stranger in the home that made me-me” is heartbreaking 😢
@SweetCarolineCDN / @antrazitaj5209 : I'm (Jillian) an LGBTQ+ daughter, and have personally experienced this situation with my Mom and grandparents as a young child. Thankfully, they came around, but it definitely leaves lasting marks. I hope Adam's family also comes to their senses, and if not, they don't deserve him and we'll adopt him, ok Fries?!?! ❤️🥷🏻
The message in this song is so important. Nobody agrees on everything all the time. Disagreement shouldn’t result in withholding grace and love from those closest to you.
Happy Home Fryday you 2. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving. Tissues a must for this GEM written by Bastien. Others will tell you the story behind the song, I just know it's beautiful. Much Love xoxooco
I am enjoying Bastein very much. To me, his voice blends so beautifully with Rob’s. If you want soulful deliveries we still have Rob, although with “Something to Talk About” Bastein proved that he’s is soulful, too. I’m hoping for more jazzy, funky, R&B style. We know they’re so good at it. I would like to suggest a Christmas song . I believe that you are both from military families. “I’ll Be Home for Christmas “- Rob lead, the arrangement is beautiful, and the video is a tear jerker. If you want to hear Rob cut loose, there is HF at the Hosanna concert in 2013 singing “Joy the World”. It’s a jazzy arrangement, with a beatbox breakdown and Rob doing some scatting. It’s fantastic. As for Austin comments, I saw HF in June and I was quite impressed by how well Bastein did with them, considering he was thrown into his position much earlier than it was supposed to happen. A concert goer was complaining that she wouldn’t see them live again because of no Austin. I stated that Austin did the guys a great disservice by leaving about 6 months early, so Bastein was in a trial by fire situation. I like the way he’s fitting in.
Austin could blend with the guys but I definitely, hearing this song and the next one you have not yet reacted to, his blend or at least timber allows him to get really tight with Adam and Rob especially. The next one is a Tim original and Rob takes the song and you will really hear how well new Adam fits into what I call, a cappella goodness! Thanks guys, enjoying the music and later that smoked turkey I previously went on and on about! Your friend! Happy thanksgiving! Low bass Kenneth! Ps my entire house smells like smoked turkey!
@kennethbryson7751 LBK!!! As always, thank you for the smiles. How was that smoked turkey?!?! That smell is going to linger a while, but YUMMMM, so worth it we hope!!!
Even Jerome Bell-Bastien, put a post in the fangroup. He said Adam isn't much on the socials because of the many "I miss Austin" reactions. It hurts him. And yes, I miss Austin too but I'm moving on. All the "I miss hims" are not going to bring him back. And, by the way, he did mention HF in a different interview at the CMA's😉 The song Bastien wrote in 2015 after he came out as gay and his family didn't accept it, his parents eventually did, but his sister still doesn't, he can't bring Jerome to familygatherings. For this version he and Tim rewrote some of the lyrics so it will speak to more people. Christmas is about happy familygatherings, but there are a lot of people who can't relate because the are estranged from their family for a lot of different reasons, be it sexual orientation or politics or something else. They have an explanation on their fbpage about this

All is good now. Baastien wrote this years ago when one of his family members refused to be anywhere he was. That meant no holidays at home. There are many people who because of their sexual orientation have been estranged by their family for years. I could not imagine doing that to my son. His hubby Jerome posted on one of the HF groups just letting loose with how hard it's been on Bastien to see. Part of it is the missing Austin folks, but there's also a lot of subtle and not-so-subtle homophobia, sometimes disguised as "the new guy isn't as good/as country as Austin / looks funny / sounds too poppy / doesn't fit in" etc. comments.
