We are tremendously honored to present the Silk Music debut of The Midnight, consisting of Danish-born (LA-based) producer Tim McEwan and NYC-based singer-songwriter Tyler Lyle. Electing to forge their own path in the ever-evolving landscape of modern music, the bicoastal duo have self-released the majority of their catalogue, up until now. Their music pays homage to the dreamy and uplifting, yet subversively melancholic 80s film and television scores of their youth.
The Midnight's triumphant single, "WeMoveForward," epitomizes the wistful spirit and irrepressible musicality of their oeuvre. The song establishes an exhilarating groove at its onset, soon followed by a gorgeous piano theme, one of the track's most heartfelt and enduring instrumental motifs. Tyler's opening verse captures the intoxicating presence of a sun-kissed beauty, culminating in the titular refrain, which is backed by anthemic chords and exceedingly lush pads. The euphoric groove immediately to follow and extended coda beckon us to celebrate and, ultimately, empathize with the songwriter's lovestruck condition.
Talamanca, the extraordinary composer behind last year's beloved "A Day At The Beach" EP, has emerged as an undeniable force in trance & progressive, thanks to consistent global radio support. Drawing heavy inspiration from the Balearic sound of Chicane and fellow forefathers of the genre, Talamanca seemed to be the perfect fit to rework The Midnight's melodic, romantic, and summer-flavored opus. In the early going, a thrilling, uptempo groove is coupled with mesmerizing arp lines. The crescendo of sound and emotion paves the way for a breathtaking climax, in which Talamanca's lush, layered chords reinforce The Midnight's unforgettable chorus.

I've loved The Midnight for a long time now, and this still remains my all time No.1 Trance tune. Which isn't even what The Midnight is famous for! But it's just sooooo good!!!!! We Move Forward is the perfect blend of Dance, Trance, and Synthwave. It's absolutely EPIC!!!!!!! :D

This song has now been in my life long enough that it evokes a deeply painful longing for the days when I first heard it and couldn't stop playing it, which adds a certain enjoyable little bittersweetness to its own nostalgia.

Progressive house? This is nothing like real deal progressive house. I'm a DJ. You want REAL progressive house? I'll post links below if you answer back. This above has trance influence, 80s synth pop, and it's blended well. No progressive house here. Real progressive house has major elements of dark sounds and effects, dope bass lines, heavy tribal elements, psychedelia effects and much more. Today's prog house is mainstream soulless trash. The mainstream scene changes all the meanings of the original genres used at raves in the 90s. We taking the meanings back to their originality. People need to quit with today's stuff calling it prog house. It's not prog, it's pop music. Period

I went to see the midnight on Tuesday and I'm so happy I did. They made me really happy. Ever since I was introduced to retrowave I found the midnight and I enjoyed their music so much. When I went to see them Tuesday it made my life. I nearly cried a few times at the concert I was so happy lol. I would 100% Recommend seeing The Midnight at a concert, they're such a talented retrowave band

I spent last year in Australia. Tunes like this take me back to the warm, summer nights in Sydney, dancing and drinking on rooftop bars overlooking the city. Cruising the beachfront at sunset on the Gold Coast, I didn't have a care in the world, I miss it.

Why does this sound better than the album version?
It’s mastered differently, this is the original EP than when they re-released it they ran it through the 80’s tape filter
@ethanrom22 This is the type of answer I was looking for. Now that you said they filtered it, I can hear a lot of high frequencies that make the original sound very noisy and crisp. I do prefer the official release now because it's easier on the ears. The kicks are also stronger as well.

I remember when The Midnight first started, they kinda took over the synthwave scene lol I’m sure it helped that they actually had a record label behind them and a really good music producer. Nocturnal is such a amazing album, synthwave at its peak
