Love mine, have a breeding pair in a 20 gallon right now, and a small group in my 150 with angels. They're pretty sweet fish! The females get SO dark when they're breeding 😍
I just bought one about a week ago. I'm in the process of setting up my 'peaceful American Cichlid tank,' and he's being kept with a Rainbow Cichlid and a Gourami, at this point. I plan on getting a few Bolivian Rams, or German Blue Rams, to add to the tank, in the near future.
I have nothing against the Electric Blue Acara, but I prefer original Blue Acara. It's weird hearing people talk a color morph as if it were a only form worthy of consideration.
Dang I'm finding mine hard to sex though! I have a pair that hang around together a lot, very tough to tell if it's two females or not though, they're only about half way grown... Love them though! Very peaceful so far, amazing colours.
How many do you think would be a good number to have in a species only 125g with 13 peppered corydoras, one bristlenose pleco and one clown pleco? I have two fx4s on that tank and I do 30-50% water changes almost every week. I already have four in there that are 2-3 inches and six more 1 inchers in QT to be added this weekend for a total of 10. How many more do you think I could add? Thoughts??
@@MultiTankAddiction Yeah your probably right. I was debating on adding three more. I'm hoping to have alot of females but dont really want babies. My thought is that if I end up with just a few males i can rehome them to a friend and do an all female tank. Or possibly the other way around. Thoughts on whether all female or all male would be best?
Thats not a rainbow its a red tailed black shark, and even full grown the acara really could never catch it.. That shark is in the same tank with a bala , a jack dempsey, and an oscar, with out any issues. You just need to know your fish.

I bought mine today!! I'm super happy after 3 months or research my baby Ruthie is home 😁😁😁
Very informative video, you may have just sold me on it! I have been researching them a while and this video gave me all the last info I needed!
Love them, thanks Chris
Thanks for the info, those are pretty cool.
Happycaras are awesome, super chill and friendly fishies.
I have a couple of nannacara anomala. So far they have been great. 👍

Music is so distracting from that grateful
I can see how that could be distracting.. Thank you I will probably not be using it for background music in the future when I do voice overs.. :P

I agree i prefer the True Blue Acara over the electric blue.
I want to keep one with a group of Hyphessobrycon Wadai but I'm scared the acara will eat them.
Oh and when you get them home and under your lights..OMG..P.S his buddy is a platy..lol
I have a 40 Gallon breeder tank and wanted to stock it with 1 Electric Blue Acara, 2 Bolivian Rams, and 5-6 Tiger Barbs. Do you think this would work?

It would probably stop there, they are cichlids and more than likely will pair up and breed so they wil create territories in the tank..

You said they could be kept with any fish of similar size. Will even a common goldfish go? Or will it get nipped at?
Goldfish are not a tropical fish they would have a shorter life in a tropical tank. So I would recommend that.
@@MultiTankAddiction I mean in terms of character. My tank is in a warm room. So do you think they match in character?
Nice video tank size required?
20 gallon if they are alone,
@@MultiTankAddiction 20 gallon for an adult electric blue acara?
Not. Great fit with rainbow fish, when they get bigger, they may strike at your rainbows

@@MultiTankAddiction I know that's a shark, what I'm saying is that they won't do well with rainbows when they get bigger.. gezz
Please turn off the music
Sorry you dont like it..
Maybe play some Cardi B songs
