Look at the sky at the start of this video!! I have always been drawn to this grave, as it had so much wear on it - but it’s also so sad.

You are doing wonderful work, Robert. You and Dan and Cecil, and Joy. And I agree with you on keeping the head stones preserved. Some people do like the patina, but I want to be able to see who is in the grave and to see the beautiful monument that their loved ones put there to commemorate a dearly loved person they lost. And when they bought and had the stone placed I believe they thought it would be seen for many years to come. You are not only honoring the people buried there, but their loved ones too. Thank you for all the love you put into your preservation.

Another great story Robert. Keep them coming 👍
This story reminds me of my great aunt who died in the same circumstances in 1919 (bearing her 14th child). They were also buried together in a very rural, but not forgotten cemetery on the great plains.

Well this is cool with Dan narrating from your phone call. Also that Dan reset the headstone. Very sad to imagine her and her baby, awww, most sweet and most sad. Always tragedy to die young. Very old style design, seems well before the 1860s. Cool Jefferson Davis, connection. Growth delaminates the stone, slowly chipping it away. Sister's stone wonderful design. You see with your eyes and with your heart. Nice weather this day too. What made you think to do this on this day? Enjoyed!! Even with 😢. 👍👍❣️❣️

That D2 works miracles!🙂 Such an amazing difference after using it. I'm so glad such a solution exists.
I'm guessing Mary and baby died in childbirth. The family was kind to bury them together.
I try to imagine life back then, particularly where they're buried because that's probably the community where they lived. I picture a small central town, where you'd find the grocer, church, bank, saloon, doctor.
Acreage as far as you can see. Farms, cows grazing, crops, horse & buggies(??).
    And of course, cemeteries.
Loving your heart for preservation. Your town is rich with history that goes back a long way. They're blessed to have you.😊

Very nice of you to do that, Robert! My grandma died in 1947 (16 years before I was born) during childbirth, her 15th child. But my grandparents were very poor, her headstone says "Mother" instead of "Mother and baby". There is a rumor that she had a stillborn baby after she h as d my dad, and that my grandpa had to bury the baby in their dirt floor of their basement, because they couldn't afford a cemetery plot.

Thank you for taking care of her headstone. Her husband Martin J. Crawford moved to Columbus GA after she died. There is a historical marker where his home was on 13th Street between 2nd & 3rd Avenue. He was a US Representative and then served in the Confederacy. They are both on the Find A Grave website. Hers has the inscription that is on her grave.

You should be very proud of what you are doing. My paternal Grandfather, who owned the farm next to the cemetery in a small country town, maintained the grounds for many years. He is now buried there. It has been many years since I visited, but often wonder who took up the reins after he past. I loved going there, when I was a child, seeing the magnificent tomb stones, and reading the names of my ancestors.

The next year, it was a beacon of white in the cemetery!!! AND, the middle name was listed incorrectly as the growth was so bad. Thank you Robert for restoring this history.
