Went to a lot of noraebang (karaoke) places when I lived in South Korea. Most songs in the roster have little harmonization backgrounds to help you along. You get used to it. Doesn't bother me anymore.

To those who want to complain about the backing vocals:
They are there for a reason!! When you go into music, let's say a school/church choir, it is important to know how to harmonize! Harmonizing is crucial to learn whilst preforming in groups. You have the different levels (bass, tenor, alto, soprano) that have to work together to make the piece sound good. Now you may be asking, 'Why do I need to know how to harmonize if I'm singing by myself? What if I'm just singing for fun? I don't wish to join any sort of choir or organization, so why is harmonization crucial to me?' Harmonizing with others is skill, but learning your personal limits on your voice is even better! Soloists still have to practice harmony because (like in this song) when the original artist has a masculine voice, you can pitch it up for a more feminine version that might be easier to sing for those with a naturally higher voice. If you can't find the right pitch, you can go flat among a lot of other things that make the vocalizing less then admirable. Not only that, but backing vocals can help you stay on tempo so you're not going too fast or falling behind. Hope this cleared up any confusion and can give you an idea of why backing vocals can help!
