  • Police have crushed an award-winning BMW after discovering it was a ‘cut-and-shut’ car made from at least FOUR stolen motors.
    Footage shows the striking bright green M3 Estate taking part in a car show in Germany last year.
    Months later cops stopped it as it travelled on Dartmouth Middleway in Birmingham on November 15 last year.
    Eagle-eyed traffic officers became suspicious when it emerged BMW never made an estate version of the M3.
    PC Mark Wheaver, from the Central Motorway Police Group (CMPG), said: “This should act as a striking reminder that cars may not be what they seem.
    “You might think you’re buying a bargain but it could be a death-trap that cost your life as well as thousands of pounds.
    “This BMW looked great on the outside, you can’t fault the paint job, but scratch beneath the veneer and it was just tag welded and structurally unsafe.

    Can we just clear up the fact it was crushed because it was built using stolen parts, NOT because it was registered as a 2.0 diesel!.

    It's so wasteful to crush a perfectly good car. The world already has a major pollution issue, why don't they just recycle the parts to be used to repair other vehicles? Now a plant has to manufacture new parts and release more C02. Crushing cars is a stupid practice.

      @Central Intelligence Agency If u look the clip one more time, you will see the term "cut and shut". Actually this wasn't one shell with m parts, but 4 different shells, welded together to form new shell. And for me, the owner was conned as he needed 4 shells to make the car.

    Should have had a CAT B marker put on it and sold only to bona fide breakers so as much money as possible could have been recouped, that is just beyond wasteful, its mindless vandalism of something still worth an incredible amount of money in parts.

    Just saw this video I can't believe the police crushed the car. Police have auctions all the time why not this car? You can also buy stolen or wrecked vehicles at auctions. If I had a chance i would have definitely bid on it. What a waste and money that could have been used to educate police and for other programs. But it's better I guess they pollute the environment they should crush everything they find stolen if it makes the police feel better. What a waste wow
    Oh remember don't buy that stolen Rolex at police auction it may get crushed as well. Lol;)

    • @PhenomStaR
      @PhenomStaR 3 года назад +1

      You are so dumb yes stolen recovered cars do get sold in auctions because the cars are still manufactured by the factory and not put together from different multiple cars parts fitted onto the 1 vehicle. Which is the case for this car the shell is welded up from at least 2 different vehicles as well as the entire engine, gearbox and the complete drive train and the ECU and wiring loom are all from 2 differential m3's hence by law they can not sell the car in auctions due to the part numbers belonging to cars that have been paid out by the insurance companies you can not have such a car on the public domain it would always create issues for whoever buys it as n when it gets stopped and they begin checking the vin numbers and then the engine n gearbox numbers would be a complete headache. The idiots should have purchased second hand engine and gearbox use the stolen parts but put them in the salvage parts casing and maybe this car would have not been crushed but the way they went about it the car deserved to get crushed.

    I like how they had a problem with parts of the car being from other stolen vehicles, so instead of returning those parts to their owners, they just crushed the car. Imagine if they did that with other things as well:
    Police: So we know you recently reported that someone had stolen you phone, and we have great news - it's been found!
    Some guy: Awesome! Where can I collect it?
    Police: Aw that won't work mate, we've set fire to it.
