Our garage holds woodworking tools, mechanic tools, bikes, a freezer, landscaping business items, seasonal decor, and kids’ toys that the adult sons will get when they are finished with college. We’ve never been able to use the garage for cars.
Being on the same page for the goal is so important! So many of these apply to us, our garage, and a couple closets (ugh, the low key other people storage units!). I’m gonna watch this again with my wife this weekend.
"Storing things for a friend." That brought back a memory from years ago. A friend asked me to store his sailboat! It was too big to go into the garage, but it sat outside beside the garage for quite some time! All good though. We are still friends today. This video is motivating for me. Thanks for posting.
Just recently found your channel and it's great. Had your video's playlist playing in the while decluttering a closet and got the job done in one day. Thanks for all the useful information and tips!
The things I have trouble getting rid of include bicycles (currently hanging from the ceiling), unused sporting equipment and giant sheets of cardboard (that I've historically used to build boxes for shipping large items (guitar amps, etc.)). Most of the big stuff is gone, but I just can't get myself to recycle the cardboard.
Our kids are grown, one is married and lives far away, but we still have tons of toys, etc. from their childhood filling space in our home. I guess we're saving it all for the "some day" when (hopefully) the other has kids of their own to pass the toys down to. It's quite ridiculous. Our garage is usable for the two vehicles that it was designed for, but it's far from optimal/presentable. When we moved from our apartment to our first home (nearly 40 years ago), I insisted that we be able to park both cars in the garage the day we moved in (which we did). Has always been a mandate of mine to keep it that way and it's the rare occasion when we can't. Always blows my mind how folks can have $100K worth of vehicles sitting in their driveway because their garage is filled up with a $1000 worth of crap!

GREAT video, Betsy! 😍
Thank you, Teresa! 😊

Same goal is SO key! Thanks Dave! 😃

I totally get that! It can be so hard to know what to hang onto and what to part with!

Way to go on keeping your vehicles in the garage! It always feels so good when we’re able to pull our car in! 😃
