Never Shake a hand on the street! Never Ever give him two hands. This hand shake was done to me by a real big guy while his friend tried a gun disarm on me. If he's not a real friend and his hand comes out, Fist Bump!
Carry a weak side knife and train to use it. Again ,Never Give your Hand!

I'm posting this question here because I can't find a video specific to it, hope that's OK.
My question is about the 10 Commandments, and no. 4 is "Control the focus" Briefly, that is about not giving up dominance by looking away when the street opponent starts hassling you (within the 3-foot area). So you return his gaze, eye-to-eye, which avoids showing subservience, in the way, for example, that a dog look away, when meeting a more dominant dog.
BUT, I was taught to gaze at the throat area for 2 reasons:
(1) Your concentration is then more diffused, and you will see movement of the feet and hands with your peripheral vision
(2) When staring eye-to-eye, you can become mesmerized and distracted by the psychological games going on at that time. For some people that stare-down may even have a hypnotic effect, which is the last thing you want!
So Prof. David, can you please comment on these issues?
