She should try that game the Rarran guy has been playing. Magic or something. I can't wait to see what joke merch the devs send her for this game though (surely a Rogue card?).
Not sure if this is helpful, but something that I didn’t know when I first started playing is that the player with the most total power reveals their cards first. This is also shown with an orange border on the player’s name. Hope you like the game and make more videos about it!
Yeah, it’s kinda interesting… Basically, if you’re playing a slower deck with “control” cards, then you actually want to be “losing” on purpose until Turn 6 so that you can “flip” the board at the last minute (For instance, your Shang Chi will activate last and kill any big cards they played on Turn 6, etc)
8:14 Retreating is actually a super valuable skill to learn. Games of Marvel Snap are not worth 1:1 rank experience like in other games. It's more similar to betting in Poker. If you retreat, you are only going to lose 1/2/4 cubes depending on how many people snapped. If you stay in to the end and lose, you will lose 2/4/8 cubes, because the cubes bet get doubled after the final turn. In addition to not losing double the amount for playing a whole game and losing, if the opponent snaps and you aren't confident with your hand, if you retreat before locking in your turn, the opponent's snap won't count against you, meaning you will only lose 1/2 cubes. So basically what will happen is: Win=2/4/8 cubes Lose=-2/-4/-8 cubes Retreat=-1/-2/-4 cubes Even if you have a low winrate, you can still be cube positive with proper retreating, since you can earn up to 8x what you lose with retreating. On the other hand, even if you have a high winrate, you can be cube negative if you don't know when to retreat and when to snap to make the most out of your games. Some basic snapping tips: 1. Snap on turn 1 if you want to climb. This might seem counterintuitive, but by doing this you put yourself in a position where the minimum you can win if you play to the end is 4, and the maximum you lose if you know when to retreat is 4 (losing only 2 is more common though). This also relieves some of the pressure on yourself, and places it on the opponent as well if they don't also follow this strategy, because you came into the game knowing the stakes while the opponent is suddenly having to risk more than they thought they would. 2. Never snap on the final turn. The opponent is already under the pressure of cubes doubling if they lose, and snapping here means that they will lose quadruple the points they would lose if they simply retreat. And if they retreat, you also don't get double the cubes you would have earned if they just stayed to the end. Snapping on the final turn can be used to bluff the opponent into retreating, but it's a very risky move, and will likely only work on newer players.
Never seen the snap before. Now I've seen it i know why. Idk who devs are but they should take some notes from hearthstone, especially back in the brode era when hearthstone was good.
This game is amazing if you keep playing it's not as complex as Magic but there's a lot of nuances and things you need to know if you ever feel like this game is too simple you should watch Ben brodes GDC speech and then it makes more sense
Cool gameplay Voxy. I actual enjoy the gameplay itself too. I sooo want to build a symbiote deck with Venom, Carnage, and Knull, though I do not know if the other symbiotes are included in Snap as well.
@@kuronaMermaid Thank you for the info. I always found the Symbiotes more interesting than Spiderman honestly. Only 2099 and Noir seem interesting as far Spiderman goes.
Nope, he'd be an auto-include in many decks, as the draw consistency he provides is massive in a game with a 12-card deck and almost no card draw. The board space just doesn't matter to some decks. America Chavez is Snap's worse version of Patches (you always draw her on turn 6, making your other turns more consistent), she's a Tier 2 card and the 7th most commonly played card in the game, seeing play in 15% of decks.
@@badaboum2no I think a much better comparison for patches is angel, a rather mid card and one of the first cuts from most destroy lists when they pull better tools
@@GCWeber True there's also elements of that. The thing is Angel requires a card to be destroyed, which you usually aren't doing before turn 3, which means it only makes your draw better for 3 turns (4 with Magik). Patches' effect usually happens on turn 1 or 2 which means less chances of drawing it. Plus Patches would be useful outside of destroy decks, which tend to not be very combo-oriented in their win condition, and combos is where deck-thining matters. Then again no mulligan and less cards in Snap means you're more likely to draw Patches. I think Deckster/Snapster or Cozy might have talked about the topic a bit.
Snap is fun but I went to hard grinding for infinite every season. Burned myself out and haven't played since. The game design and play are really great. The card acquisition system sucks super hard once you're out of the early stages though.
I'm a returning player, and honestly card acquisition seems much better than when collector's tokens got introduced, and that was already a step in the right direction. On the collection levels some caches have been changed to "Spotlight Caches", which will only give options out of the 3 weekly spotlight cards, one of which is a new card, or a random series 4/5 card (spotlight cards aren't random; evenly split odds; variants available for ones you already own). If you decide not to open the spotlight cache immediately, you can save it for a week where you need the spotlight cards (ideally saving 4 at once to guarantee the card you want, and only opening till you get that card). Each season you are also offered 1 free series 3 card you don't already own, and the offered card changes every 8 hours. Finally, collector's tokens are a little harder to obtain with the Spotlight Cache change, but the options are greater, with a weekly featured card (the new card from the Spotlight Cache), a lockable random series 4/5 card (every 8 hours when not locked it changes), and a random series 3 card option. There is also a lockable ultimate variant, but that seems to only be from cards you own, and intended for once you are done collecting the cards you want (it costs as much as a series 5 card).
When she said 6 hours I was thinking, what!? That was 11 minutes of voxy just straight winning. My assumption is we won for 6 hours straight cause gamers.
@@terrancesilvermistbenjamin9864 I wouldn't blame her if she decided to stop playing HS after the weasel incident. But I hope you're right and she'll play some more.
@@andrewswitchblade3556 I don't know I think she actually enjoys being a meme now in the Hearthstone community so it may actually keep her around plus Hearthstone has shown they really want her around too haha.
Always knew Voxy would snap someday.
😂
Strip* and give it like a month.
im waiting for her to try gwent someday
@@tanner3270Ngl I think she'd be too distracted by Dryads and Naiads to strategize. Tbf they're very distracting. What incredible art.
It's nice to see Hearthstone streamer Voxy branching out and trying her hand at a second game!

I love voxy's voice! It's like the game doesn't matter 😅
Weasles do sound pretty cool.
She's Rogue!!!! Voxy is the coolest ever ❤❤❤
Marvel snap actually so fun
Huh, when Voxy concentrates enough to stop screeching, she has a very melodic voice. Who knew.
Snap is very cleverly designed for mobile gaming with 6 turn games. The guys at Second Dinner know what they're doing.
Sponsor hype! Glad you got to check out Marvel Snap! I was really into it for a while but went on a break, might have to get back in!
i dunno if you’ll read this at all, but Snap was designed by Ben Brode (among other people of course), the guy who previously worked on Hearthstone
Not sure if this is helpful, but something that I didn’t know when I first started playing is that the player with the most total power reveals their cards first. This is also shown with an orange border on the player’s name. Hope you like the game and make more videos about it!
holy shit ive been playing on an off for WEEKS and had no idea that’s how it worked
they really have to communicate that clearer

Where the heck is our Weasel Queen at? (sorry, I only watch on RUclips)
"What am I even doing?? Oh, I won!" - The new player experience right here, haha.
I'm so hooked to this game. It's pretty much a new type of card game. Great gameplay, fast pacing but still deep and rich mechanics for a 6 turn game
I’ve been waiting on this moment ALL MY LIFE 🎉😂
That's for sure Ben Brodes voice for the victory sound

I replaced MTG with Snap. I do not regret it at all.
I'm dissapointed that Voxy put on a jacket after seeing the intro with her cosplay in front of a green screen
Ben Brode made HS, he plays MTG so ofc his Marvel Snap is a good game (at least mechanically, some argue about card acquisition)
Is magic arena new player friendly? I was thinking of picking it up.
nice cosplay Voxy!
