Rare will always be my favorite too: Donkey Kong Country series, Goldeneye, Conker, Jet Force Gemini, Blast Corp, Perfect Dark, Diddy Kong Racing, Banjo-Kazooie, Killer Instinct, and many more. All 10s. ❤️
Thank you guys SO much for everything. Not just for the brilliant adventures we all had during our childhoods, but for TRULY caring about us, the fans. Not only that, but for this video. You didn't have to do this, and not only did us fans cherish it, I'm pretty sure you all had a blast drudging up old memories. I'm happy you all are still the same crazy guys who truly care about their children of N64 games. It gives me hope for the world.
Yooka-Laylee will be better than any Banjo Game will be nowadays. I mean look at that new Conker design. If they do make a new game it will probably get a lot of hate and it'll probably not be that great. I lost faith in them making a good Banjo Kazooie game so yeah.
Yeah it would be cool and I'm SUPER EXCITED for Yooka-Laylee but Banjo Kazooie wouldn't be that great unless they got some the original people or let Nintendo make it. Like you said, Playtonic is the New Rare
azart61 I'm sure that nothing would speak against a collaboration between Rare and Playtonic, most of the latter have been in Rare before anyways. And I would also like to have a more classic look (and gameplay) for Threeie.
Best thing about this video is that they reveal new things. Most "Things you Didn't Know" videos are stuff everyone knows like Mario's name being Jumpman originally. This is refreshing.
8:30 Still a Mystery of who voiced Tootie. Only Staff we know that voiced characters in Banjo Kazooie so far were Grant Kirkhope, Chris Sutherland, Chris Seavor and Lee Ray. Much more in Banjo Tooie.
Wasn't Eveline Fischer the person who voiced Tooty tho? Since she voiced most of the main female characters besides Gruntilda and her sisters, she voiced Brentilda, Honey B and Humba Wumba, pretty sure she also voiced Tooty
Now that I know in the first game, when Grunty casts the last spell and transforms Banjo into a frog, I want a remake with that in it! Not that you have to replay all the levels, but at least go back with Tooty and in every level fight a new boss and then each boss gives a special Mumbo token. If not bosses then at least a special mission. Like Grunty's spell also affects every world in some way and you have to fix it with Tooty and you'll be rewarded with the token.
Grant Kirkhope is my hero, all of the people who made Banjo Kazooie are my heroes! They're brilliant! It's amazing, we could spend 20 minutes and get banjo's samples to sing a full song, and maybe an hour or two more to tune it better, but at the time that was just being created.
You guys seriously gave my childhood some of the best games, as I'm 30 next month, I can't thank you all enough for making games that aged so well. I seriously am glad they're back on Switch Online, and I hope Banjo Tooie ends up making back to Nintendo too. Thanks again for being original, crass, and making me appreciate my dirty sense of humor from a young age. ❤️😬
I still own the two games I bought back in 1999 on the Nintendo 64 in their lovely boxes, Banjo Kazooie and Banjo Tooie. What true gaming gems. Anyone else play over 500 hours in each game? I sure have, maybe even more.
I still have my banjo games and I still play them to this day ❤❤❤ love the music, love the graphics! They don't make games like they used to 😭, they need to make more games like this. This is my childhood!
+EdwardSponge Nuts & Bolts was technically Banjo Threeie until the main idea got scrapped and was turned into a typical Lego Racers style tragedy. But that's what Yooka Laylee are here to correct.
I love seeing any Banjo-Kazooie videos you guys post. This game was such a huge part of my childhood, and now in my 20s I often wish that there was more. These videos kinda help with that!
i love this game, i love this interview i love grant ESPECIALLY but i love everything about this game...and how much of my childhood it shaped...thank you so much for making this
Rare, you guys were my favorite game developers growing up, whether it was Banjo or DK there was always some kind of magic; I wish Microsoft would let you make more games or even let you work with Nintendo again.
+Mehirishgamer 22 don't get me wrong it had its flaws but you just have to really look to find the fun; I would have preferred a good old platformer in those graphics.
Thank you, Rare, for giving me the first game I could call my own. I played many games before it, but GoldenEye 007 was the first game that was mine, and I had endless hours of enjoyment with it. Thanks for making my childhood full of fun memories.
I absolutely love this format! It's so lively! So informal, yet professional all at the same time! Do keep doing this more often, guys! And feel free to keep showing off more alpha footage, particularity of that temple and the grassy pond with the whale in it (not pictured here, but in "A Rare Look at Dream")! And if you happen to find a forest full of fungus in there somewhere... TOUR IT!
+Lugbzurg That's Rare programmer James - you can hear his dependable lungs and sometimes see his increasingly hairy face in many of our videos and Twitch streams (and stalk him @BIGsheep on Twitter)
These videos are amazing. Even though we don't have a new Banjo game, I sincerely appreciate you guys taking the time and effort to put these together. It's incredible that I'm still learning new things about this series! The video footage also confirms that the Rare archives have everything I imagined they did when I was a kid XD
Rare your games are the things that me and my granny like to play and I thank y'all rare for the really awesome and fun games y'all made with the humor and entertainment I'm glad y'all are still around to continue the games thank y'all rare :)
I’ll never forget first getting in to Rusty Bucket Bay. It was the only level that N64 Magazine hadn’t documented thoroughly in their coverage and so was a complete surprise deep into the game, like a whole huge bonus level. Loved it.
Rare was way ahead of it's time with banjo kazooie trying to create an end game mode with Tootie saving Banjo. A lot of RPG's are trying to recreate playable of this kind with just expanding your final character into a brand new world, but here the plot would change too. DLC content maybe? A LOT OF MISSED OPPORTUNITIES MISSED HERE.
Oh boi. One of the best game of all time. I've played it a lot back then, and even now I love to play it from time to time. I'm pretty sure that I would faint if someone from rare or the banjo dev team replied to my comment.
You know what, had they indeed ported Rare Replay on Wii U instead of disconfirming it, its Xbox games wouldn't have been on it due to licensing issues with Microsoft. Plus, there is not going to be any DLC for Rare Replay at all. I'm actually very happy that Rare is a part of Microsoft, believe it or not.
+Brian McCormick Banjo Kazooie: Nuts no Bolts is pretty much Banjo Threeie itself. Thought I'd let you know that a Spiritual Successor is being developed.
I do know that. Yooka-Laylee looks really great. And, yes, if there ever is another Banjo game in the series (not counting Yooka-Laylee), it will most likely be called Banjo-Fourie. At least, that's what I would call it.
Christian Green if the titles that Nintendo in Germany goofed up on and released placeholders on amazon are real then yes we should be receiving ports. I hope we get full remasters but we can just wait and see.
Wow, I thought I knew everything. I was clearly wrong. Entertaining video, god bless my childhood. I'm 30 right now and thinking: I'd totally sit down and play this game all over and over again. (Or a successor even)
It's ridiculous how much history the development of Kazooie and Tooie have behind the scenes, not just in the transition from Dream but also in the conduct of it's talented (and delightfully sarcastic) staff. I'm fortunate enough to be one of the lucky ones that got Kazooie on launch day, June 29th 1998 (in the US) It's a game I've treasured since, and it's nothing short of awesome to still be learning new facts about it's history, straight from the developers nearly two decades later :)
Thanks for this guys, really entertaining video! Loads of info I didn't know, and a couple of insider jokes I hadn't picked up on over the years (despite studying the N64 games extensively during Grunty's Revenge / Banjo Pilot dev). Please keep 'em coming :)
Hmmm, I think I remember the ooh me knackers story from game grumps! But there's something I have to know that I never really got answered; the knocker doors in Banjo Kazooie. Can they be opened, did anyone open them, how did they open them, and what if anything was behind them? Is there nothing, or was there something extra behind the knockers doors in Banjo Kazooie in the machine room?!
