For me the defining moment was actually right in the first game where G2 traded a baron to SKT for a botlane inhib and every textbook league of legends tells you that this is bad. On top of that they don't go for the steal but want to stay on the map and it's like all the viewers want to spam ping questionmarks. And in the end you realize that G2 felt it was the right play all along. If Jankos goes for the steal, he dies handing SKT the map pressure instantly so they can use the full baron time to siege. But by not going for the hero play they keep the map pressure so SKT uses half their baron time to regain map pressure and cannot achieve anything with a whole baron but they have given up an inhib for it. It's plays like this that are so hard to understand ingame and it always feels like G2 knew it all along but they cannot have. It is impossible someone comes up with that plan. G2 just felt like it was fine doing this trade, they did and they won. Point proven. It's exceptional
Anxiety on its best. Its hard to be emotionaly detached and not react to your own thougths and especially the crowd.Thats why i am learning to not emotionaly get attached to a things.

Several times in that series I almost wrote G2 off after seeing SKT take control of a game in the early stage and start pressuring them and G2 apparently doing what I see every team that loses to superior opponents do- cede everything, take no initiative, just sit there and lose slowly. But by now I've finally seen enough miracle turnarounds to not completely give up on them until the end, and G2 showed that they weren't just panicking, wandering aimlessly around failing to contest one objective after another and letting SKT steamroll them, they were keeping the gold (the ONLY real cold hard measure of power in LoL, no matter what the edgelord kill-hunting assassin players will tell you) fairly even, and sticking to their strategies to turn the games around one after another. And I think _this_ implacability is what ultimately tipped the balance. You could see Faker's hands shaking and there were multiple occasions where he made blunders that got him caught out and killed, dooming his team, but I don't think he had just lost it- it was the consequences of facing a team that just _would not be intimidated._ Faker was living dangerously, making high-risk, high-reward plays which failed to come off because G2 would not back down, so Faker was constantly putting himself in dangerous positions and being made to pay for it. G2 looked _clinical_ in this series and they really might be able to beat FPX in the Grand Final.
G2 used the moment of the reality to boost their confidence. If they have nothing to lose, they gona enyoj the game without the stress, have better clairvoyance and clarity without mind fog,no anxiety just observant calmed mind with super mindfullness, awarness and thougthfullness.Thats what i saw in G2 and lacked in SKT.

Nothing but respect for G2. They earned that win. I watch LCK all the time, I know how strong SKT is. Granted they int'd a little in game 4, but apart from that, SKT were in top form and were still the second best team on the day. This final will be insane. My heart says G2 to win, cause I have always wanted EU to win Worlds (not including season 1), but I have really enjoyed watching FPX get better and better, and so I wouldn't be too sad if they grabbed it. Just give me 5 games though!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i feel like no matter how good you are, league is one of those games that after thousands and thousands of games you hit a wall creatively and cannot play as well as you have in your peak
Both teams played well. The better team won on the day. Maybe one could argue that SKT int'd a little in game 4, but other than that, it was amongst the most clean series of Worlds. Both teams pushed each other to the edge. None of G2's wins were easy. This is coming from an SKT fan also. Hats off to G2 :)
@Tom Hunt isn't about being the underdog. They might have been seen as the underdog last TI, this TI they were seen as THE contender (at least as soon as ana rejoined the roaster, mid-March forward). But the way they dominated the last brackets of the TI, specially in the finals... they were also playing from behind, in every game of the series, but as soon as the lane phase was over (that they themselves ended, every, single, game... as did G2) it was time to hunt. The G2 games made me think of that... wasn't as dominant as OG (both are mobas but they are very different games, the rhythm, mechanics and pace is very very different, Dota allows for more dominant shows of force than LoL ever will... there's no better example than fountain farming in Dota, it's close to impossible in LoL except for Ryze ulting minions but that's limited to a few seconds of action, nothing like staying half a minute or a full one there, as in Dota), but they were dominating every, single, team, fight. Regardless if SKT had all the dragons, had all the barons, G2 simply took them pretty much all the team fights, on their terms. The control of the map was very reminiscent of OG this TI. @King Vergil true last TI, not this year, OG was seen as a contender, as was Liquid or EG (lol, poor Sufail). But like I said, wasn't about being the underdog, it is about the level of control, the dominance even from behind. Bar the differences of both games (that I talked bout above), and the level of control and dominance is reminiscent. Faker, who's been considered the best player to have ever graced LoL, known to be a calm and collected persona, was in shambles, trembling... that's telling of the dominance exerted by G2 over the most successful team in LoL history.
I am LPL fan but if any team other than LPL wins final I would prefer it to be G2, they truly deserve it this year. But I have a feeling watching this serie it’s more about SKT did bad than G2 did good. And that FPX can smash G2 next week. But of course that could be wrong. Good job G2 regardless.
I think the biggest problem is that the game had to change drastically to nerf faker and lessen Korean dominance. You can't be a god and solo carry from midlane anymore
Or you can say "Koreans could only play one style a d can't play another".its all bullshit, faker was and always will be one of the greats, but just like a great player like faker was discovered more like him are coming up
Wut? Faker was just straight up bad in late game. He was instrumental early but then got caught up late, like one of the critical teamfights in this last game when Teddy splits to the right, Faker goes left and that's a horrible decision because G2 nukes him. Had he gone right it would've been fine, but nope.
LUL! ...If they nerf Koreans dominance because of meta change then the less minor region like Wildcards should stomp LCK right now but didn't happened. ...Their snooze meta is pretty busted for Koreans that's why they abused it for many years. ...If that snooze meta doesn't exist back then the Koreans will never be 4th time world champions and it shows a lot of their weaknesses and i hope RIOT will never be brought back the snooze meta forever or else the Koreans will get 100% winrate in tournaments all the time
@@Ampaomike I agree, game times have come down by 10 minutes in two years and this worlds has seen the most unique champ picks in at least 4 years, maybe ever. So actually the meta evolved into a more variable set than it has ever been, and Koreans just couldn't keep up. The only role that actually got shafted is the ADC because there's like 3 champs you can play there. But ADCs are spoonfed babies anyway so who cares.
Faker played poorly late game which was shocking. Both 3 and 4 should’ve been games they won. Caps did well. Perkz did alright and went off in the late games of both games. Pretty much luck and determination were on G2s side today. Good luck to them in the finals. It’s a pretty exciting time to be an lol fan for future events now with 3 regions all capable of making deep runs. China and LCK are stacked as a whole but EU having one team that can compete with them is fantastic. Any of the 4 semifinal teams could’ve won this year and it simply came down to on the day.
@ImOld Gregg Meh, Splyce got out bc their group was weak af. His point was that only G2 are really strong enough to make a deep run and be a true contender to win worlds. Fnatic and Splyce are just too weak compared to the rest of the competition in playoffs.
This year is so exciting! Because of how the sides of the quarters and semis played out it's really hard to predict who will win! And yeah, geez, Faker really fucked up!
G2 didn't need to do anything special really to win this series. This is the worst I've ever seen SKT play in a long long time. Clid had some good moments and Teddy has been their only solid player for most of this year. A routine win honestly. It would pretty amazing to see an EU team win worlds and G2 players are all likeable but Ocelote is an ass, has no idea what the difference between confident and egotistical idiot is. Nonetheless its going to be a fun final. I'm rooting 60/40 for FPX only because I dont want Ocelote to win :)
@@Agaryunaer Sure if you want to talk about perspective. Try a premier league team playing against a pub team, that would look like a masterclass too. SKT were all over the place and G2 played out 3 standard wins.
Unless you are comparing SKT to a pub team, it's harsh to say that SKT played vastly worse then they did all season long. Sure, on individual level you could say effort/mata & fakar did not play to their standard. But the same thing could be said about Perkz/Wunder & even Jankos depending on which games you pick. G2 actually made more individual mechanic mistakes this series. They made up for it by dancing around SKT when behind and forcing fast team decision making. Maybe pressure got to them and forced some mistakes, but i don't think SKT played bad overall this series. Unless you want to put it all on a couple of late game teamfights, which is not the main reason G2 won.

Very good series. G2 showed that they can play from behind, which is very rare in professional teams.

When you push G2 into their base they power up. G2 behind is ahead, playing right into the trap. And SKT looks shaky after being cleaned out twice.
