I remember when 131 came out, I saw a video of a huge plaza full of people in Mexico broadcasting the episode. It was the greatest thing i'd ever seen. the entire crowd chanting "GOKU FREEZA GOKU FREEZA" during the final push like it was a legit sporting event. Like I dream to see something like that in person.
I was there! Lived close to the border so it was a 20 min drive. The memory is burned into me Ill never forget it. Literally was like a sporting event with the cheers and hype 🎉😂. My buddy’s GF was in shock at how many people showed up and how ecstatic the crowd was.
The Ultra Instinct theme never fails to give goosebumps. This theme along with the tournament ost are some of the best pieces of music to come out from anime.

Because Dragon Ball is really different in english dub compared to the original. A lot of people have nostalgia for a bad dub from the 90’s and early 2000’s (its much improved ever since Kai came out), and act like its the only way to enjoy the show. The fanbase will always be divided because of the horrible early dubs.

I'm Mexican, that episode was historical, they put it in an arena in front of hundreds of people, they were all loosing their minds to see Goku in that state, even Japan's government was like "stop playing the episodes in every bar, stadium, school, park, etc". Just to let you know, there's another weapon universe 7 had, with that they would've ended the whole tournament in a single episode, it's when Goku and Vegeta form together which gives birth to a new charrector Godly being called Gojeta , it only remains for 30 mins but those 30 mins would've been enough for him to mop the whole stadium with all other enemies from all 6 universes, they didn't use that form cuz vegeta hates working with goku and become 1 with him, probably because they share the same Dik and body 🤣🤣

While normally I’d agree with English dub, it’s really only for DBZ Kai and for Super. The original cut of Dragon Ball + Z is better subbed because the actors/actresses were in their prime. OG cut for English the voice actors were relatively new and not well seasoned. Not to mention two different studios did English dubs. By the time DB Kai (Japan) and DBZ Kai (Other) released many of the OG voice actors for JP had aged past their prime, while not terrible some of the original cast did pass as well. DBZ Kai has some new castings but the core VAs (from the Funimation dub that is widely known for English speakers) that were still around had very refined acts and it was their peaks, and is still to this day considered one of the best dubs of all time. Side note “Kai” was made to remove filler from the anime and shorten it to be more manga accurate, as well as rewriting many lines that were censored or translated poorly to be more manga accurate. The biggest example is “Over 8000” not 9000 Edit: it’s already a book so I don’t care I’m adding this. RIP CHRIS AYERS THE BEST FREEZA

Maybe on the tv airings it was blurry but I just rewatched it around a year ago and it’s definitely over hated for not many reasons. Some of the new VAs (mainly gohan) I did not like. Also the falconer score is mid compared to the original Japanese score, and I grew up with the falconer score.
The last scene is actually kind of huge for the og dragon ball fans Cause you already know Goku and Freeza were old enemys and them working together here was very funny yet sent chills down the spine when i watched it the first time Its been so long since this episodes (you gonna do dragon ball reaction 😶😅?) It's unbelievable to me that some people think the dub is better. Sub Jiren is some of the best voice acting i've ever heard, and sub Goku is strange, but fitting for the type of person he is. I struggle to believe people can truly think Dub is directly superior to the sub.
