I love the fact that I am 48. My spine and lungs are knackered due to lifelong health issues but this reminds me of when I could still put in a fourteen hour stomping and skanking when we had the best of everything. Tunes, DJs, MCs and of course we had each other. Thanks for giving an old man a rushy Friday afternoon.

The tech rounded off the edges. Any hobby producer can put out generic dnb like painting by numbers for their youtube tutorial. I remember using Amiga Protracker and Octmed, the first sign that PCs could make tunes and you didnt need a room full of racks and a degree in electrical engineering.
its just sped up dubstep now. Its dead. These raves from this era piss all over what they call “raves” now (a load of people slightly moving recording on a phone ffs) sweat dripping off the ceiling, absolutely rushing off your box to the intros of the tunes…. oh man take me back

Still my favourite set from the best years of Drum and Bass. Andy was masterful and the selections ridiculous. Fearless & Skiba (RIP) absolutely rock it together. Damn still hurts that Skibs is not with us anymore. His legendary status lives on with all Junglists and Ravers 🙏
All the music from around the millennium give or take 5 years was peak. An industrial sound more developed than jungle and before the commercial jump-up style. Loved it still do. There’s a documentary on prime about one nation.

I started raving at the Rex a couple months after this event, the one nation album launch party , when a queen lookalike got roasted on stage 😂this venue was unbelievable and 1999 was the best year for drum and bass. One nation and heat 1999 at the Rex was the best vibe ever, They had a Prince Charles lookalike who was greeted much better than his lookalike mother, but my lot gave him stick😂🎉Big up all the old school Rex ravers🎉

Skibba and Fearless, not sure it can be touched. They melt into each other and this is no more apparent on the Prophecy radio show which Skibba said was his favourite set. It was mentioned in the KoolFM X Rinse FM tribute show that Skibba has been faultless in all his time, that's something at his level! RIP Skibba.
