it might be just be but i feel with these hotwheel branded sets like the large boneshaker and this that they've just been outclassing lego's in quality, value and detail. absolutely love all of them, great review
Whoa, that's a big box Bigfoot mega construx set! Nice score, dude. I have 2 of the smaller hotwheels/mega construx sets. I have a red Bone Shaker hot rod and a green alien sports car, kinda looks like a Porsche. Both of the sets are fun, well made and make great looking cars👍 I also have MOTU and Halo mega construx but can never find standard brick sets. You'd think that with So much branded product out there, mega construx would produce standard/themed brick sets to compliment all the toy lines they put out. The MOC builds for MOTU toys would be endless
That’s rad - I’ve thought about getting some of the smaller HWs branded sets but just never got around to it. I am going to buy the new licensed smaller sets that they are releasing next year, like the ATS-V and the Squarebody Silverado!
currently typing, i own the large scaled Roger Dodger, Purple Passion, Street Rodder and the Bone Shaker. Getting Mod Rod within the next few weeks. Also have all of the small scaled HW Mega models. enjoyed every single one of them.
Mega > LEGO... why? 1) ALL pieces are tempo! 2) Unique pieces for all their sets 3) Not expensive as LEGO 4) again, you won't find a sticker sheet from MEGA with all of their sets 5) MEGA minfigs has 12 points of articulation too! Subbed
Agree! They are much more high quality than comparable Lego sets and much more affordable! Lego has dominated the market for so long, but due to price and build factors people are starting to notice the other brick brands - which is good! Lego could use some competition ha! Thanks for the love too!

This more a kit for kids. Not really an adult kit. Lego has done much better with Icon series like the 911 or James Bond DB5. I have done the 4 1/8 super cars and these are amazing with things like fully functioning AWD and 8 speed gear boxes. Definitely not for kids. If you want a great build look to the Lego Titanic. I had a blast with it and then moc my ow details for the deck based on real photos of the ship. I even moc a scaled Iceberg.
I’ve built a lot of Lego kits and I wouldn’t say this is a kids kit as it’s very nice quality and pretty accurate. Overall I think Lego has a hold on the brick market, but brands like Cobi and Mega Construxs are definitely cutting into it. I don’t think you can beat Legos larger sets though like you were mentioning - I have the Back to the Future Delorean and the Atlantis Space Shuttle and they are both excellent!
The Lego kits run the entire range from basic to very engineered. Much of their marvel is how they take stock based blocks and create things accurately with built Technic. The Lunar Lander and Saturn V with no special parts. The higher priced items are often examples of you get what you pay for. Like the DB5. It has a functioning ejector seat, raising rear armor and machine guns that appear. The 911 is accurate and can be done as a turbo coupe or a Targa. Cobi is nice due to the military topics but the engineering is basic and part counts are low. Same on Mega as 500 parts is not much for a large item.
HELP: we’ve assembled this truck but when we put on front, suspension bands, that front rectangular piece, grey, runs East to west, it pops off & the tires fold in slightly.
That one is more realistic, but it’s double the price point of this set. Lego sets in the same price range as this truck don’t look nearly as good unfortunately 😩
Lego is good but they have nothing on this level of detail and sheer size of a monstertruck only way to get to this level is to do a custom monstertruck like I've done with a bus

Hmmm I’m trying to look at mine and figure out what maybe the issue - is the part that pops off on the front of the truck or the side?
if you think lego is not realistic look at the 1967 lego ford mustang

Very few of those look good. The newest Countach and Ferrari race car looks good, but most of the others are pretty terrible imo.
