When I got into law enforcement in 2004 we had a few of the older guys who were of the same way of thinking as Captain Combs, and they were the cops and officers you gravitated to because they not only had knowledge but they also had common sense, something sorely missing in America and today's law enforcement. There's too much of an "us vs them" attitude when it comes to new officers and that's not the way it should be. We're all in this together, and when I learned, we were made aware, the people you see will be the ones your kids go to school with their kids, they will be your neighbors, you will see them at the store, in public, etc. All of that made a difference.
I, and my family, are on your side, Sir, and on the side of all good lawmen. And may I say, Sir, this is one of the best presentations I have seen in a very long time.
This is the kind of man I sorely miss. I grew up in west Texas with a lot of WW2 vets, and just old tough men that have been through a lot, with plenty of guts and common sense. These were tough, sharp guys that expected excellence. Outstanding Americans, who were very capable.
If you look at the Troopers who are watching Lt. Combs, you will see several shots of Trooper Billy Young who was later killed in the line of duty in Caddo County.
The confidence and credibility that comes from field experience. Well presented and interesting talk. Initially was going to listen to the first few minutes ...but the opening was too well done Not to watch and listen all the way through. Thanks for sharing this Clip !

This old boy wouls have made a good United States Marine! The reason our country sucks today is because we do not have more people like him (Dan Combs).
His closing message needs to be echoed to all law-abiding citizens today! A true legend right there.
Capt. Dan Combs was one of the greatest men i have ever known. A true patriot a man of service to the people of oklahoma. May God Bless him.
We had a whole bunch of Dan Combs video tapes to watch when I went through CLEET in 1989. Capt. Combs was an amazing exhibition shooter.
Old School! Hard as a rock.
Captain Combs was a friend of my dad, Neal Knox. I saw a version of this demonstration at a benchrest match in Skiatook, Oklahoma around 1975.

I've always heard that Dan's dimwittedness was what was legendary.
Dimwitted friend ???? Yes you are..you wont find a sharper more disciplined mind than this man has...
So freaking fast draw
He would have been fired in today’s age.
Are we still making men like this?
