    Great video. The swap went just as shown. I would've never found the screws holding the PCB housing if it weren't for this video.

    I'll be receiving my new PCB board in a few days. My unit was turning on/off be itself. The Wen customer service rep sent me this video in my email. It's a good video, I'll be using it when replacing mine. Thanks for the tips!

      @@MikeChuk Thanks for letting me know. I’m glad that they are sharing my video. Hopefully it saves you some time and the new PCB solves your problem. I haven’t had any issues since putting the new on in.

    I have a 3410 and the "smart" engineers have decided to use locknuts on the back of the screws. This means I had to take the whole panel off in order to hold down the nuts and be able to unscrew the PCB panel instead of being able to do it from the front. The 3410 PCB has a habit of turning itself on and replacement of PCB is part of the unit.
    Thanks to you I now understand why they included a new sticker for the controls.... Stupid design!

      Can’t argue with you. The design has some flaws!!! Glad my video was of some help.

    Very well done, sir. Thanks. I also spoke with Phil on my #3417 unit and he was terrific. Not only did he resolve the issue but recommended your video for replacing the PCB. (And btw, thanks for not continuously referring to it redundantly as the PCB Board. Like ATM machine, 0330 AM in the morning!) 😅

    Just had an issue with my unit after 4 years of no hassles. Power would kick on for a sec and then stop. WEN guy said I needed a new PCB, but they are unavailable… so, not too helpful. Did a quick visual inspection of the PCB and saw that the big green 1000 uF cap had swelled. Amazon had a replacement (actually, a 10 pack) for $5. After a couple days wait for the replacement and a 5 min soldering job I was back in business. Good as new!

    Very helpful, thanks! Two additional comments: be sure your zip tie is lined up correctly and not backwards, because it's a pain to try and twist it (lol); and be sure the circuit board is lined up correctly with your manual on and off switches when you reassemble.

    Hi Ray, Just replaced the PCB board on my 3417 for the SECOND time. First time was so long ago--almost one full year--that I reviewed your excellent video again and it made the job go quick and easy. The air filter is unmatched in performance and everything else but sure wish WEN would figure out what causes these boards to fail so often. Thank you again for your great video.

      I’m glad the video was helpful. I don’t like hearing that the PCB failed again. Did they replace it for free? I agree that the unit does a great job!

    MANY thanks Ray for your outstanding video which made changing out the PC Bd quick and easy. But without it, I would never have located the screws holding the PC Bd. Defies all logic that a great company as old and big as Wen would cover those two critical mounting screws with decals. And without you, there would be no instructions!
    Two minor points that might help your followers: 1) There are release tabs on both plugs that must be depressed to remove the plugs and they aren't obvious when you are up there on the ladder. And 2) If you don't cut the zip tie, you won't have to replace it. You can easily pull the antenna wire from the zip tie and then reuse it to wrap the new board's antenna wire.

    Exactly same thing happened to me after about 6 months. Really like this system but bothered that it has this common problem. When I called they said exactly the same thing. I think I will pull my system down to be easier to work on.
    I wonder if the antenna being coiled may be a reason some people say the remote has a very short range. I may experiment while it is open, with letting the wire length run down so there may be more signal gain and allow you to turn it on from further away.
    Thanks for the video and I agree, they actually picked up the phone when I called and were very professional.

    • @Ray_Here
      @Ray_Here  Год назад +1

      Pulling it down would make it more convenient to work on for sure! Let me know about the antenna. It’s good to call a company that actually answers the phone. I’m curious, did they tell you about my video?

      @@Ray_Here they did not mention your video but I did. Also, just as a follow up, I called them Friday and they mailed out a new board right away and I got it Monday!! So I installed it today. Yes I pulled down the unit with my wife's help. Screwed everything back together and we rehooked it and it works great. I can't speak highly enough for the customer support at Wen and I am considering a second unit for our wood shop.

    did the company say this is a common issue with this model?

    • @Ray_Here
      @Ray_Here  2 года назад +1

      I checked with the WEN technical person and asked if the PCB going out was a common problem. His response was “No, not really”. I hope that helps. I also have a WEN table top belt sander. I’ve never had any problems with it.

    • @dmohr02
      @dmohr02 2 года назад

      I’m having the same issue and just spoke to them. They are sending out a new PCB. I asked if it was easy to install and they said “yeah, some guy made a video on RUclips on it, it’s really good.” They were right!
      I am betting this is starting to crop up as more of a problem. Mine actually stopped working a few months ago and an initial search online didn’t turn up much else other than to replace the fuse. I was lazy about getting it taken care of as soon as I should and just got around to it and now I can see this video and some other reports online about this issue. My unit was manufactured in 1/21, so I am assuming there is probably a batch around that time with bad PCB’s

    • @Ray_Here
      @Ray_Here  2 года назад +1

      @@dmohr02 could very well be a bad batch. I’m hoping the new one lasts! I’m glad the video was helpful. The only downside is cutting through the vinyl control pad. They said that they will send me a new one when they get them in stock. Thanks for letting me know they directed you to my video. They said they were going to put it in their library.
