Lara's interpretation of this song is something out of this world. Notice her entering to the song before it even starts, by taking a few deep breaths. Same thing happens @ the end. Lara needs a 15 -20 seconds to come out of the song.

He ability to emote is beyond compare, and at the end if you watch closely, she doesn't really drop character until her hand goes over her mouth in reaction to the ovation she so richly earned and deserves. I live in France and in 2013 I just got heartbroken, and a guy friend shows me this one and also Perdere l'amore that she sings in Italian. I watched them over and over again. It had a katarshic effect on me. It's like she expressed the feeling I needed to get out. I still after all these years get shivers when I hear her, although I don't cry anymore. She healed me. You can hear a lot of songs about heartbreak, but non as cleansing as this one.

I was blown away the first time I saw this performance. It's magical. I've now heard the studio recording and her recorded live performance, and while they are similar to this and very good, this particular performance is just on another level. Her breath control, her pitch, and all the things she does to help her communicate the message of the song are all amazing. This song and Lara's performance have really stuck with me. I've watched this video so many times and it still gets me every single time. One of my ATF performances. C'est magnifique!
@Toni Penkova I agree 100%! And I take the chance to recommend again on showing Henri Johnny Hallyday and Lara Fabian performing "requiem pour un fou" live at the Stade de France. I don't want to spoil too much, but again Lara is able to pull you into the song conveying all the emotions to the audience, but in a different way. On top there is a genre mix involved and as you like that with Floor I am pretty sure you will like it with Lara as well. Henri was overwhelmed like I was when I heard Lara sing this for the first time. I found her through Dimash and she is one of my most favorite female artists. You are very considerate for allowing Henri to try to express her feelings despite being overwhelmed; I felt the same way. Lara is a master in using her body and facial expressions to emote when she is a singing.
Completely understand Henri's reaction. This performance is overwhelming, stunningly beautiful and haunting. Unquestionably one of the best performances of any song ever.

I was at this concert in Paris in 1999. I still can't forget the "ambiance" in that hall that night. The video rendering is nothing compared to the sound and energy we felt that night. Many spectators cried.

The first time I saw this performance... I speak no french at all, but the first time I saw this, there were no subtitles and I think that was what drew me in even deeper. You can be distracted from the art by the subtitles. It was the most amazing vocal performance I had ever seen. I am a vocalist by trade. I sing and play guitar for a living. The moments AFTER the song really affected me the most. I have been in the position before, having sung a song and gone deep into the performance. It takes time to return to the mundane stage... My favorite song performance of all time. (and I don't even speak french!)

Dalida was touched by the words that meant a lot to her and then she decided to make her own version that was also quite successful as it was really emotional. So yes it was not directly related to her tragic relationships, but I am sure they are the reason she chose to sing this song :-)

Laura sang, performed and LIVED the song. Living the song made it so perfect. There are other performers that sing with emotion, but you can tell it is not real. With Laura, like Dimash, she gets into the song and IS the song. Sabina, from a comment on another version, I should have known you, like me, would listen to all her versions of the song.
Serge Lama wrote this song for himself and it has been a great succeess in the 70ties when it came out, despite the fact this kind of mood was surprising audience comming from a man (by that time). But the text is powerfull and well written and metaphores are ringing a bell to any sensible listener. Difficult to qualify the work Lara does but in french we call it "interpretation" and that's why you should allways listen french songs with subtitles. And it makes a great difference with some singers who have a good technic but don't understand a single word of what they are singing.
At your first reaction I wrote: I want to grab into my monitor and give you a big hug. Now I want to do that again and give Henri a big hug. Lara just has that impact on you.
Hello Sabina; I know how you and your partner were deeply moved by Lara Fabian’ s heartwrenching performance of “ Le Suis Malade” but now I will introduce you to a South Korea crossover vocal harmony group called “ Forestella” with the same ( or even MORE emotional impact singing this heartbreaking song.). They are a 4 male crossover harmony group from South Korea. When they performed their first song ( the Freddy Mercury classic“ Bohemian Rhapsody”) it catapulted them to international stardom and they now have millions of followers worldwide. They were all at one time solo performers. One has a very deep bass/baritone voice. Another, a high operatic voice, and the other two group members (who were also solo performers) combine to render a confluence of absolute total passion and performed live on stage in front of thousands of fans. I thought no one would ever come close to Lara’s’ soulful rendition. And no one vocalist will. But when you have 4 members and the best vocal harmony group in the world, well. ( all I can say is have your Kleenex handy) Some of their other songs I recommend are Simon & Garfunkel classic “The Sound Of Silence”, Guardian “ Angel” that will lift your spirits and transport you to another world-especially during these troubled covid times. And the hauntingly beautiful “ hijo de la luna” But “ Le Suis” remains my all time favorite. I’ve watched it 5 times and each and every time it moves me to my depths. One of the greatest single artist concerts, front to back. Every performance in this PBS special was simply Lara at her peak and this performance - well, you can see at the end how invested she was as it took her a good 45-60secs to get back to the now as she has a very upbeat song to do next. She's the greatest female singer of her generation, for me. Others may have similarly amazing technical gifts but no other can communicate the emotions of a song as she can.
If you ever get the opportunity to see and hear her live - I recommend it. I went to her concert once (in Helsinki) and it was unforgettable. Listening to one of the world's best singers... it is really something. Her way of connecting with the audience is very powerful too - I was sitting at the back and I was actually glad I was far enough from the stage because the emotional impact was so strong that I was not sure how I could have taken it if I had been closer to her. There was a Russian woman sitting next to me, visibly enjoying, and I whispered to her spontaneously: "She is SO good!" and the woman answered smiling "Yes" and then closed her eyes again and just listened.
When I heard this song for the first time by Lara I was totally speechless for a few seconds - it was not just the song, it was the delivery, the emotion, the story telling and the despair. It brought to mind any heartbreak or breakup you may have had in the past and brought it back in that moment. As Henri said, no one else could have done that song justice. She puts her heart and soul into every performance. Having heard this a few months ago, I needed to see her Live and am now going to Belgrade to see her (hopefully !!)

I absolutely adore this performance by Lara. He ability to emote is beyond compare, and at the end if you watch closely, she doesn't really drop character until her hand goes over her mouth in reaction to the ovation she so richly earned and deserves. Henri, I actually expected to see tears a couple of times, as well from Sabina. But regardless, I am always awed by you both. Merci beaucoup!

I live in France and in 2013 I just got heartbroken, and a guy friend shows me this one and also Perdere l'amore that she sings in Italian. I watched them over and over again. It had a katarshic effect on me. It's like she expressed the feeling I needed to get out. I still after all these years get shivers when I hear her, although I don't cry anymore. She healed me. You can hear a lot of songs about heartbreak, but non as cleansing as this one.

I was blown away the first time I saw this performance. It's magical. I've now heard the studio recording and her recorded live performance, and while they are similar to this and very good, this particular performance is just on another level. Her breath control, her pitch, and all the things she does to help her communicate the message of the song are all amazing. This song and Lara's performance have really stuck with me. I've watched this video so many times and it still gets me every single time. One of my ATF performances. C'est magnifique!

@Toni Penkova I agree 100%! And I take the chance to recommend again on showing Henri Johnny Hallyday and Lara Fabian performing "requiem pour un fou" live at the Stade de France. I don't want to spoil too much, but again Lara is able to pull you into the song conveying all the emotions to the audience, but in a different way. On top there is a genre mix involved and as you like that with Floor I am pretty sure you will like it with Lara as well. Search for the YT channel of Chris Engel and you will find the video (posted the link in another comment but don't have at hand right now).

Henri was overwhelmed like I was when I heard Lara sing this for the first time. I found her through Dimash and she is one of my most favorite female artists. You are very considerate for allowing Henri to try to express her feelings despite being overwhelmed; I felt the same way. Lara is a master in using her body and facial expressions to emote when she is a singing.
It is like method acting for singing, she totally lives the song. Love Broken Vow the best and hope you will show this in to Henri too 🤗❤️🇬🇧

Lara is a goddess. She simply embodies the songs she sings and creates that bond with the audience. She's one of a kind and I'm glad to see her getting recognition here now some 20 years later.

I was at this concert in Paris in 1999. I still can't forget the "ambiance" in that hall that night. The video rendering is nothing compared to the sound and energy we felt that night. Many spectators cried.

The first time I saw this performance... I speak no french at all, but the first time I saw this, there were no subtitles and I think that was what drew me in even deeper. You can be distracted from the art by the subtitles. It was the most amazing vocal performance I had ever seen. I am a vocalist by trade. I sing and play guitar for a living. The moments AFTER the song really affected me the most. I have been in the position before, having sung a song and gone deep into the performance. It takes time to return to the mundane stage... My favorite song performance of all time. (and I don't even speak french!)

Sabina, one of our favorite singers and one of her greatest songs, for sure. Sabina, I have to say we are putting Henri through a roller coaster of emotions with Dimash and Lara with Angelina still to come. She is hanging in there pretty good. Dalida was touched by the words that meant a lot to her and then she decided to make her own version that was also quite successful as it was really emotional.
So yes it was not directly related to her tragic relationships, but I am sure they are the reason she chose to sing this song :-)

Dear Sabina and Henri 🌷, I remembered another song that is quite sad, “ne me quitte pas” a French song by Jacques Brel covered by many singing legends. It is not dramatic as je suis malade, but instead a quiet inner heartache. I watched Celine Dion sing it in her Las Vegas show years ago and it made me cry. Please look for it. Thank you dears 🤗
Laura sang, performed and LIVED the song. Living the song made it so perfect. There are other performers that sing with emotion, but you can tell it is not real. With Laura, like Dimash, she gets into the song and IS the song. Sabina, from a comment on another version, I should have known you, like me, would listen to all her versions of the song.
Serge Lama wrote this song for himself and it has been a great succeess in the 70ties when it came out, despite the fact this kind of mood was surprising audience comming from a man (by that time). But the text is powerfull and well written and metaphores are ringing a bell to any sensible listener.
Difficult to qualify the work Lara does but in french we call it "interpretation" and that's why you should allways listen french songs with subtitles. And it makes a great difference with some singers who have a good technic but don't understand a single word of what they are singing.
At your first reaction I wrote: I want to grab into my monitor and give you a big hug. Now I want to do that again and give Henri a big hug. Lara just has that impact on you.

I know how you and your partner were deeply moved by Lara Fabian’ s heartwrenching performance of “ Le Suis Malade” but now I will introduce you to a South Korea crossover vocal harmony group called “ Forestella” with the same ( or even MORE emotional impact singing this heartbreaking song.).
They are a 4 male crossover harmony group from South Korea. When they performed their first song ( the Freddy Mercury classic“ Bohemian Rhapsody”) it catapulted them to international stardom and they now have millions of followers worldwide. They were all at one time solo performers. One has a very deep bass/baritone voice. Another, a high operatic voice, and the other two group members (who were also solo performers) combine to render a confluence of absolute total passion and performed live on stage in front of thousands of fans. I thought no one would ever come close to Lara’s’ soulful rendition. And no one vocalist will. But when you have 4 members and the best vocal harmony group in the world, well. ( all I can say is have your Kleenex handy)
Some of their other songs I recommend are Simon & Garfunkel classic “The Sound Of Silence”, Guardian “ Angel” that will lift your spirits and transport you to another world-especially during these troubled covid times.
And the hauntingly beautiful “ hijo de la luna”
But “ Le Suis” remains my all time favorite. I’ve watched it 5 times and each and every time it moves me to my depths.

One of the greatest single artist concerts, front to back. Every performance in this PBS special was simply Lara at her peak and this performance - well, you can see at the end how invested she was as it took her a good 45-60secs to get back to the now as she has a very upbeat song to do next.
She's the greatest female singer of her generation, for me. Others may have similarly amazing technical gifts but no other can communicate the emotions of a song as she can.
If you ever get the opportunity to see and hear her live - I recommend it. I went to her concert once (in Helsinki) and it was unforgettable. Listening to one of the world's best singers... it is really something. Her way of connecting with the audience is very powerful too - I was sitting at the back and I was actually glad I was far enough from the stage because the emotional impact was so strong that I was not sure how I could have taken it if I had been closer to her. There was a Russian woman sitting next to me, visibly enjoying, and I whispered to her spontaneously: "She is SO good!" and the woman answered smiling "Yes" and then closed her eyes again and just listened.

When I heard this song for the first time by Lara I was totally speechless for a few seconds - it was not just the song, it was the delivery, the emotion, the story telling and the despair. It brought to mind any heartbreak or breakup you may have had in the past and brought it back in that moment. As Henri said, no one else could have done that song justice. She puts her heart and soul into every performance. Having heard this a few months ago, I needed to see her Live and am now going to Belgrade to see her (hopefully !!)
