Bro I dropped out at 20 from engineering due to funds… Anyway, came back at 25 but did marketing and analytics. Anyway, I graduate now at age 27 cum laude. Life ain’t a race bro. I’m just thankful as hell I made it.
I'm not graduating this year but I have a few ways to go. I'm 25, but I feel so sad seeing everyone post graduation pics, don't get me wrong guys, I am happy for them, but I need my time to come. Prayers up for my mental bc I’m at my lowest right now 😭
I started studying to become a lawyer at 18, it took me 4 years to realize i didnt liked it, I changed my career path to something completely different at 25, programming. At 26 i decided i wanted to learn something else instead so i studied Machine Learning, at 30 i graduated with a ML title, now im working at a company in Argentina and very happy! never too late
I’m 28 and just got back in school… I’ll be 32 when I graduate with a BA. Still waffling with what I want to actually do as a career, however education opens a lot of doors.
I know people who did their undergraduate in their 30s and some who went to school in their 40s. I worked for a lawyer who finished law school at 46. He was intelligent, efficient, and a good leader. Some of those had actually gotten a first bachelor's at 21/22 and ended up hating their career once they got to their late 20s. Instead of being stuck in a place they hated for the next ~40 years, they took action and went back to school for something they enjoyed. You can graduate on time and still take a non traditional path. Following the same path you were told to makes zero guarantee that it will work out as promised. Thanks for the video Justin! You were spot on and this was very encouraging. Good luck with everything :)
at the rate im going at since i took time off for mental health i wont graduate with my BS until I’m 24. been feeling really down and stressed about it but I’m glad I’m not alone, thanks for this!
Im from india and im 26, i have enroll my self in bachelor of computer science- undergraduate degree. I also once dropout from my previous college; that mistake still gives me a nightmare. Now I am doing my graduation with all my heart and for my pride and ofcourse for the future
I started college in 2017 and thought I was gonna graduate in 2021 at 21 years old. I am now graduating in may of 2024.. 3 years 'late'. I remember all my friends graduating in 2021 and I rlly didn't have any friends nearly as behind as me. I didn't fail classes, I just had severe health issues so I took 2 years off and did part-time for 2 years. I also switched majors and tracks in life. I did a lot and traveled, self discovered during that time too. It was also a lot during covid. I now do full-time for this last year, but you guys graduating in 5 years being so sad about it need to know its not a big deal at all.. that year goes by and it is so trivial. I am just happy I recovered and can function like a normal human again, but I remember how depressing it was when all my friends graduated and I had no clue when I would be able to. I was also proud and happy for them.. just wished I was graduating with them too. But yeah life happens we gotta learn certain lessons outside of school as well.
Ugh, this hits really hard. I'm 23 and I'm only just starting with my own degree. This means I'll be done by 27 when my friends are all graduating this year. 27 is such a daunting number when taking into consideration the fact that i have no prior job experience -at least none that i can put on my resume. Gee, if i was rich i wouldn't be losing sleep over this but as someone who lives in a household that's half a brush away from real poverty... I genuinely feel like jumping over a bridge over how long it's gonna take me to finish. Much more find a job. The line where it's all like 'the most important thing is to learn' feels so significant for me because i came into this, so excited. Now, I'm just terrified and scared and angry - and so hopelessly lost. It's like my life's a series of consequences i keep having to deal with from actions that aren't even my own. I'm not two days into college. I'm a year into it. I'm not quite young anymore. I'm 23. I get out of this at 27. Nearing my thirties and just about to get my first real job. The pandemic hit and my life went out of control. I'm still trying to get the years i lost back when the true reality is I've already lost four.
Not to mention that a lot of students can't attend school full time for certain reasons which causes them to fall behind. I couldn't go to school full time for certain reasons, and I had to go part time to keep school manageable. As a result, it took me longer than most people to graduate. I started at community college in January 2015, and I didn't complete my bachelor's until December 2022. That means it literally took me eight years to complete a four year degree. I only took two classes per quarter, and I also took a gap year during COVID when classes went remote, so those two things set me back pretty far. I do sometimes feel sad that it took me so much longer than most people, but I have to try and be mindful of the fact that I still graduated which is what counts.
I needed to hear this!!! I was suppose to graduate last year, but I keep failing the P.E.R.T Test🤬 I'm terrible at college exams, I don't know what to do anymore? Hopefully, I'll graduate next year!!!❤
Most of my friends just graduated today. I lowkey feel ashamed and embarrassed that I took a gap year. At the same time though, I had to as there was a passing in my family that deeply affected me. I just feel behind
This gave me a motivation to continue to my college. Even though I failed recently but because of this I'm motivated to continue. I will back on this vlog after I graduated
Summer classes are very beneficial it help me get back on track to graduate this summer. However, definitely agree with your own path and journey great message!
I actually thought about it as I actually have no idea when I'm going to graduate. I'm just taking on as many classes as I can handle, which at the moment as a college freshmen in my 1st semster I have 4 classes, I may have 3 next semester because I'm going to have biology classes. I hope everyone goes at their own past and enjoy their journey in them growing and learning. I am kind of an introvert so I wasn't thinking about graduating with my class😭 I also think of it as if they are your friends they'll be with you after graduation too❤
I'm a first year in good standing, but I wanted to share my dad's sotry. It took him ten years to complete college, including his master's. Yet, he is one of the most standup guys I will ever know. He's happy, he has a job and my mom and me and my siblings, and he gives the family more support than we could ever appreciate. He's strong, doesn't exactly use all his money for practical reasons (he buys a lot of bikes), but he made it. After ten years from completing high school, he made it. And it took him for as long as he needed it. I think we should all really take as long as we need individually, because if we make it, we make it. It's as simple and as rewarding as that.
wow, bro that’s so powerful! shoutout to your dad foreal! that’s a different type of dedication and it’s inspiring to be that it paid off- no matter how long!
The advice i can give out is that If you’re gonna go to college make sure you go in with a purpose and execute it when you graduate. Major in something you know for sure it will get you to where you want to be, hell, make sure it even requires a degree! I think being lost during college, studying something you’re not sure about is the worst mistake you can do. You’ll be racking up debt, paying it off, finding it harder for yourself to make a true living. It’s not your fault though people. The system didn’t teach you that part. Even it means graduating late, i think it’s great to rather do that then graduate early and have no plan and work a 9-5 with a useless degree and ruining yourself. Don’t rush yourself. It’s hard to figure yourself out straight after high school as a 17-18 year old, although great if you do. Take the time you need, but also don’t get comfortable.
Thanks a lot for making this video which brought a community of others that also feel left behind. I also failed my first year classes. Took a gap and stopout semester, now doing an independent study due to reoccuring personal traumatic experiences. The shame and fear of judgement from those that don’t understand the sheer pressure and adversities of each person, I am constantly trying to “get over” the fact i may graduate at 25-26. Will dial in! We are living our own personalized paths and truths.
Hello guys I am an Indonesian Law student. Today I read a story about a blind man graduating from law school on time, and received cum laude. I then looked to myself and asked "what excuses do I have?". It motivated me. I got friends of mine who wanted to enroll in the Indonesian air force but failed and chose law school, graduating earlier, what excuses do I have?. Those things motivated me. I am a bit better now, but this is not the end.
God bless you and thank you for this video. I failed classes my first sem, took a gap year after/during covid, transferred with no applicable credits, and completely changed my major twice (now I'm 2 years behind). School started to feel like the main source of anxiety in my life because of how late I was, but your words really helped remind me how individualized God's plans are for us all! 💛Best of luck with your pursuits!🙏
Idk why some people feel like a failure and similar if you don't have degree, this days you have mentors and can learn anything on the internet if you really put into effort, I'm from Europe but it seems like college is overrated in America, idk why but again whoever make it in college congratulations 🎉
I am 22 right now, I am double majored, I just found out today that I am going to graduate late for one of my major which is in 2025, my friends are graduating this Thursday,, some of them used to ask me for academic advice and exams, seeing them graduating first feels weird, but I am happy for them tho, I am coming to their graduation this Thursday
Hey man, hearing your story motivated me a lot I started collage back with 17 and struggled a lot with depression, then later ended up changing my major and now I'm changing it again to my original one haha. I'm 19 now and I will start from zero. Thinking that my high school peers are halfway done with it left me with a overwhelming feeling of being left behind, and I'd be lying if I said it doesn't come back every now and then haha, but I still think about how much more mature I am now and feel way more prepared to tackle this challenge. Really, thank you very much you are a great inspiration to me
If you transfer schools your GPA is reset to 0 no matter what year you are. I left one school with a 2.5 GPA after freshman year, changed my major twice and graduated Magna Cum Laude on time. You will pay 100% tuition and fees at the new school for the first year but it was worth it for me.
Please tell me more, I have been thinking about transferring to a smaller school but my gpa is low and i have exhausted my student loans. Will i still have to pay out of pocket if i were to transfer to another institution?
I have like a year and a half, maybe 2 years left. I went into College straight out of highschool, and I was in Graduation Class of 2021. I did pretty good my first two semesters and a halfway through the third but...around that time I sorta fizzled out. I didn't want to do this shit anymore, it didn't help that beforehand I never failed a meaningful class until College, which contributed to my spiraling mental health. And I still haven't really gotten over it but I'm trying my best to get this stuff straight. Not necessarily for me at this point, just for my parents so they can say one of their children got a degree.
me the first year studied in architecture major failed from exams, and second year i am styding managment bt now i am realizing that i wanna to be someone who deals with technology ....thanks for video
Genuinely appreciate this. I am also a senior in my fifth year. During covid I definetly did not maximize my time and fell behind in my program (2 years behind). We'll all move on and this won't be an issue in the future as long as we make the best of out opportunities moving forward. Also, a lot of your class will be taking 5+ years. Either because of failed classes or Co-op. You'll all have more to bond over lol. Its really not a worry just take it easy theres not much else you can do:) We got this, see you guys in 10 years when Justin has many many more subscribers and were all chilling to ease the nerves of future students. :)
i just failed my competency exam.....all my friends are graduting except me.......i Tried my best yet it wasnt enough. Thankyou for the kind words and support....hopefully the next exit exam i will pass

Yo bro I'm also doing I.T rn and programming is killing me like craaazy lmfao. I feel hella out of place and I'm only in my 1st year 🤒 Thing is most of the advices I get is to just stick with it since they say it's hard to catch up if you switch majors so idrk what to do
Nah fuck my problem is it's not even my godamn fault its the place i went to that started changing rules adding another year to what i was doing which is delaying me by a whole year
I watched this at the right time and you said all the right words! Subscribed :) you’re easy to listen to
Ahhh thank you so much! Im really glad it was able to help you at this time, good luck on your finals!!!!
Graduating late is still graduating everybody’s life is different 👏🏽
Bro I dropped out at 20 from engineering due to funds…

Sweetie, it’s okay.. 25 is still very young and our stories are all different. You WILL graduate and it doesn’t matter how late it is
that’s all good!!! your park is just different! you will have a lot of success & happiness coming to you in future i promise 🙏🏾
Same. I feel u.

that’s dope! Congrats on that! such an inspiring story
Took me 13 years to earn two bachelor degrees. Life happens. I am wrapping up my 1st masters degree in September 2023. Never quit 😁

Of course!! You got this!
i appreciate this, I am so behind but I am on my own journey and I am still going to get that degree not for anyone else but for me and me only
Yah same here! There’s peace knowing God has us right where we need to be
I hope I can forgive myself in the future for failing so much.
you can 💙 allow yourself to grow and move at your own pace, not the pace the world tells you to be at
Thanks man. You did a lot of good for people too by sharing your experience.

I’m graduating at 28/29. I feel like I’m a failure in society…
nah man! graduating is still graduating no matter the age! Think about all the others that never got a degree

that’s very true, great insights and congratulations on graduating Joe!
Now that you're finished. Do you feel it makes a big difference?
Big on the not comparing yourself to others, college is a journey at the end of day finishing your degree is what matters.

thank you, I just had a breakdown because I am so behind from my friends.

What if I were to tell you that it took me 10 years to graduate college? I graduated HS in 2014.
that’s really cool that you didn’t give up either!!!! Congratulations!!😁🎉🥳

I,m 24 and currently in 1st year college studying Accounting
.
that’s awesome! congrats on the new journey!
Not necessarily for me at this point, just for my parents so they can say one of their children got a degree.
that’s real bro! You must have great parents to have that mindset. Keep going! Success for you is just around the corner!
me the first year studied in architecture major failed from exams, and second year i am styding managment bt now i am realizing that i wanna to be someone who deals with technology ....thanks for video
Needed this.
Genuinely appreciate this. I am also a senior in my fifth year. During covid I definetly did not maximize my time and fell behind in my program (2 years behind). School is hard and life gets complicated sometimes. We learn lessons and our young adult life is going to be the first time people for many of us. Struggling with school can be disappointing and its a growing experience. I've chosen to take it as a learning experience. We'll all move on and this won't be an issue in the future as long as we make the best of out opportunities moving forward.
Also, a lot of your class will be taking 5+ years. Either because of failed classes or Co-op. You'll all have more to bond over lol. Its really not a worry just take it easy theres not much else you can do:)
We got this, see you guys in 10 years when Justin has many many more subscribers and were all chilling to ease the nerves of future students. :)
WOW! I'm right there with you. Changing my major twice definitely set me back, but we are doing the best we can to rectify our mistakes!!
Needed this fr
i just failed my competency exam.....all my friends are graduting except me.......i Tried my best yet it wasnt enough.
Thankyou for the kind words and support....hopefully the next exit exam i will pass
hey you got this!!! you have my support 🤝❤️
Graduating at 23. Been told that’s normal and I know it’s only a year older because took gap year but still feels weird lol
Respect for being honest
Always gotta keep it real 💯
Love this Justin so open and honest!
thank you Blessing!🙌🏾
Im currently in 3rd year rn but still have a 1st year Major that has 4 prerequisite subject and im not able to take 3 3rd year major subject and im worried if hiw many more that they wouldnt let me take in the future. The subject's availability is what hinders my graduation the most at my own estimate it doesnt matter if i do well or not because of that one subject i will be delayed for almost certainly two years. I can take being delayed for a year but two years is more depressing.
Now i know im 21 i still have 3 years im so sad because i was scared to change my major because of being scared to fail, i wish i changed faster
🏆🤝 needed this
needed this so much
You kept it all the way 💯I graduate college in 2026 at age 25 and was thinking dam imma be old 25. I’m still young at 25😂
Thanks for this video ❤
Absolutely, we are all in this together! Hope you consider subscribing!
Good insights
Yo bro I'm also doing I.T rn and programming is killing me like craaazy lmfao. I feel hella out of place and I'm only in my 1st year 🤒 Thing is most of the advices I get is to just stick with it since they say it's hard to catch up if you switch majors so idrk what to do
Teachers require payment at nearly all schools…I mean out of your pocket that’s what they did….
