Does the amount of stretch affect the difficulty much?
I am able to surf in the beginning of the line but not in the middle yet

I got an one inch width/25m long Gibbon slackline, I still can't stand on it and the fall is terrible, but will keep trying anyway.

you gotta learn how to fall nicely by sliding off with both feet at the same time. Being able to fall, will help you push the limits!

Would you say you can do this on a basic level on a normal, short slackline if you make it loose enough?

The shape of the surf would look differently. You'd end up in a rodeo-surf. But for sure you can do it. Ideally put at least 1.5m sag. Better 2m+ to have a slower and more flowy surf.

To surf it, about 2m. But try different sags to also find your personal favourite.

On a dynamic nylon line it will certainly work. On static polyester it is easier to go slightly longer.
