- Former U.S. Attorney and Deputy Assistant Attorney General Harry Litman joins to discuss the Trump hush money trial. Both sides have rested. Harry has been in the courtroom watching the trial. With closing arguments coming next week, we break down what has transpired and all the possible outcomes Trump could expect as his verdict looms.
Harry has been covering the trial for the Los Angeles Times. Read his reporting here: www.latimes.co...
Harry knows what he's talking about. Thanks for having him on!
Franken brought out the best in Harry Littman, who is perhaps the best explainer of the trial to begin with. Thanks to both!
Harry Litman is little turbo charged super hero. His podcast is fantastic.
Hirry Litman is one of my favorite experts on the law, walking me through this unbelievable time in history. This awful former President and his grifter family. I cannot wait until this is in our rear view mirror.
I suspect you are going to wait for a long time. Convicted or not tRump isn’t going away. He is the focus of a decades long campaign by the Republican / fascist / Christian nationalist movement to dismantle democracy. The only possible solution, so far as I can see, is a massive popular uprising rejecting that coalition. But most Americans are Christians. A significant number are fascists. And, sad to admit, we are not the most educated, most rational, citizens on the planet.
Harry - also my favorite expert on the law
Combover Hitler was booed tonight. Fantastic.
Well DESERVED! Trump’s peeps are FINALLY WAKING UP! Welcome to the REAL WORLD, FOLKS!
Donald’s pelt is looking the worse for wear. It resembles cotton candy. And it’s thin.
What a treat to hear Harry on the holiday weekend. Thank you!
Always a pleasure to hear from Harry Litman. I have a tremendous amount of respect for him, his honesty and his integrity. Thank you for interviewing this guest!

Three words will make America great again: GUILTY AS CHARGED
Dumpy trump😊😊
%100
it's a GAS attack !!
@@direwolf6234imagine Trump, in a jail cell, with three, hardened, inmates. How long would diaper Don last? Yup, Trump will get house arrest.
I hope he gets convicted and then has to stay at Mar-A-Lago but is not allowed to play golf. That would really piss him off
💙Dems need super majorities in both the House and the Senate !💙Vote Blue November 5💙
God please let me live and pray 🙏🏿
I promise to vote Democrat 🗳

Up and down the ballot. 🗽💙🌊💙🌊🗽
Please donate to Democratic senators and representatives in the swing states, if you can.💙🇺🇸
We need Al Franken back in The Senate!
endorsed
Absolutely.
Unfortunately Al doesn't want to deal with the mishigas.😉
Al for Pres !
@@NoSacredCowFla I completely agree with your comment.
The way the prosecution laid out their case, it seems very clear. I’m sure their closing statement will put the pieces of the puzzle together.
Honestly if it takes the jury past noon in deliberation, it’s because they want lunch before they go.
Good humor. But the jury is taking this seriously and have to hear the blah blah blah record read back to them because it isn't given in writing like a lot of places. I can hardly stand waiting on this one though. Fast, guilty, boom, that would be ideal. And they sure deserve lunch!
Great show! Love Harry's work!
Harry is so great! ❤
Two of my Favs !! Wonk Away !! Thanks to both for keeping the truth afloat !!
Harry is my favorite commentator on the NY trial.
He and Karen Friedman Agnifilo are my favourites.
Him and Andrew Weissmann.
Thanks Al and Harry!
Yes, a great one....for a change!
Love you Al please run again? WE NEED YOU!
Miss you Al
I've casually followed the case. I did learn a few things so well done.
Al, this dropped Saturday, the 25th of May, not Sunday. Thanks for having Harry, on.
If he's in the Eastern time zone, it was Sunday when he posted it.
@@shawnwales696 Barely. 😉
I think Al wants to be there for his audience when they get up, like a Sunday morning newspaper.
If nightowls get to feel like we get an advance release, that doesn't feel to me like an inaccuracy, or a nit worth picking.
Can I hear, guilty on all counts?
Great guest!
Finally!!!! Harry!!!
Clarity from Harry is a great place to start a discussion of Trump's trial...begin the going around the barn!
HARRY ROCKS!!!
I find it absolutely delightful when 2+ of you wonderful minds of similar culture use words/phrases you learned growing up! When I watch Harry's program on Mondays, I'm always eager to see if 2-3 of the panel are of the same heritage as I always look forward to this element!! 😄
Thank you Al Franken .
Harry is the man
Masterful analysis and truth-telling, both. Ty
👌 👏 👀 Al Franklin. Well, come back to the state senate. We'll Missed you also...
I would love to be on that jury.Only need one word and it starts with G.
Great guest and a host who always produces an engaging podcast?💪⚖️💪⚖️💪⚖️
Two great voices, what a great weekend listen w/ my coffee and a cuddle w/ the dogs before facing the day!
Fabulous synopsis - thank you…
Thanks, AL.
This was a good one for a change!
Thank you. This was great. Your questions were my questions, and Harry answered them quickly and to the point.
Harry Litman is a great guest! Love your show Al Franken. Wish you were still in the Senate.
*Always* love hearing Harry’s witty analysis & critiques! Love his * intellectual legal nerd that occasionally drops an F Bomb “ style! Thanks Al!
For a change I learned something today. Thanks, gents!
Thank you. 🧡
Great interview. Thank you.
I have a bad feeling about the outcome of this trial. And if he is not convicted, he becomes more empowered.
Oh, Al ... you had me with the Kottke opening music!
Everyone keeps saying that if it's a state case, he can't get out of it, HOWEVER, if he's a dictator, he can change the laws! SO STATE CASES AREN'T SAFE EITHER .
Can he become a dictator from jail? Logistically?
All the more reason to get him jailed.
Great podcast! Thanks for the clear explanation.
Two of my favorites!
Harry is very good.
this was a really good one today Al !
"...beyond a reasonable doubt"? Are you kidding? We're talking about Trump here! What possible doubt could anyone have?
Absolutely Great One!
Great Discussion!
Thank You!
Excellent commentary and love your humour!!
Al + Harry = Fun and great legal conversation. Well done.
Great show "for a change"!!
A good one...for a change. Loved having Harry talk with you.
The jury liked the judge, the prosecution, Michael Cohen, and they weren't all too pleased with the defense attorneys or their star witness.
woop, woop
Very good explanation and analysis. Helps clear up the "wonky" stuff. Gee, Harry, I hope you're right. Whatever you do, don't give Trump's attorneys any ideas!
Thanks for sharing.
Great video! Thanks!
For change we need Al Franklin too. Blue 💙 💙 💙
No matter what Trump is convicted of he will definitely appeal because it's his favorite thing to do
2nd favorite after lawsuits.
OK, you got me: He appeals those all the time, too.
@@Roberta-q1q 3rd favourite after sexual assault.
The TRUTH doesn't matter to you, and other Lefties
Lying is clearly his favorite thing
Law allows you to appeal, Klown..
🗣Harry Litman👏👏👏
Thank you very much great program great interview I’m We’re originally from Minnesota so I know you Al Franken really well! Way back to Comedy store in Minneapolis and then Saturday night live as I recall 😊
Harry you need to get Al Franken on your podcast
Thank you for sharing this conversation!
I forgot the $10,000 additional fine for 10 counts of contempt of court (violating gag order).
Thanks for this conversation.
This threw me off. Al Franken I listen to every Sunday (it's my church of Al 😉) But Harry's face showed up in my RUclips feed and I had to check my watch to check the day. Thanks Al and Harry!
Hello Al. It's still the Al Franken decade as far as I'm concerned.
Nice to see good old Harry L.
Yep. MSNBC (Microsoft Broadcasting Company) sometimes gets a little wonky. Let's hear what Harry really thinks behind the scenes.🤔🥳
I still ask “how does this affect Al Franken?”
Harry’s the best!
He is!
ABSOLUTELY!!!
Good work.
Oh ya, vote everyone!
Advice to daughters of Republican women; get one of those Halloween handmaid outfits and wear it on voting day to remind them what they are voting for, or against. Also chant "Unified Reich, under his eye", as often as possible.
Better than the other one
If you want to get an education in US law and politics start watching Harry Litman, Michael Popok and Karen Friedman Agnifilo on the Midas Touch Network. Thanks for having Harry on.
MTN 😅❤❤❤❤
Go Harry. Lovin' your reportage and analysis.
As far as I've heard the Mistameanor Statute of Limitations has expired, however because it was in furtherance of another crime the Felony kicked in. So, if the defense askes for the mistameanor it would take it out of that limitation, so it would be silly of them to ask for such. I could be wrong, but I am gong by what I heard from Karen Friedman-Agnifilo.
As I understood from Karen, the prosecutors cant ask for it due to the statutes of limitation on the misdemeanors, but the defense could ask it - if their client will allow it.
@@dfuher968 thanks. And if they ask, it would be opening something back up they wouldn’t want to in the first place if I remember correctly.
The jumping to a felony has been confusing all along. Maybe jury instructions can clarify. No campaign experts were called, by either side. Why?
@@jannichi6431 Why do you need a campaign expert?
God bless the USA. Juries are one of the few things we share together. Boy do we need more! National Seniors Service?? 18 months of basic/service/training for ALL youth??
I think the defense should bring in some big drums and have Stormy Daniels do some exotic dancing and demonstrate how the defendant could not possibly have been tempted into any extramarital unchristian conduct. Trump would stay awake for that. Al should run for president since Minnesota already has two democratic senators.
🧡Love🧡this🧡video🧡
Harry’s the best. Why do we have schmucks like Thomas and Alito when we could have a brilliant legal mind like Harry Littman?
Two of my favorite commentators, commentating!
In spite of America’s great legal system, what would the outcome look like if Donald Trump were a black president?
WHY DID YOU FALL ON YOUR SWORD?😫 Back to government, now!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was under the impression that if the jury finds DJT guilty of misdemeanors only, those fall under the statute of limitations by now.
If I recall correctly, the general rule is that if the defense asks that the jury be instructed on the misdemeanor charge, that waives a statute of limitations claim as to the misdemeanor.
Think the statue of limitations was a Right Wing FOX rumor. If so, why were charges brought in the first place?
An audition for an appointment. But Donald Trump will never be the president of the United States of America. Many have finally got it🔮
Harry Litman has done so much to explain the judicial process to people like me who have never had anything to do with the judicial system. But yet, I still do not understand what the word 'flony' means and what are the consequences to be found a felon in court. That is definitely something that should be explained further, please. Otherwise, I can only thank you for this free education.
A felony is a big crime demanding jail time. A misdemeanor is a little crime like a minor traffic violation. Usually misdemeanors can be resolved by paying a fine. Felonies are big serious offenses which result in a person having a criminal record. Having a felony offense on your record can bar you from getting jobs, qualifying for housing , qualifying for some schools and student aide programs, bar you from voting or serving in the military. Felony offenses are a big deal. 😅
It's campaign finance violation, that's the law he broke, surely the jury has got to understand that ?
But no campaign expert was called, for either side. This jump to felony is confusing. Did Harry answer that?
@@jannichi6431 is it not set out in the indictment or prosecution opening?
Campaign finances are enforced by the FEC, and the Disclosure rules are pretty clear. That crime occurred, and was demonstrated by the Prosecution's case. No?
@@jannichi6431 Why do you need a campaign expert to testify? If he'd been accused of speeding, would you demand that a car expert testify?
Littman, GRATE .
If DT is convicted, could he be held because of his calls for violence?
Absolutely!!!
How much danger is the jury in if they convict?
Isn’t the tax fraud the classification of reimbursement as a deductible expense?
Cohen pled quilty.
Why weren't campaign experts called for either side?
Raising to a felony has been confusing.
