In winter, you can feed the birds with sunflower seeds, millet, rice, grain crops. Some bird species will not give up on lard either. It is very high in calories and helps birds to survive especially cold winter nights.
In winter, birds spend the night in birdhouses, hollows of tree trunks or under the roofs of houses.
